In a separate thread, I made the following post, and received feedback to post it as a separate topic:
On a completely different note, I wish the revamped NPE would at some point include a “mining mission” where an overwhelming hostile force would come in and blow up the new player’s ship. With a typical snarky Aura explanation how capsuleers do the same thing, even in “high security” space. The tutorial would continue and teach D-Scan basics… and all they have to do is mine a rock, warp when things show on D-Scan, wait for those enemies to leave, warp back to the rock, finish mining, mission complete.
Seems like a great way to teach a few different skills all at the same time, while also setting expectations.
I’m less attached to any specifics of the proposal above, it just felt natural to 1) teach the mechanics of D-Scan and 2) introduce/reinforce the culture of ganking/nowhere-is-safe in a mission.

NPE doesn’t teach dscan???
Not really, teaches probing, but not dscan
With a rapid deployment of ships dropping in on you out of the blue, dscan likely won’t save you anyway.
you can see them coming from 14AU away that gives you quite a lot of time to get away. D-scan is vital in eve. my V key is completely faded
