NeoShocker for CSM 20 - Balance of Eve, mechanics, and QoL

Hello! I am NeoShocker, going for CSM 20 run. I have been playing the game for about 19 and half years now. I have vast understanding of the game since I have explored many things Eve-Online has to offer. From PvE, PvP, and industry related activities. Soon be reaching 20 years of Eve-Online, and for the past few years, I have been engaging with the community and doing things to contribute my experience. I have been to few FanFest and several Eve-group meet up. I believe you’ll recognize me wearing the “Indiana Jones” hat at the meet ups. :slight_smile:

Similar to my last run for CSM 19, my focus is the same, which are are three. I believe it is very important for Eve-Online’s longevity and retention of players, especially for new players. I believe FW/insurgency is of great importance for Eve-Online’s player retention and for new players to participate for PvP.

  1. Balance of Eve-Online. One example relating to Faction Warefare and insurgency, which relates to standings penalty. Some ideas like harsher standings penalty within complexes, reduction of penalty outside the complex, and further reduction of penalty outside FW/insurgency systems when engaging friendly militia. While not relating to “balance”, I have an goal to push the rename of a Gurista ship, Mamba to something else. As a snake lover, I personally believe it is an “insult” to the mamba species (ship is sloooow) and should be renamed to like Adder, Viper, or Gaboon!
  2. Mechanics of Eve-Online - Once again, it relates to FW/insurgency. Eve-Online should use the “tethering system” with the complex. The central complex’ object will tether to first # of the max pilot in the complex. Tethered militia receives full payout, and increased penalty protection against friendly milita aggressor (on top of already increased in site penalty). Non-tethered pilots gets the usual LP payoff penalty when exceeding the complex’ max pilot count. Another mechanic, relates to running Abyssal sites. If you jump to the gate on the final seconds, you absolutely made it and safe, not blown up shortly after jumping and in gate warp animation.
  3. Quality of Life - Many ideas. Especially certain areas that are long neglected, such as the in-game Notepad system. I would push for Search feature and ability to open notes in multiple of windows. Another would be more topics on the Help section for The Agency window. Such as adding Directional Scan instructional video. Another QoL example would be ability to rename drone folder names. Perhaps encourage and push for the return of Juke Box ingame instead of launcher. Eve does have sounds.

SKINR, it needs more attention. I believe plex cost is too high, there should be lighting features to see the color more, and easier to link skins when already activated.

I seen and done several revisions of intro tutorial for new players. While there have been great improvements, there are some core “skills” missing. There are many great topics in Help section, which should have also been implemented into the tutorial. One example is the Directional Scanner. It is missing on both tutorial and Agency Help section, one of the most important feature for any players to learn and use on regular basis.

1. EVE Vanguard
Have you had an occasion to try it during Operation Nemesis or earlier? What was your impression if any?

What do you think about bidirectional connection planned with EVE Online? Do you see it has a potential to attract more players towards New Eden? And do you think Capsuleers will benefit from it?

2. Information & ISK itemization
How about being able to take a notes from your notepad and put it as an item into container or ship cargo? Same with an amount of ISK? Just like you can do with PLEX.

3. Production Plans
Basically the idea behind this is to bundle all the BPOs (BPCs), required to produce some final product, say, an assembled Drake fully fitted according to some saved fit ready for duty, into a single BPO-like item, and internally arranged into an intricate production workflow. Complete with logistics tasks, if necessary, using delivery corp projects. It could use BPMN diagram editor to arrange.

When installed into industrial job slot it will churn out those Drakes, provided there are required materials in linked containers or pause until they are become available again.

Would you pitch CCP to consider implementing it? Or at least expand ESI to allow 3rd party developers to do it?

  1. Yes, I have tried vanguard to great extent, enough to fill whole storage with tier 2 weapon mods. I have also played Dust514 a lot back then, plugging mouse and keyboard on it. :slight_smile: I have heard something about a mercenary outpost , where Eve Capsuleer and a Vanguard merc can meet directly, which probably hint the return of walking in station. Would love to see that. Another thing I heard about, is where metanox and potentially pocos is where you need Vanguard activity. Though I must strongly encourage for Vanguard to be multi-platform supported. As long Vanguard have some sort of strong impact and correlation to interact one another, I can see Vanguard to be successful. I am eager to see non-eve players being part of the New Eden making an impact.
  2. I absolutely love this idea for notes to be copied to hangers! I would encourage and push for CCP to see it implemented! Thank you for sharing this! Its a very nifty tool that is largely ignored!
  3. I have reached out to Elinore. It is an interesting idea, especially when doing Tech III industry. I did make a lot of TIII cruisers and tactical destroyers and this could’ve been nice to have. I have put it into my notes. Thanks again for sharing the link!

He has been a long-standing member of the LowSec community, consistently demonstrating kindness, compassion, and a genuine dedication to others.
