No it isn’t. It removes people’s chance to even have gameplay. Every goddamm open PVP game ever just transforms into a55hole-simulator-deluXe. Because there is no such thing as “sometimes PVP” or “PVP and PVE”. The human nature can’t be cheated.
As soon as there is PVP, the PVE aspect becomes almost irrelevant. PVE-content then is just another tool to be used against another player (pull someone into an NPC-patrol or camp a mission site for example.) And you cannot play a PVE content without moving like you’re on a team deathmatch server.
I backed this game in 2013. I supported the idea and pledged more even when the cries for “scam citizen” where loudest. Yet PVPers have achieved what the doubters and naysayers couldn’t:
I have lost interest.
Does this mean the (EVE) is dying meme becomes part of the ScamCitizen tradition?
I’m pretty bad at checking the Star Citizen Reddit. I missed out on many cool time-limited items (except for my LTI F7A Hornet Mk II Heartseeker), but I saw that post and was going to make a joke about a certain someone, but I saw that they were complaining about having PvP at all. Looks like I’ll have to spend my time in the Foundation Festivel encouraging people to yeet ships.
On a serious note I backed the game because they promised the, “The option for Freelancer style player-run worlds where modding/experimentation/etc. are all encouraged” and I preferred having a solo sandbox. I even paid $10 for an “Engineering Manual for Modders”.
I am newish player and I assure you that those people complaining about PVP. They are not representative of all new players. If anything those karens are just a small vocal minority. Who will at some point get tired of a game that focal point is PVP and go their merry way. Hopefully maybe to something that has some farming and is a ville at the same time.
I know I may not be much on PVP at the moment, but that will change as time goes on. Not everything is static or stays the same. Except for the karens. Those people seem to be caught in a holding pattern..
Ya know….really this is an admission that PvE is way easier than PvP. After all, if PvE was harder then nobody would be moaning about PvP-ers showing up as they’d be easier to fend off than any PvE NPC ships.
Well if he didn’t admit it there is no question PvE is easier. Even fighting an amateur human is more exciting and chaotic than even an advanced NPC. People can be competent making it hard or be incompetent and making it chaotic, and even if easy in the latter case still fun due to how unexpected it is.
PvE can be relaxing though so if someone for the moment is seeking that it is easy to understand.
