I can afford the new Omega price.
I want to buy Omega time.
But I will not buy it, on the grounds that I feel like im being ripped off.

That’s the spirit. Companies (in general) can only get away with bad practices if people (the buyers) reward them even if those bad practices exist, the moment the majority of consumers have the willingness not to reward such will be when the companies will reconsider their standpoint, not any moment sooner.

I didn’t say ■■■■ :stuck_out_tongue:

And i’m the oldest cypher here >.>

Raising prices to match increased operational costs isn’t a “bad practice” its just how the world works, the prices should have been going up pretty much every year at this point but they opted not to, but now they have to increase the price, people just need to decide if they think the revised price is something they are willing to pay, if not then thats that, no amount of protest is going to prevent this so you need to decide if you’re happy with the price or not

I deliberately wrote companies in general. The point is if someone thinks a company operates using bad practices they should act not just whine on the internet but still purchase said products from the same company despite the practices in question. I deliberately haven’t even made a statement regarding the price increase. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s a matter of balancing your addictions. Eating, living indoors, wearing clothes, Eve? Hard choices.

You seem confused by supply and demand. If EvE were a hot, growing game, they’d have plenty of reason to raise prices.
Based on playing this game off and on for 15 years, I hate to tell you, that’s not the case.
Raising prices without offering anything in return is simply going to precipitate more loss.
Who’s going to pay $20 a month to mine?
Who’s going to pay $20 a month for a year, to be remotely competitive in PvP?
Or alternatively spends hundreds to be competitive, only to find out that understanding how the skills work is almost as important as having them?

Actually it would be the reverse, hot and popular games have no reason to raise prices because their costs are offset by sheer volume of players aslong as their hardware supports it, if you have 500,000 subscribers you don’t need each sub to be as high to cover costs, if you only have 10,000 subscribers you are going to need to raise prices

So, what about all those expansions you got for free over the last 15 years? yeah see people forget how much has been added at no cost, now go play WoW or FFXIV and lets see how much content you have to pay for by comparison on top of the monthly subscriptions

People will pay, the issue is you don’t want to pay that much, which is fine, each player will have to decide if their ROI is high enough to justify the increased costs

So yeah would you have wanted to pay for 15 years worth of expansions in order to stay competitive? because that was the alternative

I’ve tried three different MMO’s since the price increase. So far I’ve not found a replacement like Eve. Might have to bite the bullet on this price increase…

Which three?

Star Trek Online, Planetside 2 and Neverwinter.

Two of them you are basically the hero of the realm. Planetside 2 I think I need to find an ‘outfit’ (corporation) to do better or maybe I gotta pay for a better gun? I dunno lol

Eve’s setting where you just get a rookie ship and you’re free to do absolutely WHATEVER doesn’t seem to have been replicated from what I can tell. Got any recommendations?

No ED?

Isn’t it funny when we go out looking for a game like ‘X’ when you could just play said game?

Perhaps time for a new hobby.

I spend something like $30 a month on Eve average pretty easy. Imagine if I spent that time on streaming services and caught up with everyone else binging shows? I could be ‘cool’ or ‘hip’

So what about that new content, expansion of space, new ships, new possibilities, new playable faction, new areas to explore, new gameplay and new clothes?

Where is all that stuff people pay more for?

Who am I kidding, they couldnt redesign imicus, or catalyst to this day…

after being a loyal customer for 13 years, CCP under its new manager pearl abyss pissed me off enough to quit forever.

I quit 8 month ago, I take a look back at eve news every few months. I haven’t logged in 8+ . I saw the increase to $19.99 and just uninstalled eve from my steam library I’m done. This game is dead to me. Nothing but shitty dishonest moves by ccp since it was bought by pearl Abyss. I can only see you making more in the short term. The amount of accounts your going to lose due to the price hike will far out weigh the short term gain you get while people are still figuring out you jacked the price $5. You might have survived a $1-2 increase but $5 naw this game is gone in 12 months tops.

To spell it out to the stupid or delusional, CCP can no longer afford to run the game with the dwindling player base. So it has elected to milk its dedicated player base further to offset its loses due to bad choices and poor expansions that drove players away in record numbers in the past 24 months.

You havent’ left, you’re still here.

The amount of multi-box accounts

Multi-boxers can no longer afford to run so many accounts

We want more unique players, not more of a player.
