word!
wtf… first they removed booster smuggling,… and now they remove bounty hunting
wtf is wrong with you ccp? please bring it all back!!! (and fix it lol)
They are too busy milking noobs with “content” like expert systems to have time to fix the bounty system.
@CCP_Dopamine - any update?
WHERE ARE THE BOUNTIES
They’re also removing margin trading in an effort to prevent short-selling (mind you, the two things are not at all connected).
CCP’s done a great job lately of making sure to kill as many play styles as they can.
they are killing all diversity. all things which makes eve great.
Again - there seems to be no update to this - how many months now ccp - seems embarrassing per se. I guess creating new skins and continuing to water down the game while trying to milk the existing community is more important than endeavouring to update a thread. Is there an update @CCP_Dopamine or are you incapable of such update
Honestly, do you like doing this or is it an inner urge? A necessary effort to make EVE better, and someone has to do the job, so you fight for a better world this way?
Calm down, Don Quixote, we start to feel sorry for you.
why dafuq is this flagd?
Ranting. Basically
I think it is reasonable to ask whether the player bounty system will be restored. Those of us who are bounty hunters, we are obviously wondering when we will be allowed to resume hunting people for the bounties.
I miss bounties, they were kinda cool and made people feel wanted.
What I would like to see when they return is for them to be useful. I would like them to be sort of a little guys wardec.
As it is right now there’s no real way to get revenge and that sucks, there’s no real way to send someone like @Aiko_Danuja after that monster who blew you up on your third day in Eve since you can’t do it your self yet.
I would like people to be able to place a bounty on me and then get hunted by people who want to collect. The people who are trying to collect should get the whole thing, if I have a bounty of one million and they kill me and claim it they should get the bounty, not be killed by Concord, and then poof the hell out of my ship. I should be able to do the same thing back, and I should be able to pay a location agent to find them for me.
Obviously this raises the problem of people placing bounties on everyone so maybe it should be limited to some extent, maybe to people who have attacked you, or who are on opposite sides in faction warfare, maybe it should have something to do with standing, I don’t know.
But still, the main thing is that there’s no way to get revenge in (especially highsec) Eve and that sucks. Getting revenge by suicide ganking is not a viable option, bounties are.
Over the course of my time in Eve I have become increasingly irritated by the rules of engagement, they are flat out idiotic, the need to own a structure and then lay to attack someone is beyond preposterous and beyond most people’s means. CCP claims they want more destruction and more PvP but then make it far to complicated and expensive to bother with.
I spent close to five hours explaining highsec PvP to someone who has been playing Eve for far longer than I have simply because I have finaly, after almost two years of trying to figure it out, gotten a grasp on how it works, or really how it doesn’t work for most people. All she wanted to know was what other players would see if she changed her safety settings, I explained that they wouldn’t see it at all unless she did something, and that led to an insane rabbit hole of ever increasing complexity.
Basically it boiled down to “don’t waste your time”.
The problem is that the bounty can just be claimed by the target’s friend in that case, or their own alt, by undocking a corvette and blowing them up. Locking it to a portion of the hull value prevents this kind of abuse - but also makes it largely meaningless to have a bounty.
Yah.
Dammitalltofuckinghell.
That kinda blows, to put it mildly.
However, check out the video that @Dan_4-2-01 Posted, I think that could work, it’s less direct than I would like it to be, but still…
Maybe something as simple as having people register with Concord as official, or even unofficial bounty hunters receive a bounty for a specific person from the person wanting them killed, it could work just like the existing contract system. So for example, you are a bounty hunter, and I want to pay you thirty one million isk to hunt down and kill Chance Ravine, how hard wou… umm…
This is really obvious, I have to be missing something here or this would have been thought of before:
This wouldn’t need concord at all other than to make you able to go kill this guy. The contract should work like a wardec but with individual people making a normal contract instead of that stupid system of needing to own a structure you more than likely don’t need or want.
It’s too simple, there has to be a flaw I’m missing somewhere.
I just can’t see it.
Here’s how I think it could work:
The fifth best commentator on YouTube pisses me off by making me laugh so hard I spill coffee on my lap and into my keyboard (this has happened twice, I’m not pissed though).
I want revenge.
I pick some bounty hunter and make them a contract for thirty one million isk and they accept.
I wait.
They either succeed, in which case the contract is complete and they get paid, or they fail and I have to make another one with someone else.
It would only be exploitable if the contract was public. So make contract killing non-public.
Right?
People already set actual ‘player’ bounties on kills - there’s a huge thread of payouts for killing gankers, for example, that pays out on top of any in-game bounties that might exist on the pilot. That kind of thing has existed for ages. Adding a contract-like in-game feature that has game-monitored criteria (like minimum hull value to qualify for payout, automatically reading killmails to pay when the kill is made, etc) isn’t a bad idea - but it doesn’t really belong in this thread. Feel free to set up a post about it in Player Features and Ideas to flesh it out.
So I can get Concord to ignore my ganks by making a bounty with my alt?
That’s the flaw you are missing.
Where would that get you?
You spend ten million putting a bounty on your alt, your alt gets in a Corvette, you kill your alt, you get the bounty you put on your alt, but minus the contract fee of ten thousand isk?
I suppose gankers could just put cheap contracts on people they wanted to gank, but if it was only worked for people who were involved in killing you it could work.
The main thing is that they weren’t working, and now they are gone completely.
So what if I want to bounty that guy who mined my rocks.
What if I want to bounty that guy who keeps hauling items into a trade hub.
A lot of suicide gankers already run -10, limiting it to people who kill you is A: Already called a kill right, and B: Severely limits the utility of bounties.
