I can’t help but feel that a lot of vets have simply got bored of the game ( which is why many spend so much time here instead )…and are looking for any excuse to leave. If it’s not one reason it’ll be another. To be honest…if people were really enthralled by a game then a price increase equivalent to less than that of half a pint of beer would not drive them off.
Me…I’ll be staying. Surviving is what Eve is all about.
Pissed at the direction a game I’ve invested $1000s of dollars in is taking, yes.
Multiplied by 5 characters, suddenly its the cost of a sixth character…
And nothing to show for it. Just empty promises and yet another new pilot experience re-vamp.
^That will fail too, because there are a finite quantity of people in the world who
are interested in internet spaceships
have an internet connection that supports the same (oh, btw the ISPs are now charging for data usage in the US)
earn enough money to support playing this game with more than one account (because face it, you cant do ■■■■ with one omega account).
If anyone gets my stuff, it will be my corp before I biomass all my characters.
But some might argue that the exponential multiplication of multiboxed accounts is the problem with Eve. The very fact that people feel they ‘have’ to do this to get anywhere sort of negates the whole idea of Eve as a co-operative venture.
I can see how the whole multibox thing becomes self defeating if you have to have more and more accounts to gain the same effect, and of course CCP make ever more money out of this. But it is then inevitable that a crunch point would arise either via Omega cost or in-game costs and not being able to PLEX accounts.
I’ve argued for entirely different reasons that CCP should make it easier for individuals with one account to do stuff. I think that would not only hold onto existing and new players, but would lead to less multiboxed account requirement too.
I have no idea how it could be better encouraged, but most folks will enjoy Eve more if they can get on coms with bros (and sistahs) and play Eve + hoooman interaction.
Except you really have to have multiple Omegas if you want to live in and hold null sec. Otherwise, you have no one who wants to fly capitals because they dont want to tie up their main account with capital standby (or being the bridger or whatever).
They should deserve to be contacted first by applying your diplomatic abilities like seeking to understand why are they entering an open war zone. Focus on active listening first if they are in a NPC corp as soon that NPC corp could also be the same NPC Corp you had selected to fight for in this Faction Warfare.
This is just my open thoughts after listening to the keynotes yesterday.
You just made me think of something with respect to war decs. First let me smash my hand against the edge of my desk to punish myself for yet another let’s-add-complexity idea.
Perhaps war decs could be declared against a corps/alliance covering a single system/constellation/region. Turf war decs.
It was a reference to “The Matrix”, totally unrelated.
On a side note, we can speculate all we want regarding reasons for rising fees and seamlessly imply that there is some sort of “good or bad practice” but in the end, there is a particular segment of the player base that’s most affected by it.
To me, it’s a question of where the money appears to be invested, in other words, the gaming experience. A thing most cannot tally, as only old pharts can tell such tales.
And that gaming experience has been put on the table in many occasions for too long with an apparent conclusion that favors the new, that paves the road for newcomers more favorably.
IMO, charging more for this “category” is a direct hit to the traditional EVE gamer. On the contrary, elders should get a huge discount based on loyalty. I even think they should get it for nothing without any hustle. They are the influencers. But, hey… that’s just my opinion… it does not mean that if the game goes down, I was right.
I absolutely Aggree with this, I don’t see the Price Increase as a bad thing if they are planning to add New Content in the game (Now some guys will say where is the new content, Well give the developers some time, Afterall they are also humans give them a couple of months and than let’s see)
I agree, isk is hyperinflating… and the plex prices are crazy. Isk is inflating before these rises and the cost of plex rising only adds to the problem and magnifies it.
100% gone started playing in 2007 never paying $19.99 per month for this game. The last time I paid for omega 10/23/2019 9:31:13 PM. I dont see myself ever giving CCP money again. The desperation of this company is just down right pathetic. Once I logged into my account to check the last time I paid they offered to sell me 8,100,000 skill points for $199 WTF? who is running your marketing department? after a nearly 2 year break your going to try to get me spend $200 on game I have no investment in ? CCP should fire the incompetent people working for you in marketing. IF they had a brain after I logged in after a nearly 2 year break. You should have offered me a free month of omega or at least offer me a discount for omega. To try to get me to play again not shell me for $200 at gate you twits. Sorry CCP the look of desperation is not a good one.
Wait wtf since when did they have a 8.1m skill point pack?
Isn’t it obvious an ex EA dude with Pearl Abyss breathing down there neck’s going we spent $425mil and at this rate you will only be profitable after 10 years? Make it happen faster.
If someone can find doctor who can you ask him to find me an alternate universe where PA didn’t buy Eve thanks.
