PC freezing

Already done:

  1. all driver versions from middle of past year
  2. bios update
  3. debug Nvidia mode ( stock clock of GPU)
  4. compability mode
  5. sfx, dism
  6. virtual memory from turnoff to 50gb
  7. stock ddr5 clock
  8. lower GPU and CPU power limit
  9. memtestx86 , superposition and furmark + Aida for tests
  10. reinstall eve
  11. different internet connection (thx to my neighbor for WiFi)
  12. clean eve launch, turn off all possible soft that you can off without system stability problems.
  13. change virtual memory position and eve position on another ssd

All don’t help.
Give support tons of payload and screenshots and videos.
On this moment one of our mates fix it only with reinstall win 24h2 to 23h2 .
I don’t see any other ways to fix it on 24h2.
CCP still don’t inform us about case with 24h2 and this bug.
But reinstall system only for “play the game” Look crazy a bit..

What else.. I wanna say high Respect to @GM_Chaos he really do all he can for resolve this problem. And final decision is write bug report to coders. (You need to do same guys, or CCP don’t resolve problem).

Bug ticket is created, we waiting. We have this on 3 different PC (2, lulz, bcz one is on 23h2 already)
I hope @ccp inform us soon.

Cool you did a lot! Nice
I got a somewhat temporary solution I think. You can limit the cpu and ram usage of programms with “Process Lasso”.
I can see, that 2 clients out of 5 wants to use at least 20% cpu power all the time. At some point the pc just stops.
If I dont limit the ram to max of 3500Mb and if I dont limit the cpu usage of max 25% per client my pc will freeze at some point. I also limited the clients to 4 cores max.
That’s all I found out. Maybe it can help you play again but it doesnt solve the problem.
Im trying to understand how to get good data if the process lasso has to limit the clients. Eventually that can help the support.

sadly it’s dont resolve problem at all. if you play in 4 box.
im still can play.. but tyred to forcereboot few times per day.
you cant get any data bcs freeze looks like “instant” . so no errors anywhere… include crush report of eve client. just empty.
need some realtime log writer with autosave.. but idk anything like it.

in total from my “stupid and totally not professional in it” eyes - problems look like instant memory crush or smth like it. Bcs same problems have Battlefield 4 when it’s have problem with memory leak on start.
Anyway it’s problem from EVE client code or EVE client compability with 24h2 in some strange case.

I finde some fix , but it’s not perfect and fix only hell freeze.
WinMemoryCleaner from github or any other RAM cleaner. All you need it’s:

  1. dont close eve box’es like CCcleaner
  2. clean RAM fast
  3. have options to clean it “by % of use” or “per time” .

Set clean on 80% or near (depend on how many clients you launch and how many memory you have). Or every 30m/1h .

it’s help for dont get force reboot situations , but still blackscreen effect we have sometime.

@Roman_Ensi or any other gamers here - can you advise me what errors you are getting in your windows event logs when you experience black screens?

Unfortunately if it’s freezing your PC completely, like it sometimes happens to me also, you will not be able to see anything.

I just had my graphics driver crash and every time it happens I find in my windows event logs something like this:

The description for Event ID 153 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

\Device\00000090
Error occurred on GPUID: 100

The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table

Every time the game updates/patches, it’s basically unplayable for 5-10m on the first login, constantly freezing for 30s-50s at a time as it hammers the disk. DX11, DX12, max settings, min settings makes absolutely no difference. It’s infuriating. Not even multiboxing, just a single account/client.

The game’s installed on an m.2 NVME, I’ve got 64gb of ram, a 5800x3d processor and a 6800xt gpu. Every other much newer game I throw at the system works flawlessly at high/maxed settings. Win10 enterprise.

totally nothing . only “long power button hold” . bcs i reboot with it
btw. last 10~ days - very rarely get blackscreens and freezing. (one time freeze , few times blackscreens) . so.. patches help .

I am having the same problems, but not a PC freezing issue—just random game freezes and FPS drops. When undocking, jumping through gates, docking, or jumping to sites, the game constantly experiences FPS drops and freezes. I recently returned to the game, and last month it was strange; it felt unnatural. It was never like this before.

I monitor my FPS using MSI Afterburner, and I’ve noticed that the game has low GPU usage, even though the FPS is not capped. I used to easily get over 100+ FPS on max settings with my RTX 4090, but now there are times when I can’t even get over 40 FPS. At times, the FPS drops to around 40 and then randomly jumps back to 70–80 FPS, even when I’m idle or not actively doing anything in the game. What’s even more frustrating is that every other game I play, even those that are more graphically demanding than EVE Online, works perfectly fine without any issues.

I’m having the same issue. Only occurs when I’m multiboxing, so far. Sometimes pressing the power button resolves the freeze-up because it kills Eve as it tries to shut down the computer.

Same issue here. PC just completely freezes up after a longer time in game. Regardless of number of accounts or graphic settings. @CCP fix this please. It’s impossible to join long fleets or bring caps without feeling super paranoid about this issue.

Do you guys pay attention to if there are T3Cs near when it happens?

I haven’t really bothered playing fora while now due to errors, but last I still had lag issues dealing with my Loki. Which originally was blamed on an error in the LoD model handling of all T3Cs.

I’ve been having this issue with multiboxing 5 accounts for a while now. It always happens between 0 minutes and 2 hours for me. I’ve made 3 changes, and haven’t had any issues for the last 2 days after playing for 5+ hours per day.

Hardware:
AMD RYZEN 7 9800X3D
ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING WIFI
ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX® 4090 OC Edition
Windows 11 24H2

Symptoms:
Everything freezes. No faults, no BSOD. Occasionally will recover by itself in 5 to 10 minutes, but I usually give up after 15 minutes and hard reset.

Testing:
Shaders to low solves the problem, but game looks like Roblox.

No problems running Memtest86, Cinebench cpu or gpu, or any other games.

Newest Nvidia drivers through Nvidia app doesn't help.

What I did: (Not sure which corrected my issue)

Windows Update July-11-25

2025-07 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5062553)
[Graphics] Fixed: This issue occurs only if the June 2025 non-security update (KB5060829) is installed. Game content might become out of sync with the cursor position after using ALT+Tab to switch away and back from certain games running in full screen exclusive mode, when the game resolution doesn't match the desktop resolution.
2025-07 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 24H2 for x64 (KB5056579)

Set Eve to Compatibility Mode For Windows 8. This is a long shot. I highly doubt that it did anything, but being thorough.

I take it back. It was great yesterday, and then froze up today after 3 hours.

My game client starts chugging whenever I warp into anything that has structures in it. This is on a PC that is a couple of years old, but has run EVE fine every single one of those years. Not gonna bother posting specs, but it runs pretty much anything at high/extreme settings. Why am I having performance like I’m playing star citizen on a hard drive?

This game might run better on Windows 10. I don’t know. I’ve never tried 11.

Or, I found this:
Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. DirectX Settings:
Try switching from DirectX 12 to DirectX 11 in the EVE Online settings.
Some players have found that disabling Auto HDR in Windows settings can also help.

  2. Graphics Drivers:
Ensure your graphics card drivers are up to date.
Consider performing a clean installation of your display drivers.

  3. Game Mode:
Disable Windows 11’s Game Mode, as it has been reported to cause issues for some players.

  4. OneDrive Syncing:
If you are using multiple accounts, try pausing OneDrive syncing or moving the EVE subfolder out of the Documents folder.

  5. Other Potential Issues:
Run sfc /scannow in Powershell to check for corrupted system files.
    Check for malware and viruses.
Ensure you are using a compatible BIOS version.
Consider testing your system’s components for stability.

  6. Event Viewer:
Use the Event Viewer to find specific error messages related to the crashes.

I disabled Windows 11 Game mode and switched to DirectX11. I’ll test this to see if it improves, and if it doesn’t, I’ll try a dual boot with Windows 10.
