New Notifications 🔴

:red_circle: I can see this being useful for VERY new players.
However for anyone who has played for a week or 2 and knows how everything works, it is just plain annoying.

Please add an option to disable the red dot.

It should be enabled for new characters by default, once they have the hang of things they can turn it off.

All I really want is a way to turn it off. Please.

how about instead of this red dot, just send an email to a RL email account.

  • runs away quickly

Please add possibility to disable red dots and black tooltips everywhere. Both features are developed for new players

How about deep integration with EVE app, opening new popup in it you have to click “OK” in after 3 sec wait time (To make sure that you’ve read this piece of vital information). Also, allow them to stack infinitely.

Well, you all should know, the new guy in eve, always had an impact. I think what he tried to achieve with that red dot is simple. You got Items in your inventory - then you have the case, that you are going to refine for an other guy. But you currently have already refined material in your hangar.

The idea was that you have the items you “new” refined highlighted, so that you can transfer it to the other guy waiting for his ore.

Unluckily it is not well implemented, because the ui stacks elements, which normally should not happen.

:green_circle: Approved !

Removed an off topic post.

:red_circle: Wish you guys were that fast to implement ways to keep players posting here.

I started playing EVE literally 2 weeks before the red dot was introduced. I remember being confused ONCE about where my stuff was, before I knew the difference between item hangar and cargo hold. I asked my corp chat for help, they told me. Never had a problem since.

As soon as the red dot was introduced, it annoyed me as much as it seems to annoy the 10 year veterans. I cannot imagine the level of retardation required that would make this a vital feature to anyone, and it scares me that CCP might actually be trying to make the game appealing to an audience that dumb.

Please, for the love of Bob, at least give us the ability to opt out of this nonsense.

Holy ■■■■

CCP must be laughing their asses off to see so much ink being poured for a red dot.

And I thought I had problems …

People have managed for 17 years without the red dot, is this just for the benefit of the Korean’s?

:red_circle: It’s not just them, it’s the general public who is lost when their smartphone apps don’t show a red dot to indicate something new is there. It is just another superfluous thing from the mobile world that some inexperienced, insecure and incapable developer newbie crowbars into other areas where it has no use or makes the experience worse.

Well sometimes talking about it not enough. So instead of renewing my yearly sub, I bought a one year premium account for WoT, same price, different game. It’s my birthday present to me, 63 today.

All total in two days $345.

ints not true, newest feature in mobile development is focus mode where only important notifications come trugh and you can choose with is important and when, its as more granulary information management to controll the stream of unused dots.
even large social networks and communikation apps start changing the “you have 20 new messages” to just a red dot on the screen.

and of course there are apps you dont run the whole time and only klick in if needet without any push notification or push only if nessesary

and the general public is not the eve players! its a complicated deep game with a lot of different gamestyles in one but as all can see here and on reddit this anoyning little red button and the SOUND! who comes with it is not helpfull but destroying the freedom players have its drawing attention to something who is allready drawing attention with the button blink or notifications or is just logical because you did the change in your cargo and hangar intentional.

at least there should be a setting you can switch it off if its a realy helpfull feature for hmm i dont know… chipmunks?
someone rmembering the new icon blink in necom and it was a long way and long rant to bring CCP to the point we can adjust it individualy?
someone remember the gong?
remember you could not adjust the notifications or even drag it arround.
remember the time you had a full rack of sound adjustments ccp stole from us for no reason?

You guys know nothing about UI design. What CCP really needs to do is add a sound that will play once for every number that displays inside the red dot. Something such as the Windows error message. It needs to play EVERY SINGLE TIME and as many times as the number indicates, and it needs to be PERMANENT just like the red dot is - we should never ever ever be able to disable it.
And if a person does not clear the red dot, the sound chain should begin again and again until the user clears it. May I suggest the checking interval to be around 5 or 10 seconds?

Glad to be of service

He didn’t. The critique is for Sakimura’s forum posts. Learn to read.

Good riddance.

…and many of us are paying customers who expect to be heard by CCP and ISD as their representatives. There is valuable feedback here for CCP—-it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what they should do with the red dot.
