I very much understand where she thinks she gets the authority. She thinks she has the authority because she thinks she’s an actual commissioned officer of the Caldari military. Which, of course, she’s not. She’s an independent mercenary who’s enlisted in the State’s militia program. However, what she’s just so pathetically desperate to not admit is that all that the militia means is that she’s been issued what amounts to a Letter of Marque and Reprisal.
“Go and kill our enemies in our name, and we’ll reward you for it. Murder and pillaging will not be held as crimes by the State, so long as you’re murdering and pillaging the people we want you to.”
It’s telling, though, that she can’t actually give the names of superior officers in the actual Caldari military (ie: not the militia) to whom her militia group is directly answerable, nor is she capable of even citing her pay grade. Because of course, she has none. She’s not really in the employ of the State military, she’s just a mercenary, a privateer. A pirate with a license.
If she were more, she could cite her pay grade. She could cite her chain of command. She could even provide documentation of these things. She could definitely do more than scream like a stuck pig and wave around empty threats of violence or court proceedings. But she won’t. Because she can’t. And she knows it. Even if she can’t admit it to herself.
And just to have it said: I understand everything you’ve said, despite the reverse not being true. I simply have no reason to respect your wishes. So listen to your Mistress Remi, and block me, Diana, because I’m not going away.
