Don’t be lying I haven’t been to low in a long time. But yes I like the other stuff you are saying keep going… Flattery is welcomed.

Well that’s mighty odd…as my killboard is nothing but PvP and PvP is the only reason I play the game.
A 100% PvE MMO would be an utterly pointless thing. Why bring 20,000 people together if they are not going to interact with each other and they might as well all just be playing first person shooters ??
If that is what you like go for it, when I get home I will check you out on zkill I hope you have Etch lined up like a 100 times.
No one said they wanted this. I certainly don’t want this. It just isn’t 100% PvP, it is a mix of everything. And there are different levels of space for different activities.
So you can start your own empire and own space, farm it, protect it, upgrade it, and expand it. High Sec is an area of growth, gankers are cancer that hinders that growth and adds little to no teaching. It is either gets on a toxic griefer path or you are a bigot. I mean okay and fine, but it is very interesting to listen to people talk about what ganking value adds to the game.
JJ
That’s really just semantics. ‘Suicide ganking’ is restricted to highsec because there the exercise necessarily involves suicide of the predator. The only difference between a 0.5 system and a 0.4 system is Concord response. A Catalyst attacking a venture in 0.5 is otherwise technically no different to that same Catalyst attacking that same Venture in 0.4…they just don’t have the Concord timer in 0.4.
What’s more, there is a nice balance in that whatever bravery you can attribute to the Venture for going into lowsec is counterbalanced by how much easier it is for the Catalyst in lowsec. So the overall ‘bravery’ balance is the same.
im still waiting for my explanation by the way.

You dont need to look very far to find posts about people getting ganked and then getting given isk by the person that ganked them to replace the ship as well as a conversation about what happened and how to avoid it next time.
A service that i assume you will tell me can be coded into diamond rats.

I can already envision the narrated messages in local chat:
Diamond NPC > GF
Diamond NPC > You got ganked because you were afk, or not dscanning, or not fit properly, or are just without care in the world.
Diamond NPC > We hope you appreciate our patronage.
Diamond NPC > If you would like to avoid being targeted for a gank, please send 100M ISK to your nearest Safety. officer to obtain a permit.

That is simply not true. Any MMO game is by definition 100% PvP. The entire reason for bringing 20,000 people together online at the same time is the interaction between players. That is why Eve is an MMO and not simply a single player game with NPCs run on AI.
You cannot play Eve as if it were a single player game and moan that some of the 20,000 other people online ‘interfered’ with your single player game…when the whole idea of you being in a space with 20,000 other people IS that you interact with them !

Not going to lie that is pretty funny.

It isn’t and there are plenty of MMO out there that are not. Most MMO have PvP areas, and I have semi-floating that idea along a list of ideas with many others. There are a few ways to tackle it if CCP wanted to fix it, which is the best, not sure.

Interaction isn’t only PvP, you could be in a mining fleet, exploring together, running rats together or doing missions together. There are so many ways to interact. I do agree the interaction in the game does make it more enjoyable, accomplishing things together is bonding, and losing together is value added as well.
JJ
And for what reason?? Is a venture or retriever mining barge really that valuable to you as a prize or profitable to kill for isk??
If you are getting ganked in a Venture in highsec you are doing something wrong. I’ve mined in a Venture in highsec for months on end and never been ganked doing so. Part of this is being in a corp with intel ( which I often provide myself when I am not mining ) but a good deal is just being 100% aware, having gankers on bad standing, not mining too close to the landing point, having the distance to the nearest station be shorter than the distance to any gate the gankers may enter through…and so on. There are also a number of pretty safe systems to mine in, where gankers seldom appear. God knows why anyone mines in Isanamo when there are much safer systems not that far away.
why is there a need to go after new players in high sec?
Define “new player”. Is a 3-day old character flying a Mackinaw new?
Occasionally ofc yes, but nowadays it just seems like the norm rather then the exception.
That seems like a bit of a stretch.
Takes me back to the very beginning of this thread where players losing blingy Ravens were being painted as new players.
Most MMO have PvP areas
The whole of Eve is a PvP area. You seem to want a situation where you can turn round and say ’ hey…you can’t interfere with me right now, I’m in the middle of PvE ! '. But that is just not how Eve works.
You cannot just shut yourself into some single player mentality and have everyone else just conveniently ’ go away’ while you chase rats or mine with a ’ DO NOT DISTURB - PVE IN PROGRESS’ sign above you. Eve is designed so that anyone can attack you anywhere, any time. It is fundamental to the game. It is why the second ‘M’ in MMO stands for multiplayer.
How does a ganker know any of these things when they are hunting targets? They don’t.
You are responsible for your own safety in highsec, and shouldn’t fly ships you can’t afford to replace.
A venture kill may appear to be pointless at first glance but it could be used to control territory, hinder bots and miner competition. Or it could be just for the lols, since CCP ■■■■■■ wardecs.
While I do understand the mechanics of the game and accept the fact you can lose everything it just feel so extremely frustrating when you get ganked over and over in “High Sec” which is a joke because where is the security?
I am sorry you feel frustrated.
You probably know all these things so I might just be repetitive at this point. The security is there to punish, not prevent. Being slippery prey, even in high sec, is a good PvP skill to build. Being able to look at character bios in local and determine their threat, is also a PvP skill. Using D-scan is also a PvP skill. But all this to keep you alive for PvE, by building your private “prevention security” on top of the High “Punish” Security of >0.5.
Looking at your kill board, you only have 2 losses in 6 months. 1 in high sec and 1 in low sec. That seems pretty successful slippery PvP to me, I am sure there could have been worse outcomes.
If you want no pvp just go play on the test server and don’t let yourself cheat.
It isn’t and there are plenty of MMO out there that are not. Most MMO have PvP areas
Most Mmo’s have shity pvp thou, eve is arguably one of the best, pvp experiences.
When they do happen which is seldom these days
If you want what another mmo offers why not just play that other mmo instead of trying to turn eve into that.
those other MMO’s usually have other issues to compensate, Its been a few years since i last played Eldwer Scrolls Online but i rember back then that some of the armour sets that were considered PVE sets were only obtainable through running PVP content. And people lost their minds about that. So while the PVE and PVP areas were separate the developer was trying to get PVP players to PVE and vice versa.
In addtiona to that to stop uber farming lots of the really good items were account bound. So you couldnt sell them. The in game economy also sucked.
For Eve to make a move to that kind of system would be a total regression. Currently we have no restrictions……we can do what we want where we want as long as we accept the consequences of that.
Another ESO example. It always sucked when your mat farming route happened to link up with someone elses and they managed to get to nodes just before you. There was nothing that could be done. you just had to suck it up or go somewhere else. In eve if someone is stalking you and trying to steal your wrecks or loot you can chose to take a stand………and equally they could be baiting. It adds depth that these games with complete separation dont have.
We are talking about ganking like if you get rid of it and prevent aggression in “safe zones” that all griefing in these safe zones goes away. But it doesnt. Players will just start following players running PVE and bump them off commander wrecks in DED sites before stealing it. The difference is now that the very mechanic that would help you pre-emptively stop them (making a stand or getting a friend in a cheap ship to do it) is off the table.

I think that amazon game New World tried to get around this by giving a resource boost by having pvp mode active while gathering resource nodes but what happend was people just left pvp mode off and complained that people with pvp on got more resources than them xD never understatement player stupidity.
Eve’s solution is best imo.
I think JJ is a CCP alt trolling.
Kudos for a good job!
Haha, he got me good.
I actually believed he is an idiot.
