Orca point defense high slot for PVE

Are you implying that the belt rats in high sec will warp off after so much time has passed? I have not seen that at all. They go after my mining drones or peck away at my ship.

If you have any suggestions for a good Orca Fit, I would love to have a look at what you would suggest.
I have been trying to use these as a general guide.

She’s implying that it should be easy to kill the rats, assuming you actually brought combat drones. Are you seriously not bringing combat drones?

It’s almost like CCP have added rats with 10 (or more) times the DPS and EHP lately.

They are min maxing mining, using Orcas instead of Exhumers and don’t want to reduce that with non-mining drones.

This whole thread is just another example or the “biggest is best” cancer.

They need to nerf the holy ■■■■ out of Orca and Rorq drone mining. Like a -50% drone mining output bonus.

Orcas can only use a maximum of 5 Drones, so are you saying they should only be able to use -45 drones?

No, I left out the percent sign.

-50% mining output was what I meant.

Then they can fit combat drones to protect the Exhumer fleet!

And then they don’t fly Orcas because flying an Orca becomes super boring and even less isk earning.
The whole reason they got made into effective miners was so that it wasn’t just shove an alt in an Orca and leave them boosting while you ignore that client.
Attacks on mining fleets are so infrequent that having ships purely for defense is a joke. This got clearly worked out during the days before jump freighters and freighter escort runs. The constant insistence that high sec should have to do this when Null Sec complained so much an entire ship class was implemented and given special protected treatment is just silly.

Exactly, they fly Exhumers with ONE orca, the command ship.

That is the whole point.

Noooooo.
Because then it’s a pure alt job which does nothing functional but boost.
The whole point is that the Orca was to be valuable on it’s own, not just as a boost monkey.
That was literally a stated design goal of the change.

Now you are arguing for the removal of the entire concept of Command Ships.

Lets just make everything flat, no teamwork needed.

False goal.

Strawman much?
I’ve never said anything about removing the concept of command ships.
Just about the fact that command ships should do something other than just boost. (And that something involves it being functional, not a nominal feature that is worthless).

Why yes, CCP stating a goal which the change matches makes it a false goal…
No it doesn’t. Go get an icepack and put it where it hurts, because now you are just whining.

That’s not CCPs goal, that is just your made up interpretation.

In any case the idea is bad, many others have commented the same, let die already.

Stop talking rubbish.
CCP said it at the time in the design threads or talks around the whole Orca, Rorqual & CS redesigns.
Just because the idea has issues doesn’t mean you can blatantly lie about other things.

link or lie.

To be very specific.

Now are you going to stop being ignorant and actually accept people who disagree with you might actually know what they are talking about.

Or an ore hold…

Or a hauler…

Yup, total misinterpretation.

Notice how many times they use the words Mining FORMAN Path?

Not Mining Path???

Maybe you just didn’t know that Mining Forman is the label for the mining booster?

It was never their intention for this ship to replace the Exhumers.

Which I never said.
Stop arguing against the voices in your head you keep imagining.

What I said is that it was intended to be a competent mining vessel.
And that -50% yield makes it not a competent mining vessel.

Given Exhumers fitted for yield out-mine an Orca it also hasn’t replaced Exhumers.

I am bringing combat drones, But since you can only have 5 drones out at a time that is 1 or more mining drones you have to pull back and you lose the mining cycles. My goal is to keep the mining drones at their task as long as possible.
