Orcas should never have been turned into mining vessels

Ore doesn’t generate isk, when ore is mined you have a product that has an isk value. So no isk enters the game.

NPC mission rewards and killing NPC rats add isk directly into the game as NPC’s generate new isk.

Edit: As for the title of this thread, I agree Orcas shouldn’t mine and should be mining support and storage only.

But where did you see me saying that mining generated ISK? I looked at my post and didn’t find anything that you could have read that way.

There you go, the part in bold type.

Ore doesn’t generate isk directly or indirectly. It’s simply a product that has a value. Which, as we know fluctuates depending on supply and demand.

Except the post you quoted was my reply to this post here:

So I’m a mite confused as to what he was getting at here.

Possibly he did not mean to reply to you in particular, but hit that button by mistake since both are near the bottom.

The rest is just two valid points of view clashing. If you look at the game from an all encompassing perspective, mining does not generate isk. If you look at it from a miner’s perspective, it does generate isk for the miner when he or she sells ore.

Almost everyone I know of uses the term ‘make money’ to mean ‘gain personal wealth’ rather than to say they have a printing press in their basement to make dollar bills with or some such, but none the less the distinction has been important for more than one discussion on economics, or important for debunking a crackpot theory on occasion. I would just clarify which meaning I was using in my text when someone misunderstands and try not to get hung up on a tangent.

From what I can see of it, I don’t think that post was aimed at you it seems to be quoting himself for effect as a general statement.

Heh… In this case i agree that something went wrong. Because if Orca can mine solo and it yields good results then it’s wrong balance for Mining Foreman.

I suggest doing the maths on how it stacks up vs a max boost barge or exhumer. You might be surprised.

Good point. Anyone got some numbers we could put into a graph?

Man, your policing of who should not talk to whom is getting a bit obnoxious. Maybe tone it a bit down OK?

I have been pointing that out a number of times in different threads, and unless you park next to a very large roid you get really hammered by the travel time of both the Orca and the mining drones too, which people tend to ignore when they focus on the basic yield figures. Basic detail that escapes certain angry HTFU trolls.

I almost have two sets of max skilled Orca and exhumer characters, and to put it in context when I mine in belts, my max tank skiff beats the Orca in terms of yield, by about 20%, but this is subjective real world use rather than paper figures which certain people will sprout as if it is what you will get.

The OP also fails to understand that this enables a player with two characters to Orca / Hulk mine in a very effective way that adds to the value of training and developing to get better and more efficient, which is what this game is all about.

I think the solution is this: If 20 orcas mine in the same belt, their combined mass creates a wormhole and turns that system into J space. The Orcas are then pulverized and the pilots are, of course, bio massed. Hopefully the new wormhole sucks up the stupid triglavians so we never hear from them again.

I’m not the one who needs to tone it down, you are.
I’m not the one who keeps enabling cancer out of anger, you are.

I’m definitely not going to sit there watching you getting banned yet again because the cancer got a hold of you again. I’m not policing anything, because for that I would need to be able to influence your posting privileges, which I can’t. I’m also not flagging your posts, because I wouldn’t do such a thing.

I’m trying to reason with you, nothing more nothing less.

Okay? You’re not doing yourself or anyone else a favour. You lost distance, which I understand, so I’m telling you to get some again. I’m not your enemy, okay?

My vanilla Orca gets close to 500k EHP. With some bling you can get it up to 1.5m EHP.

Yes, you can.

And with those modules, a good target if there are sufficient people.
I think I will stay with my cheaper, practical fit.

Hey, I’m still waiting for the location of these Orcas.

If I happen to see them, I’ll let you know.
After bumping them, of course.
