Podding in stations

I know walking in stations is dead and I actually understand why. But here is a potential compromise: podding in stations, you must leave your ship and be in your pod but then you can fly around in stations. Belly up to the bar and look around, maybe fly to a skinr showcase, or a ship showcase showing some of the ships being sold in that station (if any). I figure there is a start already with some of the designs added for Jita, player stations, Air stations, etc. The same nav tools could be used that already exist to navigate, approach, orbit, etc. The open box could open market or skinr depending on what you click on, etc etc.

No this would be a horrible idea im sorry but stations specially NPC stations are designed to be safe for a reason.

There is no expectation for PVP in stations, just being able to navigate what is clearly a huge space and which could be a fun minigame or just a showcase for the interior of stations.

Why would you want to incentivize people not to be undocked?

No incentivize but provide a distraction while in station. Just flavor text/actions for the game.

I could get on board with this if:

It was a liminal space; You’re there to go somewhere else, a jump clone to another station, a ship, another game (i.e. a linked eve-universs game like Dust (i know the names of the new ones but not much detail to know which one is the FPS 3D walkabout shooty one).

Or if the devs really are bored they can make the NES into a walk-in store and you can pick up a model of a cerebral accelerator and take it to a counter and pay by scanning a hand implant.

I dunno, I think they should just start making that sort of thing possible, so you can go down onto planets and shoot things or do dodgy trades in an alley then fly off into space. Maybe there’s horses.
