Petition to the Throne, Imperial Majesty Catiz I

Lady Llŷr, the secretary’s quote was, “priority order has been drawn up for the full reclaiming of the population of Floseswin IV”.

A full reclaiming.

The original categorization was absolutely a ‘labour acquisition expedition’. Lady Liliana has the right of it.

Even if we allow for Floseswin IV, that is still only one planet out of how many? No other planet was mentioned for Reclaiming, just the ‘labor acquisition expeditions’.

And why do they do them? To get slaves. What is their primary goal with enslaving other races? Reclaimation. We allow them to do one planet, they’ll do it to the system. ECT.

Labor acquisition is an appropriate term. Slaves are a labor force. Slaves are held as punishment for perceived ancestral sins, and as part of that punishment they are made to serve the Holder class as a labor force. Conversion and Reclamation are part of that process, but their primary purpose, under traditional Amarr policy and Scripture, is to serve.

Not that I’m in agreement with the idea of generational slavery these days, or with this disastrous escalation of the war, but the term ‘labor acquisition force’ does not break with any standing Imperial tradition nor does it imply the labor-so-acquired will not be instructed in the faith in the course of their labor.

I’m fairly sure Lady Liliana objects most to thinking of them as a labor force first. Our command is to cultivate the spirit of man.

And in traditional Amarrian practice that cultivation requires punishing the sin of slaves through conscripted labor. Reclaiming of the spirit emerges through the enduring of hardships and the providing of service.

My point is, considering of slaves as a labor force first is standard practice. By tradition, their primary purpose is to serve at the pleasure of the Holders to work off their sin – being converted is a hopeful result but not the primary goal in most cases. This is why slaves are almost never emancipated simply for converting. Most slaves go their whole lives already faithful, and often even more faithful than their masters.

If you’re not okay with that viewpoint, which you shouldn’t be… well, you know what I’d say.

I don’t know if that’s how you meant it but that sounded rather sarcastic…

It might, Ms. des Larmes, but if you look above you’ll find her name at #36.

I was merely pointing out that it saved whoever the Emperor Family punishes with the task of reading the IGS the burden of wading through the arguments of the great prophet.

Haven’t you heard, Jen? We’re all great prophets here.

(And this is sarcasm.)

I may only be a humble border-Khanid of moderate means, but I do find myself wandering at what point gracious concern switches over to arrogant doubting. Petitioning the Empress herself to countermand the decree of an Heir seems to me to be entirely beyond the mandate of the Capsuleer.

In light of the limited information to date on the whether the Pax e Kilizhi Do is actually in conflict with the Pax Amarria. we have respectfully and humbly sought guidance following the only channel expressly available to us through the Capsuleer Emissary to ensure that this type of action - generally speaking, regardless of who orders it - is in accord with the Empress’s Will and that she and the Privy Council have had a chance to examine all the consequences, particularly inasmuch we as loyalist capsuleers may be called to assist (clearly those in the 24th IC have already been so called) and, as follows, also called to account if we do. Such Petition was not made lightly. nor was it made with any intent to be arrogantly repetitive or presumptuous in the use of the mechanism.

Better than the original wording, at least.
