I kinda like the new design but there are a couple of annoyances:
The “noise” in the background of the windows becomes very tiresome after not a lot of time. I found eye strain to be markedly increased and had to switch back to the old UI.
The glowing/highlighted windows are kinda cool but remind me of Cyberpunk 2077 a bit.
The scanner probe icons are tiny and hard to see/use as well as being quite bright.
When panning the camera around some of the UI gets lost in bright clouds/constellations etc.
The Window tops/headers are HUUUUGE and seem a little odd.
I might have to wait and see if the background noise/static is removed before trying it again.
UI looks good, still too much wasted space with headers and sides of window. Personally the scroll bar should be the right side of window.
New UI Enable and disable light back ground does not do anything on TQ, only works with blur on. After I switched back to the old UI I can not disable or enable light background on chat windows.
Submitted a report.
Suggestion: In invetory Items with same icon such as implants, boosters, cap charges could they be the level or number.
You can see a kind of grid of white dots on windows, faintly, but they are there and they are distracting.
The background of windows seems to have a little “noise”, which for me is a complete exclusion criterion, because it just seems restless and thus has a negative effect on the motivation to play the game. Who wants to spend their free time with something that stresses them out?
If you switch off the Photon UI again, there are display problems with the “old” UI. For me, this particularly affects the buttons “View Outside”, “Take Control” and “Undock” on stations, which are only displayed in a poorly readable colour (all the same). However, a “reset” to the old settings takes place after using the buttons.
The Neocom menu cannot be made smaller in the new UI either.
The buttons in various windows (e.g. in PI or in the “Give Money” window) are way too big.
The “Board my Corvette” button is too large and appears to be emphasised by a set-off position. If you want to keep it the same size, I suggest swapping the position with the Undock button.
In the D-scan, the range is set to 14.3 AU and the first digit, 1, is visible. You have to click in the field first to make all the digits visible.
In the inventory, fullerites are inconveniently displayed with a line break. Thus, the last digit or, in the case of C320 and C540, the last two digits are always in the next line. Using Fullerite-C28 as an example, it looks something like this:
Fullerite-C2
8
Here are a few more comments from some people in my corporation:
It looks like EVE Echos (that’s a criticism point because you don’t want an “app” feeling on PC).
The font is way too big and the windows and font are preferred smaller.
It is perceived as too dark, even in light mode.
The modern, cold design is seen by some as inappropriate for EVE and unpleasant. Others found it not bad, but (of course) taking some getting used to. Here are some tips if you want to bring the new UI live: Include an option to keep using the old one. I suspect this would also be requested by many in the EVE community (as previous experiences with UI changes have shown).
Too much wasted space. Please make the bookmarks window more compact. The bookmarks widow is open all the time for a lot of people and it needs to be neatly pushed to a corner somewhere - there is too much wasted space either side of the text. Also, the list of filters in the item hangar is messed up. Some lines are overlapping and some letters different sizes
channel headlines needs to be smaller
LP shop Buy button nor working
edit Bookmark not working
chat channel blinking not working
PI worktime addjustment not working
Could I request from you a pair of screenshots of this in the Classic UI, and in Photon to compare, please? It is really beneficial for us to have a visual example so we can identify the correct solution.
If there is an unread message in the chat it doesn’t blink when the chat is open(it used to blink in the old UI notifying that there is an unread message) despite the fact that blink is turned on in the settings
There is light or any lighter background despite the fact that light mode is enabled, the issue of this is that screen feels suffocating instead of watching space I see an UI filling 90% of my screen
When the fleet window is resized to a smaller size in the history tab the filters option is overlapping with the clear history button
If i have too many chat tabs to be shown on a scaled window, i can spam click on the ones farthest to the right to keep cycling over to the far right ones that werent displayed . once i do that if i click the one farthest to the left it just stays there and doesnt scoot the tabs over so i can see the first one
New UI looks nice, but it is less practical. There is less room for useful stuff on screen.
There’s too much wasted space. There’s a lot of empty space around the edges of windows and titles are large and take up more space. I know what my UI layout is like, so I don’t need a big fat title on each window.
Looking good for the most part. The attached screenshot highlights an apparent vertical column issue with the “My Filters” pane of the inventory window.
