Quantum Cores - Updates begin 8 September

Challenge accepted, i don’t know much about legal stuff, but I’ll be happy to throw some RL money into a Go Fund Me to a class action suit if it will stop CCP from stacking the deck more and more in favor of PvPer’s, suicide gankers and Nullbears. I’ll even throw in a little extra so they can buy some lip balm and pry bars to help with lip to ass removal

Just fyi, CCP takes this (making legal threats) seriously.

Sounds like they are finally listening. FYI, i had an epiphany at work the other day, this quantum core mechanic also gives CCP a means to control how many ships of each type are allowed in the game, and who can get them. This is the beginning of the end of a player controlled economy and market

BTY, which 2 rules?

omg you’re actually serious

trash solution to a non problem

It’s really not.
It’s more along the lines of…
You pay for entry to a theme park that has some totally free rides and some rides that have an extra cost you earn by doing other rides, they have this awesome ride you like.
Half way through the day they change the ride around, close part of it and put it as a second ride.
But you can earn that second ride for ‘free’ by doing other things in the theme park.
You still have admittance to the theme park, which is what your RL money paid for.

And this is why it’s laughable trying to take legal action, because it’s not tied to RL money, it’s an imaginary in game currency that you can not legally buy with RL money.

I am. CCP has made it clear that PvP is their main priority and that indy/miners are second class citizens. The fact that Quantum cores cannot be player built, gives them sole control over them. It looks more and more like this is the first step in removing player based indy from the game. Let’s not forget that running data sites are pretty much useless. The general disdain for small indy groups is as obvious as balls on a tall dog, removal of player indy control is not too far of a stretch

Um sure. If i go to a theme park and the roller coaster i want to ride after lunch was free before lunch, but now costs an additional fee after lunch and that extra money is so the guy behind me can pick my pocket and have something to show for it…you’re god damn right i have a problem with it

  1. It wasn’t free before lunch, it cost something already.
  2. You can earn the tokens for the ride by playing free games inside the theme park. They just changed the number of tokens required based on demand.

You don’t own a station do you. If you did, you would already understand that the station owners already paid the entrance fee (buying the station) and the token fee (fuel). Now CCP is asking us to walk around the theme park with a minimum amount of money in our wallets so that a mugger can beat us up, have a guaranteed payout and run away with minimal chance of getting caught

No, the entrance fee is your monthly subscriptions. (Be it via Plex or card).
Nothing else is included in your subscription, the rest of it is in tokens.

The subscription is the maintenance fee, that fee is consistent whether i own a station or not, CCP doesn’t change the subscription cost based on what you have, so try again. You can’t win this argument, even the Devil himself is taking notes from CCP on how to screw one group of paying customers to benefit another

  1. That is exactly the point the entrance fee does not change on what you have. The entrance fee is the only point RL money is involved. Everything else is paid for by tokens that only exist inside the theme park. Therefore there can be no grounds for a class action suit or anything else, because you still have what you paid for, admittance to the park.

  2. Screwing customers isn’t automatically against the law. You seem to be taking me laughing at the idea of legal action as me liking the update, I can confirm that isn’t the case. However I’m a grown up, and I know that MMO’s change gameplay based on perceived needs. So I accept this is happening (based on the CCP development process we aren’t stopping this), and will make appropriate steps to my in game actions to work with what I have.

I’m grown up too and have been playing since 2013. I get that changes happen, but this is a very one sided change with a very clear goal to destroy some aspects of game play to directly benefit another side…at the cost of one demographic of the player base

Let’s face it, if your car manufacturer just decided to rip the engine out of your car and told you, you can replace it with an easily removable solid gold engine with no serial numbers and you had to decide, do i pay the extra cost for the easily steal-able untraceable engine or still have a car that lost some core functionality…i imagine you would have some objections, unless you are a car thief, in which case, that’s a good policy

I agree, we aren’t stopping this. No matter how bad the idea is, they are doing it for the benefit of their PvP friends, having a discussion forum is just a means of letting the players feel like their input matters. In reality, we may as well just sit around and masturbate, at least when we are done masturbating, we will have a little something to show for it

Edit feature, seriously, use it.

And tinfoil is bad for you.
While we can disagree as to if it will work they’ve been quite open about what they are attempting to address with this, and it’s not about “Give PvP friends more shinies”.

What? They have made it very clear that they want PvPers to get a reward for bashing stations. This whole thing is to make sure that PvPers get rewarded for bashing stations and that only large entities can have stations. No foil involved, if you read the wording carefully, you will see that i am not wrong. If you want me to defend my arguments, i already have, but this discussion is quite long so i don’t mind reiterating

What it might cause and what CCP’s motivations behind it are do not have to align.
They are clearly not doing it to feed PvPers. They are doing it for other reasons.
Will it end up just feeding giant highsec wardec alliances and hardly doing anything in other areas of space? Well, probably. But that doesn’t mean that CCP did it for those groups.

CSM are not CCP.
