Ok…NOW I think Eve is dying

Soooo…having watched the Fanfest keynote, with the “big announcement” of a new integrated fps (yawn) and precious little else, I’m finally going to say it. Eve Online as we know it, is in caretaker mode.

Is that really what it was?

Sorry i missed the live stream

There were a couple of new faction ships and a great-looking new Titan but absolutely nothing that looked like investment in the near future as far as I can see. Eve Online is already a great game - so why not fix and improve what we already have?

and again Ashterothi prophesized this

Hope the fps succeeds and add value to EVE, that’s all

Integrating new game modes to EVE (like mobile, FPS, VR) is a way to increase player base and multiply the lore possibilities (both pve- and players-driven). As long as they remain connected to the same universe.

There’s probably just so much people attracted to the classic EVE game mechanics. It’s time to reach new gamers if they really want the game to last forever.

I guess…I’ve just always felt that Eve Online’s huge point of difference was that it wasn’t all about controller reflexes etc and requires a huge investment in learning the mechanics - more 4x-ish than fps-ish.

Mind you, including logi in killmails is a massive gamechanger…I bet it takes them a year or so to do it tho.

Another waste of time and false hype…

Also, most of us have jobs. The first half of a Friday? like… wtf?

Here you go. I never watch the Black Desert version of this (mostly because I don’t speak Korean) but I wait for someone to summarize them for me.

ARENT, YOU HYPED FOR EVE FPS 2.0??

EVE FPS is the last thing we got dude. I am hyped up to murder people in EVE with my SMGs mafia style.

CAN’T MULTIBOX FPS GAMES!! I hope…

Yup gotta diversify. Products have a lifespan, and it is required study in business school. CCP is taking a gamble going into the highly saturated FPS market, but they are leveraging their uniqueness to hopefully break through. All we can do is send hope, positive vibes, and prayer to CCP HQ.

The FPS could be interesting if it adds new dimensions to warfare. For instance, in a tidilagfest over an Ihub, it could play out on planet to aid attacks on space infrastructure and give more things to do to progress whatever is going on while your ship is stuck in 10 minute server ticks.

But the rest was really lackluster, to say the least. Especially the instant travel to any system ship caster in Zarzakh is just pandering to instant gratification crowds.

Yes, you can see that in the posted video at time index 18:30 to 19:00. Personally I think the plushie is worth more, but that is just my opinion.
