It’s definitely noticeable recently that CCP may in theory ban all political discussion but their enforcement is heavily skewed towards certain topics and is obviously driven by more than just a desire to have a politics-free place to chat.
Get your align timer under 2 seconds, and you can never be tackled (without interdiction that is). Always carry a travel fit with you in low-sec.
And when you warp to out-gates in systems that are camped, do it from a different angle to avoid smartbombers.
Rens, well, since nobody goes there due to terrible routes
Soon, we might have to.
:V
We don’t usually allow politic talk to 2 reasons. First, it’s because this is a spaceship game, and we like to keep it that way. The second is that most any time a political thread has been open for more than 5 posts, they start getting disruptive and break rules. This is why we don’t do politics.
Just say No to Politics, kids
Well, two openly admitted reasons and a third open secret: that certain subjects are not permitted to be discussed because they might risk certain business relationships.
First, it’s because this is a spaceship game, and we like to keep it that way.
Unfortunately this is a position most commonly held by privileged people who benefit from the status quo and want to keep it that way even at a cost to others. Politics always comes up, and “we don’t talk about politics” is itself a political position. The only question is whether dissenting voices are permitted, or if the people who agree with you are the only ones permitted to speak.
I’ll refer you to rule 2 and bold the relevant part:
2. Specifically restricted content.
EVE Online holds ESRB Teen and PEGI 12 ratings. All content posted to the EVE Online forums must be teen rated.
In addition to this, the EVE Online forums are not for discussion of real life current affairs, news, politics or religion. Discussion should revolve around EVE Online and its community.
For these reasons, specific content is prohibited on the EVE Online forums. These are:
- Pornography
- Profanity
- Real Money Trading (RMT)
- Discussion of Warnings & Bans
- Discussion of Moderation
- Private communications with CCP
- In-Game Bugs & Exploits
- Real World Religion
*** Real World Politics** - Content that distorts the forum layout
Reasonable people dont talk about politics when there is free stuff to grab from abandoned citadels.
Well yes, everyone knows that this is the rule you (inconsistently) enforce. The question is why you have that rule, who benefits from having it, and whether you should change it.
Please clear the space thats all i’m asking fly safe fellow capsuleers o7.
I’m reasonably sure that’s true; or at least used to be. Way, waaaaaay back, when every gate had a smattering of strategic cans around it.
The only politics that have any place in EVE are the amarr/minmatar caldari/gallente relations. If I want to see or hear about real world politics, I’ll watch the news…
You forgot the Triggerati! We just have to figure out WTF their politics are first, but I’m sure they’ll be well fleshed out and jolly interesting.
Wouldnt you prefer something informative and accurate?
This is pretty much a 100% spot-on observation.
I’ve seen threads in which Orange Man got mocked and nothing happened, and I’ve seen threads in which Honey Munchkin was mocked that were locked 3 minutes later with warnings issued.
I truly wouldn’t mind the “no politics” rule if it was objectively enforced, but the reality is that it only applies to one specific government. And it’s like that everywhere, actually. CCP, Steam, Epic, Blizzard, are all equally guilty of selling out their home countries’ democratic ideals for a few extra bucks in their stock values.
Well, that’s all I’m going to say on this, for now. I don’t want to be noticed and given a perma-ban for “disrupting the harmony” or whatever.
In jita, spam of MD is the same as spam in local, they don’t touch that, doubtful they will touch this, it would be a simple fix of banning the person or group but that is too leftist so it won’t happen.
I know who the orange guy is, but who the hell is Honey Munchkin?
Oh, bother.
Once everyone has the proper approved opinions on any given issue, it’s no longer politics, it’s just light hearted banter.
Any dissent and you simply shut all further conversation down with “Found the …” followed by further steps if necessary.
You can probably find current and further instruction on handling situations like this during your regular perusal of Teen Vogue.
