PA’s repeatedly said they’re not interfering w/CCP. Hilmar’s confirmed this in public statements as well. Look back over the last 18 months, and you see a whole bunch of insane ideas being shoved in, all coming from one place: Mr. Chaos, CCP Hellmar.
It would be nice to have the CHOICE of removing it / off lining once the station has been anchored .
It’s just a poorly designed game mechanic:
Old stations your tether/repair/refit will work fine…
Get a Core and pay more - New stations have made a technological jump backwards, services that used to work don’t without a (now required) magical key.
CCP couldn’t even retrofit all the old stations because it would be an ISK bonanza,
They can’t make it removable because people would use one core for many stations.
You can’t even shut down the services a core provides and hide the fact you have one fitted.
It’s cost vs the services it provides is not close to being balanced.
The bounty it provides a war dec group is huge compared to the effort of destroying a station.
That’s not how it works. It’s not removable because they want every station to have one of these cores. The only structures that can get away with the choice are those that are pre-existing, and that’s basically a courtesy as far as I can see. They are going to expect 100% adoption.
That’s because they expect every structure will have one of these.
I’m not sure you get how this mechanic is supposed to work.
My bad - as I said before - if you don’t need these don’t fit one
…well they want every NEW station to have one, the old stations, well they don’t need cores unless they want certain services
I suppose they could have grandfathered them in if they wanted 100% adoption but then being such a f**k awful mechanic, that would just have given away billions of ISK as Null sec decommissions all their spam. of course the existing spam will stay but with no services - after all its the grind for removal that is the null spam tactic not the services these structure afford.
I refer to the use of the wording CHOICE in the dev blog - its nice that they say it, if only they had implemented it
It’s a poorly thought game mechanic to fix a null sec spam problem and ccp didn’t think thru the consequences for any other region of space - one of the main reasons crap like this happens is because the CSM advisors are mostly null-centric, but then you would know all about EvE being all about Null
Alternatively, CCP thought through the consequences and does not share your concern for all of the highsec farmers with useless stations in war-immunity holding corps.
Well, They didn’t think the mechanic through enough to realize that even tho they want all stations to have one they can’t retrofit them because of the windfall it would provide to the blocks holding all the spam stations.
They didn’t think it though enough to conclude that they can’t force a user to fit them by removing a few non-essential services
— so I’m assuming they didn’t think the mechanic through for all the other things it screws up as well
…but then we are all free to make assumptions as evident by content of the majority of your posts.
First of all, this wasn’t the CSM’s idea and I have been publicly critical of it here and elsewhere.
Second, tbus isn’t a mechanic designed solely to fix a problem. They wanted to incentivize destroying structures, regardless of where they are, and wanted dropping structures to feel more substantial and risky. This was outlined in the dev blog and in CCP Rattati’s later comments. Fundamentally, they want everybody to feel like killing a structure is worth doing, so they guaranteed an isk payout for doing it.
That’s why they did it. We will see what the consequences are, but as I noted elsewhere, it’s not likely to be galactic armageddon like some folks seem to think.
As stated in the dev blog "Deploying structures haphazardly to bait opponents is often seen by many as a good strategy, because razing them all down can be unsatisfying and laborious. "
I know you’re null-centric but even you must know there aren’t many folks in hi-sec ‘haphazardly deploying structures to bait opponents’
So, @CCP_Rise, @CCP_Dopamine, @CCP_Rattati, @CCP_Convict —was the Aeon’s size increase supposed to go live already without telling anyone? Will the rest of the supercarriers get a similar increase of +110% size? (4k to 9k)
You conveniently skipped the sentences that this sentence was sandwiched in between:
“It should mean something every time you place a structure and every time you destroy one. At the moment, that isn’t always the case” and " The incentive and reward for attacking structures will be increased and the chance of both sides showing up to fight is also increased."
You’re hung up on the structure spam aspect to this and ignore all of the other reasons they have said they’re doing it for.
You are so stuck thinking what you have seen is everything. I invited new players to play this game about a 2 years ago, all they did what try and get a station up, buy plex, mine and build things. I understand this is just what have seen. 100% of the new people I have got to start playing the game have done exactly what you said doesn’t happen
