Hasn’t been taken away.
Perfect example of a today’s outrage culture where you don’t even need a coherent thought. Just be mad because “grr changes!”.
I’m just surprised by how poorly this seems to be thought out/ explained
If you own a large structure in a low class wormhole you can now do what exactly? Self-destruct seems to be your only option, as you can’t get a core in and you can’t get the structure out - if CCP didn’t intend for them to be there, they shouldn’t have been place-able at all.
This specifically targets new players and small groups in high sec, because small groups will be worth attacking 100% of the time JUST for the core drop now. God forbid you’re a solo player because there’s literally nothing you can do now, aside from move back to an NPC station.
This is completely detached from any type of industry, making it purely something out of the hands of players - which is either an attempt to make an isk sink or again a poorly thought out and missed opportunity for more emergent gameplay (kinda what this game is about)
Seems like they are trying to fix a nullsec problem with a hammer that not only forgets about the other regions of space (namely wormholes and high-sec) but hits them so hard as to make them completely and utterly useless now. Why have structures in the first place if you’re going to make them only accessible to huge groups etc.
Tl:DR Add an option for small groups or solo players, remember that wormholes actually exist, and maybe think harder on the long term ramifications of massive sweeping changes before you drop things with almost no notice!
Are you actually daft? Did you just assume that I am some kinda vet to this game? I just started playing 3 months ago (EVERY DAY) bc I wanted to build a business. THAT HAS BEEN MY MAIN GOAL SINCE I STARTED! SO YES THIS IS SELFISH BECAUSE I WANT MY OWN STRUCTURE TOO! LOL!
That is literally why i weighed in on the post at all!
Do some research before you assume things.
“weaponized inconvenience”
CCP already acknowledged that the WH end of XL structures in lower class wormholes was an oversight on reddit and are going to look into it.
Ah, the low IQ response of “just do some research!”
Stay mad, kid. Don’t be offended when someone calls you out on your bs though.
That is not exactly confidence inspiring. How does CCP just forget about a huge part of their game like that? Do the devs even play the game?
OOPS guys sorry we totally forgot about all of wormhole space! our bad. Lol what a joke.
How does this Quantum Core prevent you from building a buisiness or playing the game how you want to? Your structure with or without the core is susceptible to wardecs anyways. This in no way prevents you from being able to do so.
Now youre just trolling, GJ!
Say something meaningful or delete your account.
But prior to this a structure wasn’t profitable for wardecs either. Now it’s just a loot pinata.
C5 and C6 space where it is more expected for such structures to exsist it still presents the same issue they have living in those areas of logistics. But there has been 1 Keepstar in a wormhole smaller than a C5 that I know of and that had to be built in system.
I think faction variants should have remained exempted. There’s already more than enough motivation to destroy those where possible and the same with defending. They’re also already expensive enough without adding a 4b surcharge atop the existing hefty price tag.
For those who have structures being used properly this is an unreasonable burden. Makes me want to stop playing the game. More changes that benefit the large null sec groups and screw the HS and LS corps.
Awesome update! Love the ante idea, great work CCP
For the most part, shooting any structure with fitting drops, fuel and salvage you can make money off a single structure with the wardec. This isnt even talking about abandoned structures. 600m typically doesnt even cover the cost of 1 ship that I field to kill a structure anyways so it’s not like that that module drop is THAT much of a payday.
I agree with you partially. My concern is: when that small corp, who just started their operations and use citadel as their initial base have to face several war decs at once, then they have no chance to defend that citadel. And that’s what is going to happen now - all citadel bashing corporations (and every other corps with triglavian battleships to be honest) gonna war dec as many small corps as possible and smash their citadels, because after this update it will be worthwhile for them to do so.
So, right now CCP literally gives a clear signal to players who like to demolish sand castles: get ready for the second round of the pinata party! Now, apart from catching the abandoned citadels and destroying them in a quarter of an hour, you’ll have good reason to spend those few hours attacking the fully-powered citadels of small corporations, because as I’ve written before, they have no chance to defend themselves against the invasion of a group of players who specialize in smashing citadels. And the core is worth that time, for sure.
In a nutshell:
- overall using Athanor and Raitaru in high sec is expensive in terms of fuel costs, while their efficiency is significantly reduced and makes their use often on the verge of being unprofitable;
- CCP has reduced the profit from moon goo mining in high sec to such an extent that practically no one uses Athanors for this purpose anymore;
- CCP has introduced an additional state of the citadel (abandoned), which allows the attacker group to destroy such a citadel in 15-20 minutes and took asset safety from it when it is in such a state;
- now CCP introduces quantum core as a guaranteed drop (in a game based largely on RNG in terms of rewards for efforts made? are they serious?) and thus gives a very good reason to declare wars and mercilessly exterminate small corporations citadels both to corporations specializing in destroying other players’ structures and to all other corporations interested in easy enrichment at the expense - let’s not hide - of the weaker ones.
Like, come on. For 100 mln ISK as a war dec payment attacker have a guaranteed drop of a quantum core worth 800 mln ISK from Raitaru?
Let’s be realistic - after two months of such a profitable slaughterhouse of small corporations, only a handful of citadels belonging to large corporations or nullblocks will remain in high sec. Systems will again have only NPC stations in space. When the tethering and free repair from public service citadels will disappear, I am not convinced whether this will be a good change for the inhabitants of high sec or low sec.
For this update to make more sense, the cost of declaring and conducting war should be significantly increased. This way, larger corporations will not throw themselves into destroying the citadels of small corporations like sharks, which will feel the blood in the water and will not lead to havoc in the high sec, which anyway has enough serious problems associated with the Triglavian invasion.
And all this in the name of the CCP idea of increasing the difficulty level for players in this game even more, making it as brutal as possible and not forgiving absolutely no error. Oh yes, without a doubt it’s a great way to encourage beginners and casual players to maintain their interest in the game.
That’s something at least - I didn’t post here to flame or hate, but I feel that CCP needs to be told when it goofs so it can change it!
@Aesir_Valtari I will say, having just found a decent WH exit and realizing that on my route to jita, almost every jump my dscan was full of athanors and raitarus, there just might be a small amount of structure spam.
I’m all for indy corps and stuff, but every 5 capsuleer corp doesn’t need an individual citadel.
The loot pinata that every structure will drop a minimum of 700M is an incentive to drag the smaller groups into wars much more frequently instead of before. Defending against a war dec once or twice a year is expected, defending against constant war decs for 700M loot will be all consuming. So, no, we won’t be able to chill like we used to because minimum 700M loot will bring out all the war decs and then we’ve turned from a chill group to a group that has to constantly defend. There’s always a bigger fish and CCP is getting ready to throw chum all over us.
