Quantum Cores - Updates begin 8 September

Not quite zero risk, since the bashing corp needs a war HQ.

I dont disagree, but essentially made it so to run a profit you need to do out of npc structues, then introducing a mechanic to incentivise big groups to kill small ones shafts those corps.

Citadels were implemented wrong to start with and agree with what you are saying. This alone is a poor fix though as screws small groups. Maybe though alongside this they should buff npc stations to give them purpose so smaller corps dont need to operate using citadels

We’ll see if it’s even still going, come January.

comeon son, a 450m isk structure to a bashing corp 1b after this shitty change, to make unlimited profits on the backs of stupidity in highsec until all the carebears either unanchor or quit. Such risk/

Why are the structure bashers invincible and the industrialists are inevitable losers?

yeah, let the core consume something crazy valuable. I got it, let it consume Plex!..

War meaning any war obviously

Sell the cores in the NES, so the wormhole keepstars can be kept active!

I was thinking they could buff structures to make them more worthwhile.

But let’s see how the players react to this change first.

If you really are so hopeless at defending your structures, you shouldn’t have one.

Take it down and use someone elses.

they are not invulnerable, never said they were. but the average indy dude corp is full of carebears, some may learn to fight, but the vast majority will just feed and die, and likely never even undock and then quit. that may sound grand to you, but less people in space to shoot makes eve a fking boring game. same reason why they changed wardeccing, essentially high school bully beating up elementary students.

Attendance at high school/elementary school is mandatory. You can opt out of Eve.

you are misunderstanding me. I am fine with this analogy, what I am not fine with is the extreme unbalance of this. As it is high sec citadels are largely (and have been) removed, except those that can defend their trash or are not worth shooting. At the moment it’s a calculated risk to operate a structure that you are unable to defend verse much greater numbers, and is an acceptable risk currently. This change nudges the equation to far towards the aggressor.

depends on the bashers. The big hs groups will clear up with very little risk to them.

Small ones have risk if larger ones join as allies but more likely small ones will be anchoring war hqs well out of the way to put off attackers.

Indy corps live where their structures are

This is all fine for null and lowsec, this is an absolute horrible update for high sec citadel deployment. I am actually quite shocked to see that the devs from CCP are releasing this in this form, it seems to me that this is a very poor judgement of their highsec playerbase needs.

the Quantum Cores effectively add 600 to 700 mil to the prices and one bil plus for a decently fitted astrahus was already quite an investment for smaller corps/new players.
The worst however clearly is the guaranteed drop of the 700 mil thing from the lowend structures that are in fact so incredibly easy to kill, everyone who has even the faintest idea of the mechanics of this game is totally aware that this will make ‘mercenary corps’ scout half of new Eden now for citadels belonging to small and/or newbee corps and blow them up with their guaranteed payout of 700 which as we know instantly covers their war bill costs. And any Rifters and or L4 fitted BS that the kids will throw at them will be blown up with it, adding to the demise of these corporations.

Yes, I think you have added a new profession to the game, the highsec citadel ganker! payout (by NPC’s!) guaranteed.

I am all wrong of course, CCP wanted to trigger a mining corp war ; Hulk vs Orca shootout in Sarum Prime with this update, obviously. Well highsec corps don’t do that, and veldspar is a poor choice for ammo.

And here is where am puzzeled by the dev’s who made the decision to implement this, is CCP really deliberately choosing to go this path in EVE highsec?

That’s easy, CCP ignorant (speaking of whomever thought this change was a grand idea) did not like the structure spam in nullsec, and thought hmmm how can we make it painful mostly in logistics (judging by the size of the thing) and then in isk (although minor for any of the big 3 alliances) without ANY consideration of the impact on the rest of the game. for CCP is nullsec nullsec nullsec, and hell with every other part of space.

I was apparently wrong. I thought we would get numbers in Jan/Feb. Now we’ll have to wait for summer when the numbers naturally drop anyway. No one’s going to know the long term affects till next fall at this rate. Add to that we don’t know what else in the age of chaos that CCP is going to toss at us.

Which color of dog poo tossed at the wall is going to stick?

This is the issue though. Why should in hs small groups have to use larger group structures? For the sake of having less structures on dscan? I dont see what issue is being fixed

Last thing the game needs is more isk being filtered into the coffers of older, larger alliances.

I wonder which player made item would be next cause CCP decides that it sell prices are too low.

Mostly just small groups, as larger groups will just roll over the smaller groups and stockpile these for when they want to depoy something.

This is more than just sell prices being too low.
This also is a significant change to anchoring mechanics, which places a hauler at risk when anchoring a structure or leaves the structure vulnerable in hull timer. This makes a significant change to offensive citadels during a war. And puts a gank risk on high sec.
