People who whore on npc kills are their own special category. Gankers do this too though. I passed through a trig system and the trigs on the gate opened up on me, so did a couple of gankers in destroyers on the gate trying to whore on the trig kill mail. That is not a tactic that’s specific to any one group it’s just some cheap thing some players do.
I’ve also seen people set up drag bubbles and mtus on trig gates just hoovering up the loot that the trigs leave behind them. There is plenty of cheap play in null sec too.
The worst though, by far, in my opinion. The botters.
A reward is an interesting idea. Perhaps they should give Concorde LP for hunting suspects and red flashes. Would make high sec more interesting and actually breathe some life into the second most risk adverse part of space. The most risk adverse of course being instances and the third being deep in Frat space where the bots roam.
Everything in the game is CCP. What is your point. Our sub have not likely increased to give them a pay rise. Our subs have more likely been increased to improve share price and CCP are probably labouring under the expectations of their parent company on that part. I doubt the average schlub saw even the most imperceptible pay rise.
Oh good, just what we need, more alts of people who do The Real PvP™ on their mains but for whatever reason do not want to actually engage the forum community with that identity and keep it anonymous.
The only reason to be afraid of that is if your posting quality is of such low, trolly, and incendiary quality to motivate someone to do that. This is why I have no respect for alts: they’re basically wanting to reserve the right to trash this community’s forum with garbage posts of that low quality.
There is no shadow army running locator agents on the forum posters. Contributing opinions – and disagreeing with people – and generally meeting the very low bar of “forum participant” in this community doesn’t paint a target on your back.
If someone really wants to know your main, they’re going to find out anyway, giving yourself a false sense of security. In the meantime you’re just disrespecting the community.
Low quality posts aren’t the only thing that will paint a target in you. Controversial opinions will. I have had someone track me down in the past because of something I posted on Reddit they didn’t like. I’ve also had someone kill a corp mate they thought was me so I don’t just do it out of paranoia for myself.
Not to mention locator agents aren’t the only way to harm someone. If someone disliked my opinion and sat higher than me in the corp hierarchy they could make things difficult for me.
Using an alt isn’t about disrespecting the forum or community like it’s some sacred entity. It’s just good sense in a game where paranoia is a healthy part of play. I was playing the game when BoB got switched off with the click of a button. I’ve lost assets to corporate espionage and I’ve been awoxed by blues and greens in the past.
Yes people could dig into me if they are anted to but that doesn’t change the core eve game play advice of trust no one. That’s as ingrained as “don’t undock what you can’t afford to lose.”
If that’s the case, you have bigger problems anyway. You’re in a corp playing a game with people that don’t respect you.
And none of this is because of some forum posts you made.
Yes, that’s also what the very subtle psyops trolls say on their alts. That opinion is also good sense in a game where paranoia is a healthy part of play. Hence I am trying to drag you into transparency so we can put this behind us.
In a corp of a certain size you are bound to but heads with someone. I’ve left corps in the past because one of the officers was a bigot but you couldn’t speak out about it because the rest of the officers would rather turn a blind eye to it.
That’s the easy situation, you know what’s going on so you can leave. Sometimes people keep their more toxic cards close to their chest and you don’t know until they decide to dispose of you that you aren’t compatible.
I’m glad for you that you have an ideal that we should leave the paranoid era of the game behind. I however am not as trusting in human nature. The feeling I get from the broader community is they want the game to be a hard environment where threats come from both without and within and logging in is consent to pvp not just undocking.
What? I never said that, stop reading into what you think I am saying and read what I am actually saying.
I am paranoid that you’re an alt here of some “big mystery main” with the purpose of psychological warfare, influence, subterfuge, and discussion-control on the forums. And judging by your actual engagement behavior that’s pretty much the truth of it.
That you’re coming up with the same excuse – paranoia – to justify why you’re not going to post with your main, to remove all doubt of what I outline above, doesn’t vindicate your motivations to anyone else but yourself and gullible readers.
If you can’t handle the consequences of your speech on your main, then it doesn’t inspire confidence you can handle the (different) consequences of your speech on an alt.
I think your paranoia is a lot more far fetched than my own. Let’s also be real, just because you say you aren’t an alt doesn’t mean you aren’t an alt. You could just be using this whole alt schtick to discredit opinions contrary to your own on the forum.
Considering my opinions haven’t exactly been ground breaking, there are plenty of people here who feel like ganking is low effort and low risk. Plenty of people that see salt mining as antisocial even toxic behaviour. I’m in the minority but I’m not exactly destabilising the community by sharing those opinions.
I could say that anyone that just assumes you straight up are who you say you are is gullible. One thing I am honest about is that I’m posting on my alt. You have a popular forum account but ultimately only your word that you aren’t some psyops officer of a major alliance trying to control the state of the game by controlling the mood of the community and discredit any dissenters.
You’re right, I am an alt of a main able to afford a massive amount of time 1v1 frig hunting in relatively sparsely populated low sec space as an elaborate “main” cover story on zKill.
And I’m the far-fetched one!
Our opinions may be benign. But like another alt “friend” JJ, “merely benign repetition” by spamming the forums is itself a propaganda tactic.
Yeah but even the people that complain about the same thing you are, are fearlessly doing it on their main. Even someone else in the same coalition as I came through here doing so once upon a time. That’s the difference between you and everyone else.
You’re just weirdly sticking to alts and it sticks out like a sore thumb.
Again only your word on all these other people not using their alts. For all we know everyone on this forum is an alt.
You might have several alts on this forum. The other person commenting on this thread could be you.
You say I stick out like a sore thumb. I would suggest I’m barely noticed. An unpopular opinion making a few comments to pass the time that you are trying to make more of and also discredit at the same time. A strange dichotomy that.
Sure we all might be alts, that’s the baseline attitude. But why folks like you go out of the way to declare it as if it leads to some credence of credibility, now that is strange. It is why my brain immediately thinks “psyops”.
I’m only positing the idea in response to your insistence that you are 100% legitimate and my somehow threatening opinions are undermining the entire community.
An absurdists idea felt like it warranted an absurd response.
I’ve also on this forum suggested that someone should only get into mining with their alt if it captures their imagination because those skill points can only be used for mining but exploration has applications outside of data sites.
All of these dangerous and destabilising opinions I’m putting out. Clearly nefarious psyops. You have me dead to rights.
