Nerf Ganking Megathread

No because i would love to see EvE get back on its feets. And getting rid of griefing would be a step in the right direction.

Thank you for adressing the actual matter of my post constructively.

However the point is, that it breaks game immersion that suicide gankers willingly sacrifice their valuable ships and thousands of crew members as they know full well that they will get obliterated and loose everything in the ship when attacked by authorithies - all because “that covetor mining over there is doing something boring we must attack it.” It makes no sense.

CCP at fanfest said they’d address griefing.

But they also said high sec ganking would stay.

Because there is a difference.

Excactly and when you know so incredibly many people that have left because of highsec ganking, you start to wonder.

Because you cannot think for yourself and must rely on CCP (which increased the price for omega/plex) to think for you? Yeah they are slowly destroying their game patch after patch but when they say something YOU like then they’re the best.

If you think capsuleers just sacrifice their ships for lulz lorewise, i dont know what to tell you

Honestly i think CCP is wrong when it comes to highsec ganking, they are way too much on the side of the gankers. Thats the point of the original post.

CCP has done nothing good for so long and yet you do trust them, i rest my case.

It was interesting talking with you all. For me this game has a illogical and nonesensical universe where i do not feel immersed like other fantasy games. This is due to highsec ganking, a practice that dosent make sense from a immersion or lore POV in my opinion.

The game has many other qualities and its always interesting to have a debate so thanks for that. Also i hope you all remember, that almost everybody knows someone who quit EVE after getting ganked in highsec.

Eve is not meant for mass appeal, and it’s purposefully designed not to be a safe themepark with no-pvp zones.

Dude, you don’t even care about logical consistency. You say you do, but you ignore the one I brought up about a perfect police force that responds nearly instantaneously, always shows up, can’t be bribed, is immortal, ramps up to infinite damage, never makes mistakes, never hesitates, never kills innocent bystanders, and never lets a criminal escape destruction ever.

Oh, but ganking has to go because planets worth of imaginary crew are dying. Game ruined. Literally unplayable.

And that’s even before we get to all the other video game logic this game is filled with.

Please don’t turn New Eden highsec into Dalaran.

It does make sense. If you take Safety, for instance, they blow you up because they’re asserting their control over the region. You pay their fees and play by their rules or they are hostile to you. You can, in turn, side with another faction hostile to them, and that’s how we get open world PvP conflict. Especially in highsec, the defenders have the advantage, so it’s a good place to take a side and do something about the problem in game, but most people don’t because it takes time, effort, attention, or isk they don’t want to spend and the problem is not all that big.

I’m sure some people would differ on this point, but I don’t think Highsec was supposed to be a place where you grind until you can do something. It was supposed to be a place where you could make stuff happen, but with extra rules that ensure you are usually safe unless you stir up trouble or get someone’s dander up by being somewhere you’re not welcome, and even then only that someone will, for a fee, be able to hurt you without the cavalry destroying everything he brings to the fight.

Griefing is bad. Your mistake is in assuming that non-consensual PvP is inherently griefing.

What about a police force that puts criminals in jail and stops them before they can commit hainous acts?

Well i mean non-consensual pvp = griefing, this is just part of what it is, in high sec that is. Low and null are another story

CCP isn’t going to lock any safeties. I’m just saying that, if they thought ganking was an issue in all these years, they could have done something about it. That’s why ‘solution’ is in scare quotes. There’s no problem.

(Making an assumption on your meaning here since I have no idea what “Dalaran” is.)
