Yeah, proper alts can do it for sure. At least CCP earns something because they have to have omega on both accounts to run multiple clients at the same time. Yes, it still devalue the concept behind the event.
The way i mentioned you can just do it with 1 single omega account also and dont even have to pay CCP anything. Yes, you can only do it a certain point where alpha toons cant fly all the hulls. But still its a significant boost.
It is against EULA to log in an alpha and omega at the same time. So if you’re doing that you are cheating against the very base rules of the game, and I’d like to see CCP turn a blind eye on that one now.
not same time right ? I log off alpha before i log in omega. The alpha toon will log off in space with a timer and ship will remain in space for 15 minutes right ?
For 15 min if you have a relevant timer. Now this is where it gets muddy. We haven’t had a circumstance where this has mattered before or where it’s been under such scrutiny before. Technically, you’re not logged on on your omega and alpha simultaneously, but de facto you are on your alpha and omega characters at the same time. So, everyone’s free to interpret that as they see fit right now.
I think the correct implementation should have been to not have the ship type restriction but award points based on the type of the ship / modules fitted (not actual value) and calibrate it with the award prize value to make it so that people who are actively pvping and getting good kills are rewarded, while a person trying to put their alt in to a bling ship doesnt make any sense because they will be loosing lot of ISK to make the same amount.
Dear @Meridan_Night and @Lena_Aldard you guys are way overthinking this as there is a much easier and even more in line with the rules method to game the system:
The “funfact” is you don’t need your alt to be in the ship for its destruction to trigger the generation of a killmail, which is evidenced by the fact when a structure is destroyed and lots of ships are dropped as a result there can be dozens upon dozens of lossmails generated when those ships are popped.
So it goes like this:
Get suspect flag on your alt by stealing from a jetcan (even from one ejected by your main) or shooting a deployable (in the former case you won’t even incur a logoff timer preventing you from safe logging right away in 30 seconds and disappear from the game thus will not even have both characters on at the same time at all even just technically)
Eject from your ship then sign off (safe log) or close the client
Sign in to your main
Warp to the bookmark where your alt’s ship is at if you haven’t signed off there in the first place
Blow up your alt’s ship (as the ship without a pilot will not emergency warp, it will just stay there)
…
Repeat as you like with any ship and character as you like even newly created Alphas
I guess, but i dont want to park it near some random celestial also, for someone else to come and kill it. and Combat scanning takes maximum 15 - 30 seconds. No biggie.
Why even think of doing it in such an obviously dumb way?
Warp between two random celestials, drop a bookmark while in warp then warp to the bookmark. There you have your safe spot.
Obviously do it in a quiet system so people will have not enough time to scan it down unless they monitor you doing it in the first place which should be kinda obvious if you pay attention what the few people in system are doing.
I know the game mechanics. Then you will have to share bookmark folder for each toon. Regardless we are arguing about just small semantics. Do it the way you want. The core idea remains the same
On r/Eve they say you can earn a Venture kill once in every zone: high, low, null, wh and pochven if I recall correctly. So five points max. per ship type.
I don’t care what method anybody is using to do this. My point was this is not even PVP, it’s gambling for that 81b and this is a hilarious situation. I’m gonna have fun watching people blow all their hulls and ISK on SP for a spot on that gamble leaderboard.
Also, to iterate again – you don’t need to probe your alt down at all under any circumstances (unless you like that kind of stuff). All you need is your alpha alt acquiring a capsuleer timer before they log off and warping to a safe you both have a bookmark for (if you’re doing it on an alpha and if you think that after having technically logged alpha off, it no longer counts as EULA violation. Something I don’t agree with, but that’s beside the point here).
If you have a capsuleer logoff, the alt won’t warp to a safe spot after logoff! It will remain in space where it is!
None of this time stuff applies to an omega account, which most of these participants are probably using, because it will simplify matters and it will be certain in case 2 Omega accounts that you’re not violating EULA.
Yes, this is exactly what the rules said. You also won’t get points for killing the same character, ever, again in the same area. It has to be a new ship and unique character every time per area of space. This was in the rules from the get go, so guys who didn’t understand that don’t have reading comprehension.
This is exactly why it’s gambling. You have to buy and inject SP into your brand new alts for them to be able to fly bigger and more specialized hulls. Prize is 81b (or more if you’re really really ‘‘elite’’). It’s just a question of math. If you got enough liquid ISK you’ll be able to gamble for the main prize on this thing.
I haven’t done the math on that one. I would imagine at some point the cost of ‘participation’ will exceed the cost of the prize. I quoted 81b but that’s if you score on top on 1 local and the overall board. You can technically score on other local boards as well and get even more than 81b, but really, that requires some dedication. Subcap hulls are pretty cheap, the main cost of this gamble should be in the SP, and I don’t know how much that is gonna amount to or if anyone really will go to such lengths even. We’ll see.
