Its not about being able to afford to lose it. Its about taking away the choice of a play style. I can afford to replace my structures, but we couldn’t defend them against a fleet of 40 roaming ass holes just hitting structures in bulk for the cores. And we subsequently would be taking an even bigger risk by re-anchoring as its likely to get hit again. Should we have to replace them over and over again just to have the opportunity to own and operate our own structures ?
I do understand that this can be painful for some people who were (even if just barely) able to afford it until this update.
But yea, it will now be a little more likely that your structure will get attacked. For some people with not enough defences this will cause them to lose their structures. For others with enough friends or friendly neighbours in a similar situation this may not change nothing for them at all.
The thing this update will change most is structure spam. And that’s why I think it’s a good change for the game.
(I just wonder what will happen to the Keepstars in tiny WH space…)
Incorrect: Timers will hold
Repair / Fitting / Tether will be offline. . .
‘Required for existing structures
Without a core installed, fitting, tethering, and repair services will be disabled’
Because reasons…
Raitarus are more cheaper than Astras and the most droped to citadel spam because of that.
Also Fortizars can allow capitals dock, azbels don’t.
Quantum Cores do, once installed, change nothing to your structure timers. This means roaming fleets won’t just hit your structure as they want to kill something, not bash one timer to come back twice later this week.
Sweet.
If its good for the game and to combat structure change why not have a partial grandfathering or even for existing structures get a coupon to make it half the price so people can plan better.
You ever met high sec war deccers?
There will be grandfathering. Until 12 January 2021.
You could have reduced the structure spam simply by making the structures more expensive. Instead you introduce a new item and new mechanic, thereby reducing the quality of life in game and inflicting more misery on the player.
Yea, we like going after the abandoned structures so it can be killed in one go instead of 3.
Umm… no. Regulating anything in eve off of its ISK value is stupid and ineffective. All it does is hurt the developing entities
This is exactly what CCP is doing: they are making the structures more expensive. They just didn’t put all cost up front, but part of it at the anchoring phase in order to encourage more fights by giving incentives for both sides to show up.
CCP Dopamine
i feel like your trying drive out players likeme.im builder just want to play the game. i play the game on 2 accounts. i been playing for 6 years. $30.00 is not much to you. but it is to me. i lose when you do stuff like this, first moon ore and now this ,6.5 bil lion isk. to my to stations. it not fair to me. i don’t cheat…
i think im going take my $ 30.00 some where else. it not worth it…
Most ridiculous thing other than being CONCORDED for shooting an empty wreck.
Just no.
They shoulda just flipped abandoned state to not needing a wardec. . .
The only way this can have an effect on structure spam is if there is a cost to installing the core that goes up with each additional core an alliance or corp installs, so there is diminishing returns from having more and more structures.
Without the escalating cost, this will have the same effect on reducing structure spam as the high cost of building a Titan has on the number of Titans: zero. Fixed costs are easily overcome. Escalating costs, much harder.
It seems silly that we need a wardec to clean space of abandoned trash indeed.
On the other hand, it’s hilarious to always see that one guy bring an out-of-corp character and accidentally pull Concord.
And with the implementation schedule, every group has the ability to assess if they need/want to scale back to minimize their financial risk associated with structure ownership. Just going of the # of GSF keepstars I remember from a year or so back they had 50+ of them. That’s 1.5 trillion just to keep their existing keeps, let alone all of their other structures.
And they have only gotten away with it because there was no value in grinding down their structures.
So now a small group will have to save up for their defense fund and hire some mercs to protect their structure.
And don’t get me wrong. I’m not super stoked. I’m coming back from a long break. Myself and some friends were a small corp living in WH space. I was just kicking around the idea of moving back in again but this kinda stopped those plans in their tracks. At least until we see how things shake out.
