What a nasty old coot.
I have an expendable alt toon who lives permanently in Uedama. Meanwhile my AG account is still training up on skills…still 2 days to go on rocket skills for the Corax…and skills for my Thrasher. I have quite an armada of ships now. I had great fun dodging RIOT at Dodixie to get 200mm Cannons, HAIL S, rockets, gyrostabilisers, etc.
Did that answer your question. You can have some fun and a lot of success and I am sure that someone could do something great. However this gives you an idea of what you are up against.
As always when you develop such content you have to keep people interested, and anyone who has run a corp with active people will tell you, keeping them eager and interested can be hard.
The Thrasher is a decent one to train up and very useful in taking out ganker scouts. Have fun with that, speak to others and gang up.
That Crucifier fit is really good for catching them on gates:
[Crucifier, *Neg Ten]
IFFA Compact Damage Control
200mm Rolled Tungsten Compact Plates
F-89 Compact Signal Amplifier
1MN Monopropellant Enduring Afterburner
Faint Scoped Warp Disruptor
F-90 Compact Sensor Booster
Balmer Series Compact Tracking Disruptor I
Dual Light Beam Laser II
Dual Light Beam Laser II
Small Ancillary Current Router I
Small Trimark Armor Pump I
Small Trimark Armor Pump I
Acolyte II x3
Warrior II x6
Gleam S x2
Aurora S x6
Optimal Range Disruption Script x1
Tracking Speed Disruption Script x1
Scan Resolution Script x1
You will need to modify for skills bu sit at gate ganker comes in, put AB on, have sensor booster running, have drones out and disruptor, guns, remote tracking disruptor hot, which means flashing so they apply to the targetted ship. Target ganker when he decloaks then orbit at 20 km. Fac police will arrive and finish him off. Works well for -10 the ones that can be shot by everyone.
Wow… A lot to unpack here.
Let’s go from the top:
If you always think of this game in terms if ISK or ISK/hr then you will never enjoy it. EVE is not a job. It is a multiplayer game that is infamous for its brutality.
You do realize that you are playing a “role-playing” game, right? People in any MMO are going to do that. However, as a counterpoint, if you actually got into comms of fleet with one of our many open gank fleets, you would realize the opposite is true. We understand that EVE is just a game and we don’t bring real life into it. In fact, some of the people we gank bring real life into it by threating us in real life and spouting racial or homophobic slurs. Tell me, and be honest with yourself, who is the bad guy in that situation?
Not sure how long you have been playing EVE, but if this is your viewpoint, then you have never really played the game. A target is a target. No true PVP player cares about the ISK. We want the kills.
There’s that word again: “Casual”. I don’t think it means what you think it means. I would like to point out once a gain that EVE is infamous for its brutality. It is not a “casual” game. If casual is what you are looking for, might I suggest Elite Dangerous? Or Hello Kitty Online? Maybe try out Minecraft.
You also mentioned noobs. You should realize that even new/alpha players with less than 1 day of skill training can gank and join our gank fleets. We welcome them with open arms, give them free gank ships, and teach them about the game.
Ah, we are back to thinking about money and ISK again. First, if you ever spend that much money on this game, then you should evaluate your playstyle. It is very easy to make enough ISK in game (even for a player only one month old) to get PLEX and not have to pay. I assure you that none of us pay money for our gank ships.
Ganking has been nerfed several times in the last few years. No more hyper-dunking (gankers can’t board ships from bay when criminal), no more bump-tackling (auto-warp after 3 minutes), Freighter and Mining Barge EHP buffs (twice), to name a few.
Um… We lose our ships. This is EVE. If you don’t want to lose your empty freighter, then don’t pilot into the most well known gank system in the game. The fact that you don’t even have to guess what system I am talking about speaks volumes.
If you pay attention, you can play for three months and already have several lowsec/nullsec kills under your belt. If all you care about is ISK, then you are probably going to fail. If you don’t want to interact with other players in this multi-player game, then you are probably going to fail.
Nullsec is one of the safest places to play the game if you want to AFK mine, crab, or bot missions and not actually play the game. Want to show off your skill? Try to PVP in hisec. I bet it is not as easy as you make it out to be.
Wait… I thought it was $50?
I like it that even hardcore anti-gankers like Githany Red disagree with you and believe that our targets often times deserve what they get.
Maybe you will enjoy the game more if you actually try to play it.
This exactly! All those poor noobs in their triple ore bulkeaded obelisks. Grr hat gunkers!
You know what the obvious solution is right?
Or just don’t go to a SoE hub ROFL.
I know a place where a dude runs missions in a thunderchild and gankers never come. Learn to EVE kthx.
Or just learn how to avoid them. It is literally not hard. I’m sorry you gotta learn situational awareness in a PvP game
The fact that you think Shipwreck or anyone really that disagrees with you is a ganker is just hilarious
Or maybe just run missions somewhere else if Hawk’s fleet is in system. If only we had some sort of way to find out whoever was in system with us. I wonder what we could use?
Dang. I’m embarrassed as I never realized that particular thought until now. Good catch.
Bro, I need you to calm down and realize something. Ganking isn’t griefing. Ganking is supported gameplay. Until you understand that, you got no leg to stand on brother
Uh you got any proof of that or
You realize ship value and the actual loot drops are different numbers right?
I can’t tell if you’re serious or trolling. If serious, well lolcakes to you bud. Moral standards? This is an open world PvP vidya game. Also they got a pletheroa of tools to avoid being ganked.
I did? Is it my fault their stupid and haul 300 bil one time thru the most dangerous system in high sec?
How is that even the gankers fault?
LOL
One day I’ll drop my AG guide. However, most won’t do it as it actually does take work. AGing doesn’t have supporters cause we got AGers like Drac
He was bragging about stopping ganks and posting old killmalls from November What he didn’t say is it actually stopped the gank. Just cause you’re on the KM doesn’t mean you stopped it LOL.
Not really. Peeps just aren’t smart enough too. I know the way, but the thing is, do ya’ll deserve it? And even if I tell you, will anyone actually do it?
Why you lying?
Missile ships are terrible AG ships. You need DPS to kill them quick before they pop the ship. You want blaster boats.
If you wanna go full glass, I’d even use polarized. Just know if they turn on you, you’ll burn fast. You can go the hull tank buffer route. But then it also impacts your DPS. I’d personally use a DC/rigs for hull tank and devote the rest to dmg/tracking.
Huh. Finally someone who gets it. Search the buy orders. Sometimes peeps will sell them directly at the stations.
Bro you literally did it
Wouldn’t be feasible. Easier to grind in low now since its mostly deserted. Drac doesn’t even really play yennoe.
I dunno, one of the guys we gank with makes 15b /month just a few jumps from Jita using NPC stations and public courier contracts. Minimal effort. Just buys the minerals straight from market, starts jobs, then moved finished product to sell in Jita.
This is 100% because of the Marauder buffs. If they weren’t dying in Marauders they’d be dying in Faction Battleships. The people getting killed in mission pockets are sitting on the beacon at 0, but most Marauders are killed in transit at gates.
The reason the T2 ones are dying is because enough profit is being generated from the guys with 2b+ fits. So why not shut down every Faction Battleship and Marauder from gaining SOE LP if you have the opportunity? Plus when you’ve been scouting for a while and youre bored and all you see is the T2 guy he’s gonna die
Yep. Its funny cause peeps just grind SOE LP. I’m not even sure why? Is it really the most high value?
A lot of navy stuff still sells well.
I am split on the topic.
Both sides have arguments and I strongly feel ganking as a Gameplay Mechanic should not be removed.
I absolutely understand the idea of ganking victims who fly around dreaming, afk, fitting insane bling on ships with low tank (greed…) and so on. No tears for them. Even the funny part of feasting off their tears and complaints is somewhat acceptable.
However I see more and more killmails of proper tanked ships without bling, just “because it works”. Even empty Battleships, Orcas, Freighters with brick tank fittings. Destroyers virtually cost nothing compared to the amount of ISK the gankers have available and even a complete loss from a failed attempt does not hurt them at all. The whole fleet is peanuts and already the next dozen Catalysts are fitted and ready on a station nearby.
Is there an easy solution to satisfy both parties? Probably not, since their views on what should work and what not are completely opposing.
I for myself would like to see two things:
Destroyer redesign to what they are advertised in their description: Anti-Frigate. Reduce their offense by around 30% (max 6 guns), increase the mineral costs for the hull to around 3-5M. In return give them more buffer, more cap, more medslots for tackle and application, pure damage-projection boni and 2 utility highs for RR, neuts whatever. They could fit in their role as anti-frig perfectly but if used for ganking you would need more ships than now and more ISK on the table.
Merge “Damage Controls” and “Assault Damage Controls” into one “Emergency Damage Control” module that has a low passive bonus and a huge active one. Every ship can fit one so if you are not afk and dreaming you can boost your defenses for a short time (hopefully until CONCORD arrives) if you choose to sacrifice a lowslot (and constant attention) for it, and the gankers need to either live with more fails on “active” targets or calculate twice the gankingships to make sure they can overcome even active players who fitted an EDC. Ships like Assault Frigates, HACs etc. can then receive Boni for the EDC like duration, reactivation delay, fitting requirements or effect strength.
(And for gods sake make freighters fully fittable (yes, fully: rigs, lows, meds, highs). Cannot be that hard to calculate acceptable base values for them so you cannot exceed the max intended cargohold, Jesus Christ.)
just my few cent’s, anyone is free to disagree.
You’d just be turning destroyers into non-hulls like they were before the change, and they’d never be used again. Gankers would switch to T1 cruisers instead.
Also, you’re trying to balance ganking by cost, which isn’t and has never been a good idea. Gankers aren’t the players who are playing badly so that fees should be levied against them. Would an empty freighter or Orca die any less if gankers needed to spend an extra 4 million ISK per hull? No, right? Then why charge the extra money? It’s smells of more of the “one more nerfism” that makes the play style more tedious without achieving any intended practical effects.
The real question you should be asking yourself is “should ganking be further nerfed, or should the skills and intelligence of the players who are gank victims be buffed?” Most players who argue against ganking dip from the well of the former, and never draw a single drop from the latter. How about for once instead of asking CCP to nerf ganking yet again, we ask CCP to implement new tutorials and educational campaigns into the game that would help players learn about the dangers waiting for them out in space?
Hm, since we are talking about a rebalance of ship attributes…
I wonder why a mining barge has more EHP than a warship - like a retriever has more tank than a Vexor? Why does a freighter have more strength than a battleship?? Why would rorquals be “invulnerable” but dreadnoughts are not?
I think they should redesign the game so non-combat spaceships are weaker than combat ships, even if this makes it difficult for non-combat players to go AFK.
The simple answer is that carebears don’t want realism, since realism would entail having armed escorts for industrial vessels.
They would prefer to solo-AFK-mine and be protected by a magical police force that instantly appears and destroys their attackers within 20 seconds, thank you very much.
Dear CCP,
The gankers keep blowing up my ships…
What do you mean I can’t substitute my shield mods for survey scanners? Why do I need a damage control mod when what I need is more ore…
Please make my covetor 200k ehp and have a 3rd upper slot so I can doomsday those evil miners.
Please make an afk invulnerability core so that I can go to the moves, go shopping head off to that dental appointment and return to play eve for the next 30 sec and be rrrrich!
Please change the game so I can turn off pvp and get to the business of full time bot mining and rmt.
Thanks
Crybaby miner
How about flight simulator, for those who cry about this game… you can set the auto pilot. There are easy landing settings… and no pesky catalysts…
Some people have no emotional IQ (EQ) and a sandbox game is going to hurt you feelings over and over again.
Rather than beg ccp to bend to your will, how about - step out of your little retriever bubble and learn how to win at eve…
I am so proud of you.
Real life is just as lame. If I was president, emperor, dictator, god, or w/e of a country I’d have my cargo ships loaded with mounted weapons and the personnel would always be strapped and have body armor. No somalian pirate would be able to jack them and legit threats can be dealt with at a distance with its mounted weaponry. Pirates would look to unarmed vessels and militaries would beware. I’d still put an escort fleet to it as well. Both above and below the water.
They already have guards and mounted weapons. The difference is that in real life, they’re still cargo/industrial ships, and have absolutely no armor or defensive capabilities (meaning that even a single RPG hit at the water line can result in significant damage), while in EVE, industrial ships have more durability than combat ships of the same class.
Makes sense. They’re assembled in space so you can afford to float a huge chunk of armor into the side of a vessel
Could literally mold an armor piece in space a mile wide, just never go planetside.
How are you going to propel that ship then?
They do take forever to get places…
