When I was ganked…the one and only time…it wasn’t in a mining ship. I’d taken my Condor to 0.5 Aurcel to rat, and did fine going round the asteroid belts zapping the NPCs. Then one day I arrived at a belt that had loads of wrecks, loads of NPC miners, and my Overview was not optimised to not display the clutter so I simply didn’t notice the Catalyst creeping up. Lesson learned…and its not a mistake I would ever make again.
Every ship loss has taught me something. That is how Eve should work…losses are lessons, not 'Oh my God, its the end of the world '. For example losing my Algos to a bait ship taught me all about bait ships and shield purgers…which I had never heard of before. My most recent loss of a Gnosis in lowsec taught me all about the sheer power of mega lasers…I was up against a 1000 DPS Praxis. Which I have now created myself thanks to that incident. And it emphasised not being complacent…as I’d used my scout alt to check for gate campers on the way there but complacently failed to use it on the way back !
Every loss has actually made me stronger and more determined. Which is precisely why I resent those who come on here and try to ‘defend’ some sort of poor victimhood status and want to make Eve easier.
Fire the burst jammer whenever someone is attempting to gank you
Gankers pride themselves on their killboards. Concord killing them doesn’t count against them on zkill. If you burst jam them all of their losses will start counting against them. You’re probably going to die anyway, might as well go down swinging amirite? Hit them in the killboard where it hurts most.
I’ve stopped ganks with a burst jammers many times , only once did i survive intact , the security hit is very high so you need clone tags ready to fix your security states.
Remember gankers aren’t stupid, these are some of the most devious and cunning pilots in eve. One group worked out which pilots where on burst Duty. They would assign a group of gankers to take out our ew burst ships on their death dive into the gank ball.
All this added to the fun but like all AG tactics it can be counted. So burst are in our Arsenal but it takes a lot of pilot skill to pull it off , incidentally we have found its a useful skill to have as a group especially in station defence. A skill we try and practise when we can.
Btw we use cheap frigs with the powergrid to fire a burst and run a prop mod and for non alpha’s sometimes a cloak
If the map that was shared around does come into effect and if gankers are forced to do their style of hunt in lowsec then they too will be hunted by real pvp pilots.
Oh I agree, I was on the receiving end of the [Morbin Out] call for backup [Snuffed Out] Black Ops Drop if you’re familiar with that sort of encounter.
