Just like the white FBI and CIA van?
I support MSB. Because even though I never benefited from MSB myself. I think Mike’s efforts at getting ships and modules to struggling new players is a great thing. As anyone of those players is someone that potentially going to be buying from me one day.
I agree with you, John. Retention of new players is difficult. For every new player like myself. 5 or 6 others have or are about to quit. That 5 or 6 is just an opinion and should not be taken as an actual statistic.
I went Omega as it made better sense to me. But still one does not necessarily have to be Omega to enjoy and play the game. The bellyhoo of the trillionaires or the one that I like is that the large alliances and corps are all ijn control and there is no room for a starter.
Never realizing that there are plenty of smaller alliances in the game. Any or all of which can come up fast and replace the top alliances and corps at any point in time.
Goonswarm being a study in how to build and get d*mn near wiped off the board. To come back stronger. Nothing said the Imperium could have rebuilt or that other corps would be willing to join the alliance.
In fact there is a video that show different alliances grow and were destroyed. Some coming back. But a lot of the present large Alliances did not exist in any meaningful way or even existed 10 or 15 years ago.
The other how can I catch up? My answer is always. One fine day you will be a vet. Maybe a bitter vet. As long as you are playing. It will happen.
I do not support MSB. Because even though I benefited from MSB myself. I think Mike’s efforts at getting ships and modules to struggling new players is a naive thing. As anyone of those players is someone that potentially going to be dying from me one day.
I disagree with you, John. Retention of new players is easy. For every new player like myself. 5 or 6 others have or are about to start mining. That 5 or 6 is just a fact and should be taken as an actual statistic.
and yet is you come to me with an alt 30 days or less tomorrow? I will still give you a ship. I do not mind that you don’t support me. Naive? Perhaps but maybe I just play the game differently and like to see more folks playing it. So I do what I can with what I have.
Oh and Rookie help chat seldom advises folks to start by mining. Tis a poor way to start.

I usually do ten new alts at a time.
Someone pointed this out to me as I giving away tons of stuff. I vaguely remember speaking to you before over the years. I have stuff all over, not sure what else is useful for magic school bus besides the T1/T2 subcap subBS I have lying around in HS.
If anyone else does stuff like this, please reach out. I am guilty of not having been payin much attention to new player experince in the past four or five years so bit out of touch.
When receiving donations I have the basic rule that beggars cannot be choosers. If you send me three lumps of coal and Zephyr I will thank you for it.
But man o man, I hope that you DO manage to sail to Fanfest. That would be very cool.

If I may ask, what options do you give to players when you pass out a ship? For example, do you ask about their preferred racial frigate- or what activities they want to pursue?
I’ve never received a donation (nor would I need one) - but I’ve always been curious as to how you typically do it.
I told him I’m ganking so he gave me Catalyst blueprint!
The size of the Hull is determined by the players age, the race of the hull is determined by where we are, in Amarr space a 1day old will likely get a punisher, in Minmatar space a Rifter, etc.
If a player is chatty and says they really want to do exploration I also stock the racial t1 explorers at each stop
Occasionally I get someone asking for a Molok and I just laugh and move on.
There are (in my mind) Five types of Bus runs
- Resupply, Bowhead acrrying ships to cache at the various stops
- Quick run, Smaller ship (often a destroyer because I LIKE destroyers) carrying a few bpcs just trying to cover the stops quickly and move on.
- Silk Road Run, Midsize ship (Often a BC) that does all four races in turn, no clone jumping involved.
- Special event run. When I am celebrating some event I will often break Bus standard rules, hand out ships ignoring age or unfitted. What I fly is what I want and have handy. Often a firework Praxis. I may also stop and stay half an hour at one of the Bus bases inviting folks to come visit me for once.
- Field trips. Occasionally I do take one or two folks into the abyss to give them a basic introduction as to what that is
does that cover it?
