Photon UI - TQ Feedback Thread

The UI looks nice! But to implement it, I would have to resize my window setup. I like how the “fatness” of each window makes it look cleaner and more modern, but the non-functional, non-essential parts of the window push the useful info out of bounds.

For example with the Proton UI and current window setup, I cannot see the list of fleets in the fleet window, only the buttons and sorting options.

I also don’t like the mouse-wheel scroll rate. It seems like it scrolls three lines at a time instead of the current one line at a time.

Liking it alot, its extremely fast, clean and fewer ui glitches.

windows are easier to differentiate now when there are a lot open

normally I despise transparency form the amount of indecipherable noise the behind image produces, but this looks pretty nice so far

My issues:

the accents on windows are a little bright, they could be turned down a little bit

The station undock button could be made a little bigger or made to stand out a bit more somehow

custom inventory filter labels are jumbled up text like CSS gone bad

some of the font sizes are inconsistent throughout windows which is a little distracting

With the transparency turned down low, the fonts look good when a window has nothing behind it, but when another window is behind a window, the fonts become blurry

In the market, the icons for the items are generally much clearer, but anything with a lot of white in it like ozone, oxygen and skillbooks are extremely bright

Matari theme is a little too bright in color tone, doesn’t really look minmatar to me

I dont know if I am tired or the dscan and probe scan seem really clunky but don’t know why

“Ask Price” and “Qantity” not showing up correctly in sell window.

Not bad idea, but needs lot of adjustments. I am definitely switching back to original.

  • Standing tags in chat windows are too big
  • Slide bar in chat windows is too thick
  • Frame of chat window is too thick
  • Undock button has same size as other buttons and not standing out from other buttons
  • Chat can not be closed, you can click on x and nothing will happen
    chat can not be closed
  • Button in smaller windows are too big
    huge buttons
  • Header of windows is too big, it is taking too much space
  • To have more color options would be nice

Personally, I like the interface its a fresh look. Also I like how the buttons are bigger, I was literally looking for a way to make them larger when I found the new UI.

More small icons would make it more sensible and easier to understand.
We have only show info and offline icons.

I don’t want to express my opinion to how it looks as I am not the creator of the game.

So, I will let you know of a technical thing i noticed.

Seems in a few windows the Names of the tabs are cutoff or almost cutoff.

Love the look and feel of the new layout. I only have one thing that I myself didn’t care for. I minimize the screens in space so when I do so it places a big black bar across the top of the screen. I like the minimal area obscured when I do this so if we could make that bar smaller or more transparent that would be great.

Additionally when entering a station I get this animation where it says “activating clone” as if I am jumping clones from one to another. I would like to see an option to either disable that or reduce the time to simply enter a station.

Enjoying the layout with the (repeated) exception of the wasted space of every new UI window - excess white space that is unnecessarily around every font/tab/anything that is written. Being on a laptop = limited space, which means scaling has to be spot on, and without wasted space.

Also, please allow for a way to adjust the brightness of the highlighted tab - the underline that shows whatever tab/window that I currently have open is distractingly bright, unless I pick a color scheme that I don’t really enjoy.

Not having proper borders to windows/buttons/tabs within open windows was something I found annoying and wish I could give feedback on - like, where does my Skill Catalog/Queue window end? Please do not implement this black-void border (or lack of one) to everything.

for some reason i can not get the transparency to work, its all solid black no matter how i change the settings…any advice would be great… …here is what i see

Can run medium on a 1050TI for 1 account (even high), but 2 accounts, 1 screen keeps dropping to low fps if either is set to medium, so I set both to low to maintain 50+ fps

Thats what I see if I set my graphics to low shader…

CCPlease make chat channels blink again

Yea, in general, the feeling from Proton UI is nice, looks fresh and all that. But I’m afraid that even my 32" screen won’t help me with this gigantism :frowning:

You should try Gnome Shell 42 on it, that will help you appreciate PhotonUI.

I feel that the new UI is a cheap and extremely hard to look at. this look like it was design by a 12yr old in the early 2000 with first gen PlayStation graphic… yuk. will not be using it. everything about it seem cheap and cheesy. highlight chat bars like we need that in eve. The bright 2d standing symbols in the chat windows look like something out of the old Atari days. It honestly look like they just stole the UI from their phone based game. Ever window you are activity using or looking at light up like some damn Christmas tree. its distracting and hard to look at. not impressed. but then again eve dev are lackluster at best these days, so I don’t expect much from them.

I have a lot of complaints about the new UI, including the brightness of the window highlights but I do think this is a feature we need. Anyone who uses hotkeys in fleets (PVP or PVE), will know the pain of hotkeys not going through because the last thing they clicked was a window and not in space. These highlights will help to remind players where their focus is. But please please CCP tone them down a bit, they’re literally blinding me at the moment (I’m currently photosensitive).

Any idea how to access the new UI? It doesn’t show anything on my settings. I’m with the latest update of the client… Help?

this is my menu right now … as you can see it is missing…

Love the UI art but the font and UI size is too big compared to original UI. 90% UI size is the smallest the display options allow which is still far too big. Chat window doesnt show many many channels and local doesnt show as many pilots in space in the same window size.
