Oh god, do I dare say anything?

Ahem, well, I’m a new casual player. Maybe not brand new, technically, as I created my awful-named character a couple of years ago, tried to play on a MacBook Air and found that was untenable. Now, I have a GeForce Now (beta I guess) and while they figure out how I’m able to actually play this thing like they say I can, I’ve dusted the…dust off of my cringe-chills character and I am dipping my toes in for a proper taste.

This game has been on my jaded gaming radar for about a decade. Ever since the crazy stories started making their way around the webs, then the book, more stories, and, finally, a way for me to sort-of proper PC game at a price point my spouse wouldn’t castrate me at - enter Nvidia Shield + GeForce Now. Before I picked that little baby up I had been consoles - all consoles - all the way.

Maybe you don’t want a bunch of console jockeys flooding in, but if GeForce Now (and Stadia, or any other cloud/virtual streaming service) are any indication, the ability to PC game is going to become a lot more accessible for a lot more people much sooner rather than later. It would seem it would behoove developers too embrace this because money.

Anyways, I recognize I’m just a single extremely noob voice. But, any gamer - console or not - worth their salt knows what Eve is and is equal parts fascinated, giddy, and terrified by it. Maybe I’ll make it three days before throwing up my hands and crawling back to [enter boom bang crack reload zing FPS]. Or, maybe I’ll rise up through the ranks of some Corp, only to be devastated by the Goons in some fruitless and misguided offensive attack, which would be like being killed by your favorite celebrity.

Okay, I’ll crawl back into hi sec and finish some tutorials. Or, not?

It’s kind of hilarious to see highsec carebears trying to use an actual problem to support their risk averse agenda. Thanks for the info, it’s all making sense now.

Well this old vet is coming back, just got laid off for a couple weeks, I’m glad I subbed for a year couple months back.

The thing is I’m worried about committing to a time sink by joining a corp, I have my own Corp, just me, me and me. Not too fun, same stories and such.

I want to go back to low sec, that’s where I started it being back memories of being a poor as church mouse ratter for the first 10 years.

I’m glad the numbers are down I always felt it was too crowded i like the emptiness of space.

I never had any problems with the pirates and such. Lost a few ships, rage quit over a battle ship I struggle to get when in delve. Lol the was my best ship. I didn’t quit because I lost it I was mad I didn’t see the trap in time, I saw the lookout but I jump anyway.

Just want to say this since I started in 03 no one thought EVE would have lasted this long,

I’m glad it’s still here I’m going check out my old haunts, make new enemies/friends.

Boom Boom Longtime, your opinion doesn’t matter to those that count.

I stand with you, but unfortunately it’s useless.

a fabricated number, asked, infact begged by CCP during a live stream to log on as many accounts as you can to get the number to a new record, the record was broken, end of, there was never 65k players online daily.

the sky is falling again like it does every summer. thanks for reporting it. again!

Contex…first rule in a conversation is get aware of the context…

I wasn’t stating “eve is dying” i was stating “if your nightmare of an eve will become real and you play with 5000 other fools eve will die because it’s not profitable anymore”…

Slight but important difference…

Next time PLEASE…Before you answer anything make sure you UNDERSTAND what is meant to protect you against embarrassments like this.

These kind of answers from the forums are all too common, they’re just poorly disguised insults that don’t add anything else to the conversation. Unfortunately for you, I’ve already address your claim of “if your nightmare of an eve will become real and you play with 5000 other fools” as being a positive.

Whether or not EVE will die is still up in the air. You haven’t provided any proof that this will happen. Just saying something doesn’t make it true unless you’ve got something to back it up.

That’s always the excuse - it’s summer, it’s holiday time, people going back to school, etc… the game has been bleeding players for years. It also so happens that this bleeding of players coincides with CCP making changes to core game play. They keep doing the same thing expecting different results, but life doesn’t work that way. If they want players to come back they need to get back to their roots.

what horse shite. hahahahaha

And how many of those are 1 person with a 10-man rorq fleet or CODE and their dozens of 25-man broadcast input fleets… LOL!! Individual players would probably put that number at ~10,000 at best.

EvE is dead. I agree with you all %100.

I’m sure you will be leaving this terrible game. I’m sure I will be following you out soon.

I would gratefully accept any isk or things you might graciously give me on your way out…just to show not everyone who played this game was a selfish toxic sociopath jerk.

I was quite drunk when I made this rambling last night - but regardless of wine consumed, I do believe everything said was indicative of reality and veritas of situation. CCP have reached the point where the “community” is give or take lost - I see no way how CCP will stem the falling online concurrent players now - and well, ultimately the blame for all of this current situation is not with the devs who still give a damn, but ccp upper management - they are accountable. I have learnt so much playing this game - it was a journey for me across a few characters. We are where we are because of the decisions CCP Upper Management have made - they are ultimately accountable. But, hey, if i’m wrong please tell me - albeit i’m going to bed again soon, so alas, i’ll endeavour to reply once the bed bugs have had their feed

I’m paraphrasing here, but I saw a show that had a funny but philosophical quote, something like “we all die. But you’re worried, worried, worried, and going to die. I’m happy, happy, happy, and going to die. See the difference?!?”

Why worry about it? Just enjoy the game day by day until you don’t. Plus what long term MMO has reached its previous peak numbers? Even WoW hasn’t regained its peak of 12 million, and probably never will. Nothing lasts forever, but PA put down over $400 million for a company that maybe makes $50 million per year, and PA likely did their homework for such a sum. Throwing out a wild number here, but I’m sure EVE’s got at least another 10 years of life left in it, since PA is gonna want a return on their investment. So sure, keep involved and let them know your opinions, but otherwise just relax and try to enjoy the show.
