Note for Hilmar

Hi Hilmar

I am stating this as I feel it definately needs to be said.

You created a great game. It’s name is Eve Online. Not Vanguard, Not Frontiers, not anything else. We (your player base) want to play Eve Online. Not a shooter, not an extraction FPS, and not a phone game. Maybe you should stick to what pays the bills.

EVE ONLINE!

Regards,

Ben

The audacity of ever thinking the CEO will care or even read it is something… It’s never a boring day around here.

I miss the old EVE forums…

This doesn’t negate my need to say it. I’m good with audacious.

Soon to be renamed to AI Online.

Likely.

There’s no “AI” in Fenris Productions… but there is a “…ENIS”.

Well, the upside is, if they let Gemini do the programming it can’t be worst than actual. At this point I don’t think we can lose… And that’s a bold statement I know…

Yes, we all can’t wait for AI-generated code to be integrated into EVE. There’s already enough dead code (aka: missions) that they won’t even touch with a 10-foot pole. Now all we need is the extra spaghetti that AI will randomly insert everywhere…

All the random code blocks will duke it out and we can witness the end result…

The old old forums with pre-2011 content however seem to have been lost to time and unavailable from an official resource, but a third party resource is accessible here:

Oh i don’t think anyone here thinks Hilmar listens to anything but the current buzzword, he has seemingly migrated from being a crypto bro to an AI bro

I’d argue. It seems that he became video game studio CEO “bro”, looking for funding.

The thing is the older we get, the more things change and loss is predictable. My dad missed his old Stutz Bearcat. I miss sitting at the kitchen table playing D&D for 14 hours straight. You miss an old forum. Join the club.

I love the fact that Goofle has this AI for Dummies who can’t learn to write code for themselves. I can’t code, maybe Fenris will hire old housewives to code using Deepmind? Then when something goes horribly wrong, all the housewives can all glare at Deepmind. Interns work cheap, they don’t need to code, just ask the AI, copy, cut, and paste.

Oh, back on topic… Hilmar keeps getting called by his first name as if you all live next door to him. His full name is Hilmar Veigar Petursson and if you want to show any respect this topic should reflect it “Note for Mr. Petursson”. If you were the head of a company, and your name was Jacob P. Smith, how would you feel with “Hey Jake! I got a few words for you.”?

Have fun!

I tried to understand most of what you said about AI, but I could not. Yesterday was wild and I wrote some confusing stuff myself so, ok.

About etiquette, your point is valid, but I inspected my interactions and others in programming “world” and it seems we lack proper american/uk etiquette, I don’t know why, my best guess is since people around the entire globe is involved it seems silly to adopt something that’s not part of the day to day.

Hilmar could have adopted a nickname to avoid being called by his first name, IF that is causing him any distress, I dunno what’s the etiquette in Finland, in my country is totally normal to use first name.

I’m addressing this part to give you some insight. The housewives part is beyond my comprehension what you meant, I’m for sure not a housewife.

Ok, I figured. He has a nickname: Hellmar. He’s FC Hellmar.

I’m not going to use his F name anymore. But angry people will… It’s between them and moderators.

We need the Princess of High-sec to comment.

That would shine the bat light.

Hmmm i wouldnt mind one bit. Where im from a first name basis is just fine…it even shows a closer working relationship and great comradery between us. Respect has its rightful places of course.

You must live in a beastly place if everyone is calling each other by their last names.

shrug :rose:

To be fair there are places where using a surname is pretty common, in Japan for example
