Quantum Cores - Updates begin 8 September

From the verbiage it seems pretty obvious you will be able to install early, only that it will be “required” by those dates.

That being said, why would you add loot to your pinata earlier than required?

All existing structures will have a new bay available to them, the Core Room. During the seeding phase, you will also have the ability to install the core into any existing structure’s Core Room to be fully prepared for the future.

You can preload the core

Required for existing structures

The final phase for the rollout of Quantum Cores will see some basic services that all structures offer become disabled until a core is installed. Without a core installed, fitting, tethering, and repair services will be disabled. As soon as the core is installed into the structure, these services will become operational again. This phase is expected to go live in the December update.

So the Drill or w/e will still function? @CCP_Dopamine

I like this idea but I am curious as to if the structure is online and anchored, when the core is removed, does it go low power then eventually abandoned? Also I would assume that once the structure is ref’d the core cannot be removed?

I think the aim here is to make it more worthwhile to shoot structures. So structure spam gets reduced by unprotected ones just dying, and people having more reason to go ahead and kill the protected ones.

When this doesn’t work, I’m sure they’ll do something like ‘AND IT GIVES YOU FREE SP WHEN YOU KILL THEM!!!’

This up date won’t reach those either… unless CCP hack’s them with their own cores on the day to MAKE them viable to shoot. . .

They’re all abandoned for a reason. what’s funnier: the Raitaru’s core is more valuable than the other 2 Med-types. While the hull is 2/3 the cost of this new ‘core’.

WTB CCP’s drugs… srsly, i need to see the colours you are seeing!

This is a HORRIBLE change. This basically puts a big target on all small corp structures. Thanks CCP for screwing the little guys.

Yes Quantum Cores will be optional.

You may not have access to fitting, tethering or repairing, but you do have a nice structure in space. A structure that doesn’t have any timers, as far as I can tell. So you may not have it for long.

well to be fair, if you can’t defend what you anchor should you really have it?

No it’s just a small target on small corp structures. The big quantum cores are for big structures.

Ohh so this is saying that the structure will not be able to defend it self with its fitting unless the powercore is installed?

Yep, that’s what I think this means:

If no Quantum Core is installed, the structure will remain in the onlining vulnerable stage where the hull HP layer is exposed and the structure is vulnerable to destruction.

This is just a huge one time ISK sink. Thanks CCP. :unamused:

Yeah, but the thing I am more curious, what is to stop the power core from being removed after it finishes its anchoring cycle? Does it just lose tether and the ability to utilize it’s fit? The service modules are part of the fit so does this put it into a low power/abandoned state? Can the functions of the service modules be utilized at all if the powercore is removed?

That’s a bull**** statement. Half of the corps in the game can’t defend their structures from the bulk of the bigger groups, which will now be roaming space to find structures anchored by corps with low member counts. This either forces those independent groups to join bigger alliances or just deal with losing their s**t. While I realize, they could just be hit now as is, they generally aren’t because there is little value for the effort involved. Its taking away choice and enormously increasing risk for those smaller groups that enjoy an independent play style.

Something something don’t fly what you cant afford to lose seems relevant.

These pointless changes are why I stopped playing. Making it harder for smaller corps and changing nothing for bigger corps

Why is the fortizar’s Core more expensive than the Azbel’s but the Raitaru’s is more expensive than the Astra?

This change absolutely sucks. Like seriously, why do corps and alliances need to be kicked in the teeth this year once again? I hope yhe dwindling player base realizes how shotty this change is and decides to say screw this game finally.

I could afford it before it was made 3x expensive and only given 2 months to somehow come up with an additional 100+ billion ISK on top of existing sts. operating costs. Like this isn’t a case of fly what you can afford to lose. This is a case of CCP trying to hurt the big guys only to kick the little guys in the teeth.
