NEW MAP

THE NEW MAP NEEDS TO BE LIKE OLD ONE WHERE PLAYERS IN SPACE BLOOM MORE ON THE SYSTEM SO YOU CAN TELL DIFFERENT AMOUNTS OF PEOPLE IN SYSTEM

I AGREE WHOLEHEARTEDLY.

I really like the new map, it’s look and it’s features, but the biggest failure of the new map is how it is unable to represent numbers.

Just look at this picture below:

Filter: people docked

We have systems without anyone docked:

Systems with more than 1 person docked.

Systems with hundreds of people docked.

This representation is pretty much useless. I have no idea if a system has 5 people or 90. I cannot tell if one system is busier than another unless it’s an order of magnitude of 2 bigger than the other. Aside from very few exceptions, this is useless.

In the old map the size of these circles scaled with the numbers, so you could easily tell that the big circles had higher numbers than the small circles. You could easily tell which system in a constellation is busier than others:

This is incredibly more useful than the new map.

Please fix this CCP.

As most UI “updates” we got it didn’t add anything but annoying stuff and on top of that it removed options, for “streamlining”. The map is supposed to give you quick and easy information and intel, you know for people who actually do more than just hang in a belt sucking on a rock. But just like the Bong sound we got on a kill the devs don’t actually and actively play the game so they’d never know, because if they did they’d understand and it would never have made it into the game in the first place.

Classic map supremacy, and not just for the OP’s reason.

That was already requested when the “new” map was released. It’s the main reason why many still prefer the old map for its data handling.

We can either keep asking for an update of the new map, and run the serious risk of having it in a Photon UI style version :grimacing: or … just pretend the “new” map never happened and keep using the old one ?

The biggest failure of the new map is the new design and data display style. But this is intentional because CCP outright stated that their goal with the map is to make the experience more beautiful, not more useful.

The only silver lining here is that they have not made this train wreck mandatory. However, with the last updates, they made the old map worse. It has become incredibly laggy to open the map, sometimes it closes right away or reopens on its own after closing it.

Yes… when it was first implemented I looked at it and never looked at it again…

Whether good or bad, players need to keep telling CCP what they think of the various iterations / changes implemented into this game…

If not then we’ll get stuck with having to contend with more god-awful stuff like their old blinding solar system ‘Sunshine’ effects… Lucky for us they eventually changed that stinking piece of :poop:…

There are ways to make things pop graphically: saturation, color, brightness, size. Old map used more of those, and the data was represented more obviously from first glance.
