Problem this causes is that people absolutely lost their minds over the trig rats. People will definitely lose ships to these but unlike gankers…………they are everywhere…….and spawn regularly and will generally be 10 times as inconvenient to gankers.
Selfishly i would say this. I mine 2 or 3 times a week and its been months since I’ve seen a ganker. I feel like i have the ganking problem solved by simply not mining anywhere near anywhere they would be. But trig rats are not a problem i feel like i can solve. It’s a permanent inconvenience regardless of where you mine.
I was new bro when the trig rats were a thing. They were a far bigger problem to me starting out than gankers ever were. Constantly having to relocate to avoid them because a venture stands no chance.
Overall ganking is by far the lesser evil in my opinion.
A curious response when the example in question relates to an alpha character. But still i stand by my points. I’d much rather that the alpha character had a range of choices all with their own drawbacks………than having game mechanics altered to make one option safe.
But player reviews say it. And that was a huge part of me coming to this game. It doesn’t have to say it for it to be how it is.
The social contract is not a “real world” construct. It just happens when humans socialize, no matter the setting. Again your using flawed logic and a lack of knowledge of the topic as a defence.
Explaining socialized concepts to sociopaths is like trying to explain rocket science to sociopaths.
Let me explain the game designer concepts. The world is “new Eden” as the garden of Eden. As in the choice of good and evil. The game is a social experiment to say the least and is a true sandbox. But the game developers missed one thing. The restrictions in high sec only affect the good people not the evil people.
I got a green button and you are daisy cutters. This is not competition, but a joke. You should have competition for this to be a proper game, and not exploitative game porn for the depraved.
Edit: keep in mind CCP does provide game data to social scientists, don’t be so sure your in game actions don’t have real world consequences. ring of gyges, answered in eve.
Fair points, maybe not trig level, but the dial is turned somewhere to increase or reduce destruction. Because we all seem to agree that is something that has to happen.
I see where you are coming from here. I too read reviews of a product for feedback. But my biggest point to be pushed is that you cann’t push one playstyle without pushing the other. And it would be a very fine line of balance in there. Low sec I think is very underutilized and a perfect in-between for PvP goers that want that excitement of combat with another player.
The moment you make someone else responsible for your emotions and emotional well being, you give them power over you and you become a victim of their actions.
I don’t understand where you are getting the “it’s my way or the highway” speel from, but if I venture a guess, it’s rooted in a victimized mentality. I could be wrong.
If CCP didn’t intend ganking in high sec, they would make it impossible for one player to attack another.
But the fact that they have a whole C&P system set up, shows that it is, a valid form of play.
And if you take a moment to familiarize yourself with the core premise of the game, as stated by the developers upon its conception all those decades ago, pvp is an integral part of creating a dystopian, dark, futuristic space game where space is dangerous and filled with ruffians.
Highsec was never meant to be a utopia. It has a police force that responds to aggression, and like a police force it takes a bit of time for them to respond.
Let me respond to just that, yes CCP intended people to fight people in high sec. Just like they intended for all gankers to be killed by other players and the police force. That is why its against the rules to stop concord from killing you after you have attacked.
But a fleet of 25 catalysts controlled by one person. No, sorry they didn’t intend for computer power to overwhelm the game and using some software tool that makes it easy to control mass numbers of ships. These are out of game advancements and the game now needs to be updated to stop the 1 man controlling 25 ships or 100 ships. Eventually we will have one man 100 ship fleets and the game will be broken.
Stop using false equivalency for your arrangements, i have to shoot down so much cognitive bias with you is tiring, stop defending the bull.
Not deep-rooted victimized mentality, simply a question to your comment of, if you don’t like it quite. And maybe right, maybe not I guess what the forums are for.
I do agree with not letting someone be responsible for your emotions, but there is an emotional response to everything in the game, even you have this responses. And that shouldn’t be ignored, and why the feeling of being blown up in Abyss and being ganked is two different feelings with the same outcome.
I don’t think CCP thought yes let’s build ganking into our game, I think it is a byproduct they have had to deal with. Shooting a ship that can’t shoot back, I don’t think a logical developer step to program in. Player fight for space, war, duels, proving ground are activities specifically programmed into the game. I could see a decent argument around bounty system as paid ganking. Maybe a different day discussion.
And there are no Utopia talks here, full agreement is we need destruction, it is how we achieve that destruction that makes the discussion really for all ganking.
Oh good to know, i like the name more now. As devils are angels in the mythology. Only the choice of good and evil decided their names. And of course stars are angels. Works for me.
The lobbying for over a year by people like you got wardecs nerfed into what they are now. PPL like me told yall what to expect…now you and others like you cry about increased ganking and larger gank fleets…
Yeah….you’re the only one who does that. No one else in eve looks at new trends, updates, changes to null doctrines etc. In all honesty, if you are looking at market graphs for trends, you are already 2-3 days behind.
I was defending wow being a good game via the actual head count of players online every day since people around here thinks it sucks. If that were the case, their head count would be lower but it’s higher and in that game the grand majority of players play on one account. So when there’s x amount of players online there you can believe 98% of them are single accounts which means a much larger head count than eve online where if you see 25k you can safely subtract a third and your guess work would be pretty accurate to the actual head count of the entire game.
I get it eve is dying and the meme has to come true though. Keep things the same and stagnate into oblivion. People can never claim I didn’t try.
