Is Bender sympathising, because notice I said person, not human.

Some of the best people arent humans.

A fascinating bit of information…

Out of 200 Ventures lost so far today, only 20 have been in highsec. Of those 20…14 were lost to NPCs. There were similar stats yesterday.

That means that twice as many Ventures are lost every day to NPCs as to gankers. Yet the myth remains that gankers are responsible for all those highsec Venture losses.

You’re just a close minded ganker interpreting the numbers to fit your biased perspective. You’d understand this if you were an educator.

It kinda crazy how many Venture I find in LowSec. They Pop So fast xD

You have to be careful about this line of reasoning because it implies there might be something wrong with players shooting a venture in highsec.

I’m guessing Ventures are still fairly inexpensive, still pretty fast, and still have their warp core strength bonus. So, with few exceptions, a player piloting one will probably be able to escape unless they either A) were AFK or B) did not know how. Either way, they need to learn to do better, and how do they learn they need to learn? By losing a venture.

So, when the new player asks what happened and what they can do about it, might someone erroneously tell them that there’s nothing they can do about it? This is where the community needs to be stepping up and telling a newbie that in the grand scheme of things losing a venture is not a big deal, how to get another, and how to keep it next time.

Maybe we don’t lose every player this way, but we have to be losing at least some just because we are teaching them to feel more weak and powerless than they are. That they need someone powerful, or if we’re calling on CCP ‘all powerful’, to save them. No big surprise that players told they can’t do anything on their own decide not to.

New players should, in my opinion, be doing it all. Claiming under inhabited patches of space, ganking people who don’t honor their claim, or forming up to protect themselves from the aforementioned and thumb their noses at those claims. Getting someone’s goat and getting back at someone who got yours (or the goat of anyone you would call friend in this crazy space fantasy). Losing a ship is supposed to open the door to beginning to learn what is possible.

TL;DR: If a person wants a new player to stay, teaching them what they /can/ do is crucial. Losing a venture is incentive for a new player to ask and learn, but I don’t think the answers they get are always worth the tuition, if you catch my drift.

And it’s probably even wider then that. From the economic reports, stats on the top 10 ships lost so far this year:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Eve/comments/vvdvmg/top_10_ships_destroyed_ytd_2022/

Venture #1 at 60,725.
With 180 days from New Years to 30 June, the number of Ventures lost each day averages at 337.

From data we can access, the average number suicide ganked each day this year is 16.6.

95% of venture losses are caused by non-gank reasons.

If the carebears really cared about new players and believe loss is driving them away from the game, they’d be screaming for NPCs to be removed from highsec, not gankers. But they don’t, because their real agenda is just to get rid of ganking. They don’t care in the slightest for new players.

Now this is the sort of verifiable numbers and evidence-based reasoning I can get behind. And like most exceptional points, it’ll be buried in the middle of the thread at post 2568, plainly for all to see.

Thanks for doing the digging.

They were, during the brief period that the Triglavian invasion was happening.

And now we have JJ wanting npc’s to be the threat in highsec again.

Sorry, I came to the game for human (kinda  ) opponents.

Of course there were people who admitted they were pissed that they died to trigs, but I remember people complaining about how messed up it was that trigs were killing newbros without warning. Funny how those complaints all dried up after dual standings became a thing. I mean, newbros are still dying to trigs.

I don’t know guys, but I’m beginning to suspect that they don’t actually care about newbros. It’s like Eve online’s version of, “asking for a friend.”

Speaking of which, is it possible to catch an STD from necrophilia? asking for a friend.

I guess it would depend of the amount of decomposition/lifespan of the disease after death.

Now I want CQ! If I can mount all the biomass I have in containers hoping the April Fools joke will come true, butt 1st on a wall without the smell or STD?

Oh my word, the self delusion by the ganker and ganker aligned is hilarious, Ventures only matter if the person has spent a lot of time mining and then gets blown up with a full cargo and even then it is just irritation. The real impact of miner ganking has always been when newish players stretch to a mining barge and exhumer and have that blown up. Do you really believe your own propaganda, it appears so?

I was amused to see Catalyst at number 5 with 32.014 blown up, though some would be used in other ways as the DPS is nice but the tank…, and as they are the preferred ganking ship it is pretty telling that ganking is not dead. Thrashers at 9 with 24,072, again another preferred ganking ship.

And I should point out that if you want this to be a Ganking catch all thread then change the title, this just looks like you lot are bitching about game balance yet again.

And why exactly is that a problem?

Coddling newbros just ensures that they pick up unrealistic expectations about the game, don’t learn risk management or PvP avoidance, and have more time to accumulate assets, which will help increase the chances that their first PvP losses will be devastating, instead of easy to bounce back from. And if getting killed makes them not want to play, then that’s actually not a bad thing. See, this is a challenging UPvP game with a harsh death mechanic. And, if that’s not the type of game that they want to play, it is better that they learn that before they spend money on the game.

Of course, the nerf-gankers don’t care about that, because they don’t actually care about newbros. They just want to use them as an excuse to nerf their enemies. What’s worse, however, is that there are money men at CCP who don’t appear to care about that either, and seem to want to squeeze any money that they can out of players before they quit.

Edit: Oh yeah, almost forgot. Nice shifting of the goal posts btw.

We may be biased, and we certainly have our own values and beliefs when it comes to this sort of stuff, but this isn’t propaganda -we actually believe it. Moreover, we don’t conveniently ignore evidence that contradicts our opinions.

I said the real impact of miner ganking, remember that you said problem not me.

10 day trial players was the sample used, truly meaningless. If you want to run around believing that sample means anything then feel free, I will just laugh, seriously?

In terms of the reduction in ganking of mining barges and Exhumers, good, they had been made too easy to kill previously and the balance is about right now in terms of tank. The only issue is that the Skiff and Procurer have had their agility nerfed way too much and it is silly.

And I would be happy to participate in this thread if you remove the word nerf from the start of it, otherwise I will avoid posting here because I do not agree with the basic premise of the name.

What an absolute bellend

Of course you will. 77 posts so far (and there’ll be more of course):

That’s some disciplined avoidance.

I think you will find that was before my hiatus, but when does facts ever sit with you and your fake news and misinformation? And lack of understanding on key mechanics, haha

Don’t dodge the one question I asked you. Why is that a problem? And, while I’m at you, do you dispute my opinion on the matter, and if so, why?

Is it a problem? I said the impact, you changed that to problem.
