Sounds like a scam involving block-chaining.
Why would I want to block the chain? Isn’t the mini-app using the chain to do the other mini-apps?
I guess I don’t entirely understand everyone’s hate against people that multibox. I’ve ran several accounts for years in the off and on times that I’ve played. I created those accounts so I COULD effectively mine at first. I don’t PVP or Gank with a multibox fleet and not everyone who runs several accounts at once/multiboxes is doing nefarious things by doing so.
As a freighter pilot, I DO understand how running into a multibox fleet can really ruin your day. Unless by multiboxing, you’re specifically talking about machine-assisted multiboxing where you’re using software to make the other clients do something and not manually controlling the accounts yourself?
When I mine I’m typically running 3 Hulks and an Orca… If I’m in LowSec or NullSec, I’d also need scout(s) and security of some sort. I manually control all the accounts. I guess I just don’t see what’s wrong about this scenario? I’m certainly paying constant attention to my little mining fleet and it requires constant interaction to compress, stack and occasionally move my ore, as well as handle drones and keep an eye out for anyone that might want some killmails.
They really don’t hate multi-botters. They’re probably multi-botting themselves. They simply don’t like the profit they make while mining 10+ accounts. Never mind that there are people multi-botting in WH and NS space making trillions on 40+ accounts. It just takes a bot program, a massive GPU, decent processor, and the patience to set it all up and boom- infinite ISK.
They just hate that others do it while mining while their bot program does it by farming rats or doing Abyssals. Hating mining is simply the “in” thing to do. Whether your shooting lasers at rocks or bullets at NPCs, it’s still mindless brain-dead work and if you’re using a bot program, it’s all AFK. There’s no difference.
When you hear these people talk about having trillions of ISK, they’re either lying or they’re botting a lot of accounts.
This seems false to me.
The richest people I know in game either won the T2 BPO lottery back when that was a thing.
Or, mostly, they’ve managed to profit from the collapse of some kind of player empire, either deliberately building or joining a profitable enterprise and then stealing all the stuff, or accidentally being left in charge of such a thing as other players won, or left to do other things.
I guess there will be at least one EvE trillionaire (or billionaire in old money (10^12)) who made their ISK entirely through running a 40-man mining fleet, but the idea that all rich EvE players are botters is ridiculous bitter paranoia.
I don’t hate multiboxers, I’m one myself (though not on a very grand scale, and not in mining). But I do think it’s a corrosive thing for an MMO, and a major part of why it’s so unappealing for newbies to try out.
When I talked to my WoW guild about it, having two alts (which really is the bare minimum if you’re going to haul stuff) got me labelled a hardcore EVE player, and pointing out that half the players are multiboxing more accounts than me got EVE labelled an insane hardcore game. They probably weren’t ever going to give it a try before that, but they definitely aren’t now.
If WoW required another account to light a cynosural candle for fast travel they would probably think different.
I think that many of the mechanics which make EvE fun are also the mechanics which enable and encourage multiboxing.
Maybe @Syzygium is right and they should do away with all of them, see What would you do if you Couldn’t Gank? - #419 by Syzygium but it wouldn’t be the same game, and I can’t see it happening.
Yeah, hardcore play, or being able to “do it all” pretty much requires a good deal of multiboxing. I don’t necessarily see it as a bad thing, but it is a large commitment in time and can be in finances if there wasn’t a PLEXing system. To me that PLEX system has always allowed me help paper over the cost of keeping some of my accounts running.
That said, I’m not opposed to the minigame idea, it looks neat, but I still think someone ACTIVELY managing and boosting a small amount miners, with people who may or may not do the same, should always be able to out “mine” someone doing it on their own even with a minigame, because the person mboxing has made a commitment to the game too. Just IMHO.
I just have no idea how can it work. There seems to be massive amount of players who buys PLEX on top of monthly sub to sell it for ISK. Which seems really weird to me because I don’t find it hard to farm that ISK. Who are these players and what are they doing ingame, that they need to buy ISKs?
Once the PLEX supply runs dry this whole PLEX economy and multiboxing meta will end.
As someone, who has over time, bought a considerable amount of PLEX, I’m willing to tell you what -I- do with it. A lot of times I’m replacing losses for my small corp/alliance… replacing a freighter that was ganked or extremely expensive implants from a gank that I have no liquid isk from because all my wealth is tied up in hundreds of mods for my corp, and dozens of ships I simply don’t want to part with. I’m also an indy, so I have bought plex to sell for isk in the past to buy BPOs I can cook up. There’s a lot of stuff you can do with ISK from PLEX sales. Oh, and recently I’ve used a good bit of PLEX in the new SKINR system… (just returned after a 2.5 year hiatus, so it’s New To Me… lol)
My AI Friend says this is more concise…
“As someone who’s bought a fair amount of PLEX over the years, I can tell you what I use it for. A lot of the time it’s about liquidity, not total wealth. I might have hundreds of billions in assets, but that doesn’t help if I need to replace a freighter, reimburse a corp loss, buy an expensive BPO opportunity, or react quickly to the market. Selling PLEX lets me convert real money into immediate working capital without liquidating assets I’ve intentionally accumulated over years. I’ve also used it for SKINR since returning. For me, it’s less “buying ISK because I can’t earn it” and more “buying liquidity because I don’t want to dismantle my industrial base.””
WoW should change raiding so that each player had to bring in and control 6 paid accounts to remain competitive.
i do think that a minigame could be interesting
There are literally millions of mobile app games out there. Stop thinking like a 64-byte cartridge.
Adding the minigame, or some other analog, is a creative idea. Supported - high interaction should yield the highest result. I barely care about the effect on multiboxers but that is now baked into the Fenris business model so this is a great compromise to not punish multiboxers while rewarding miners who genuinely want to perfect their craft.
