Need help (still) with Anomic Agent - Serpentis lvl4 mission

Hi!

I’ve been trying unsuccessfully to complete the Anomic Agent Mission for Serpentis pirates.

I’ve also read different threads over there and applied the tips, but unfortunately do not have all skills maxed and cannot afford so expensive modules, specially risking to lose my ship (again…).

Last try was with a Hawk, and following the tactics on high damage, webbing, an AF and shield booster. Initial seconds are fine, I apply some damage and remove the shield. My key problem is that the Daredevil is despite everything faster than me (I reduce my speed to something like 10%) and reaches the 11-12km orbit, out of the 10km range of my webifiers. At that point its lost, as I am slower and can reach him again and my weapons do almost nothing while my ship cannot withstand the damage long.

I’ve seen some videos where abyssal modified webifiers reach 12km, which could solve my problem, but that completely out of my current scope and I see no other way to improve that range. In other videos with other factions I would say that speed is only reduced to 50% or so, being possible to keep the distance <10km, but not my case.

I think I am following the right direction, but without access to the best mods I am unable to optimize the build enough and each try is more than 30M. At this point it is not about the ISK, which are far below the losses, but trying to beat the challenge without breaking my economy.

Thanks in advance!

My fit:

Lows:
Ballistic Control System II x2
Mids:
Fleeting Compact Statis Webifier x2
Compact Kinetic Shield Amplifier x1
1MN Monopropellant Enduring Afterburner x1
Small Shield Booster II x 1
Highs:
‘Malkuth’ Rocket Launcher I x4
Small Knave Scoped Energy Nosferatu x1
Rigs:
2x Small Thermal Shield Reinforcer I x2
Ammo:
Caldari Navi Scourge Rocket

Those missions are advanced content designed for high skill level characters fit with implants using Boosters while piloting bling fit ships.

My suggestion is to step back and take some time to get your character skilled up and upgrade your ship fit before engaging in that content…

Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful…

Take this advice to heart.

Don’t use abyssals when trying to learn how to run missions. Good abyssals are blazingly expensive and mediocre ones will only teach you to rely on effect that won’t reproduce once you change your the ship.

A Caldari Navy Stasis Webifier can be replaced at any time for 30~50m isk depending on the end of highsec you are, while it has 13km flat out range.

All stasis webifiers can be overheated to provide for another 30% extra range. That given, a Stasis Webifier II, which comes at 1~2m isk, can have that 13km range, too, though only for a limited time until it overheats.

Item Range Heated Range Velocity Reduction Velocity Reduction with two modules
Stasis Webifier II 10km 13km 60% 84%
Caldari Navy Stasis Webifier 13km 16.9km 55% 80%
Federation Navy Stasis Webifier 14km 18.2km 60% 84%
Republic Fleet Stasis Webifier 15km 19.5km 50% 75%

My recommendation would be to read the eve wiki article about overheating, then fit a t2 web on your hawk , fly it into an anomaly or a lvl4 non-burner mission and try grabbing some of the elite frigates within in the 13-10km range , in order to get some experience with the overheat. If you screw it up there and the web melts down, or it causes other modules to fail, you can just warp out, or wreck whatever is scramming you more or less easily, and then warp out, while each time you mess up a burner, you lose a ship.

You can also run the LVL4s regular(s) with your Raven / Rokh / Drake / Caracal / whatever you normally run them with, but try to get rid of all those elite frigates with your primary armament instead of using drones, once again overheating the webs to grab the elite frigs until you attained some familiarity with the overheat effects and optimal module placements… And if you screw up, just launch drones to get rid of the elites, or cycle your microjump drive.

For the dramiel, you absolutely want T2 launchers.

You also want a “real” tank, i.e. Gistum A-Type Kinetic Amplifier - not because it’s so much better then the T2 but because it’s better and it has lower CPU requirement then a T2 and it’s comparatively inexpensive. You want T2 rigs, too. The Dramiel inflicts 150 kinetic damage and 110 thermal damage per second, so the focus of the tank should be on kinetic: Swap a Thermal Rig for a Kinetic one, and use T2 rigs for both.

As the Dramiel flies in a 11km orbit and has a -90% movement modifier web, don’t bother attempting to catch up to it. Just slow it up for the rockets to inflict more damage and wait. The Afterburner can be removed since the Dramiel will not run out of our range (11km is within range to both the faction webs and the rockets), and we will not be able to get close it either, due to it’s web.
The shield booster needs to be a deadspace one. It doesn’t matter which one, whatever you can fit is good enough, but you need 150kin/s and 110th/s tank which no small non-deadspace module can provide for long enough (ancillary runs into reload and you die).

Depending on whether you want to finish fast, or your want to finish safe, put a target painter into the slot that had the Afterburner and load Rage ammo. Your capacitor will deplete in 2~3 minutes so make sure the NPC runs out of HP before that. Or you go safe, and put a Small Cap Battery there, which will allow you to tank the NPC forever, however Rages won’t apply well, so you’ll need to rely on lower damage faction or javellin munitions.

if you go too cheap you fail every time.
no ab cause hr dictates the range always with his 90 % web. you need the hawk reqs at v to reach the range and damage.

I recommend the fits in my guide here:

For the burner missions you need a bit of bling to be able to do them reliable. In case of the Daredevil you should use a faction web to reach it. Heating T2 might work too, but question is weather you csn heat it long enought.

Thank you all for the info!!

@DeMichael_Crimson , @Arthur_Aihaken , yeah, I guess it is too much for me for now. I probably have to start improving in the direction pointed by the others before trying this again. Not the moment yet.

@Moko_Musana many thanks for the overheating info, that’s something I did not explore before, but it is clear I should  And was not aware about the extra range, so pretty useful!!

@Moko_Musana, @Ploing Thanks for the very clear advise for fitting, it looks like a good moment for going to T2 launchers. That is something I had in my “pending” list of skills to train, and now I have a good reason to learn.

And thanks @Gustav_Mannfred for the video, found some but not that one is much more detailed.

So it is not going to be this time, but it will be next!

Sometimes you just have to take a step back in order to move forward… There’s no shame in doing that and it’ll actually save you ISK in the long run.

Remembering the 5 P’s will definitely help your career here in Eve…

Haha so good advice, I have to admit some failures for skipping it. And I was missing a good goal for training new skills, so it looks like I have a good challenge to plan for. As I have to fail the mission now, I hope it comes back at some point later. It has been the first time I got that mission.

Failing that one mission won’t mess you up on getting more of those mission offers, especially if you train up your social skills…

Just remember this game is a long term investment that will provide years of enjoyment… as long as you properly plan your actions…

Anyway, hope you have good luck and much success with your Eve career…

The issue is that the agent can outlast your web heat ^^. Because you won’t be able to catch it, so you need to have a web that lasts.

also you NEED the 60% base, so fed it is

yeah, 2 webs + faction painter + rigor allow to apply close to 100% on rage IIRC.

Thanks! I met the game many years ago and now I decided to come back so looking for that long term approach
