Planetary Industry Templates

Thanks for the attention to the Pi.

Might have been suggested already; but when applying a template the option to remove previously installed layout as a check mark would be nice.

This PI update is similar to the Chinese EVE server update on September 26, 2023, but it lacks the function of automatically deploying collectors to resource-rich areas.
If possible, please add the function of automatically deploying collectors to resource-rich areas. This will reduce more operations.

Please make double clicking an existing route in the Routes and Products tabs always create a new route.

The Routes tab of the launchpad is the only building where double clicking something opens the info window instead of creating a new route. Since the launchpad is often the central aggregator of inputs/ outputs, this is where most outgoing routes are made.

So far, this is VERY NICE! It will really take the teeth out of the tiger to setup PI.

Feature request
Provide a method to share the template in game with other players. ie a drag and drop link.
Automatically sharing templates between alt and main characters is a stroke of genius. THANKS!

Looking forward to the addition of the extraction restart button.

I tried it on my alt character. Got an error message when I tried to apply it. Turned it off, now the planet will not restart and I receive the same error message, telling me nothing. So, one planet unable to kick in and I will not be trying again.
There is no explanation as to what ā€˜ā€˜template’’ is being saved and I haven’t got time to mess about with this.
More clarification as to what you are trying to implement would help.

Right on the money or we should be able to select decommission then drag a box and delete everything except the command center.

Feedback: I have a couple patterns that I use on multiple types of planets, so for copy-pasting templates it would be nice [for me] if the template just saves the arrangement of buildings and links without the routes and materials

  • Additional Feature Requests
    • Ability to move extractors with all their heads and link active, the same way as heads are moved, but with the limiting factor being the total resources (cpu/powergrid) that the link consumes
    • Locking extractor heads relative position so that by moving one all the paired heads are moved together OR implementing heads configuration patterns
    • Making it possible to create an extractor and then configure it, all in the same ā€œsimulationā€. It is currently mandatory to submit all edits before performing any operation on a newly created extractor
    • Fix the hideous bug that sometimes prevent submitting changes, especially when you have done a lot of changes…

Great job on this first step. Finally is fair to say.

Some next additions should be:

  • Restart All Extractors on the Planetary window ( somewhere next to ā€œViewā€ and View Planet" / ā€œWarp to Locationā€ which saves us tons of scenery change time and resources as well as time.
  • Modification on resources Outputs of Factories (that way we can modify a template after we duplicate it for different resources used on different planet types with the exact same setup)
  • A ā€œLaunch Resourcesā€ button on the PIU window when a planet is selected which will open the Launchpad window directly so you can transfer resources without opening each planet ( visible only when undocked maybe and only if resources are read on the Launchpad(s)

I am sure more players will come up with further additions as the time passes but this should be a great 2nd wave of improvements with this. Amazing first step so far though!

Thank you for this update! I just tried it out. However, for me and my PI play style, it is currently irrelevant. But I’d still like to outline my play style and ask for features based on it, so here goes:

I use PI as a mostly passive ISK generator, some in high sec, some low. I have set up all 18 planets on my account to produce T1 mats, which I gather and sell once a week. Each planet consists of one command center, one storage, one launch pad, and as many basic factories as I can comfortably fit to consume one full extractor node. These components basically never change, which I gather the templates would help with.

Every day, for every planet, I go into PI, delete the extraction node, scan for the resource I am processing there, build another extraction node close to the newest one big white hotspot (often halfway around the planet), link it to the storage, submit (otherwise I can’t place heads!), then enter the node. I select the same resource to extract as before (hopefully remembering it, as the scan is deselected), carefully choose the same duration as always, manually enable all heads, and individually dragging them into one of a handful of clusters. I like to arrange 10 heads in a lozenge in triangle shape, 9 heads in a diamond, 8 in a teardrop etc. Very rarely do I not clump up my heads in one of these patterns. Then I route the mats to the storage, and continue to the next planet.

Feature requests

  • Allow me to place heads on a planned node without needing to submit/commit
  • Allow me to activate all heads (that I have power for) at once, not one by one
  • Allow me to choose the same duration quicker; either remember my last choice, or save it to a dropdown, anything.
  • If I configure a fresh node while I have a scan open, default to harvesting that material, or at least don’t hide the scan
  • Allow me to save head patterns as templates
  • Streamline the routing? I have no concrete suggestions here, but it is time consuming and error prone.

I am sure I’m ā€œholding it wrongā€ somehow, but hopefully that, too, helps as PI feedback.

Update: as luck would have it, I just realized I mined basic metals instead of heavy on a planet by mistake last time. I would like to jettison / trash it, but I can’t - maybe another feature resuest?

I don’t do PI anymore, mainly because it was very tedious, but I think this is a very important QoL feature.
One that people will not even imagine not having later. Like being able to log off to change toon instead of having to restart the client :slight_smile:

I guess i am missing something here, when we are saving the templates what are we actually saving, the ā€œbuildingā€ layout or the extractor head layout or both.

Assuming both, once ive saved a template how to i then copy to another planet.

basically what i want to do is save a few templates, one of the building layouts but several of the extractor layout and then implement that look over all the planets

so for example, the below, save once to copy paste on all planets, is that possible? arte htere any instructions on how to actually use

Please, add the ability to group extractors so that you can move extractors as a group

Can we add the option to create routes to multiple locations at the same time without submitting each route individually?

Example: if I want to route P0 material to 5 separate Basic Industries, can I (CTRL + Click) to add a route to each Basic Industry and submit at the end?

3k for Basic 1, 3k for Basic 2, 3k for Basic 3, submit.

(If it already exists, please let me know)
