Researching the Rogues

This event was alot of fun. I witnessed alot of ganking and shenanigans in low sec. I probably ganked 5b+ worth of ships.

It is ascii you have to covert to letter form than then run it through google translate

A good event. I personally like the theory crafting aspect of these events (the BC event last year was another good one for that).

I started with a Worm, then tried a Kiki (like everyone else, it seems), then a Sunesis then finally settled on a Succubus. Enjoyed trying all the fits very much.

Best hacking loot in a long time.

Well spread out between hi and low sec too.

Although my reply is long after the event, I have to agree. I hit a few of the warp gates to those Rogue Drone Outgrowth Colonies to find myself in the center of so many drones of all strengths that my overview was nothing but red targets (my overview is set to around 24-ish items).
My usual method of entering an anomaly 20km away and approaching while launching missiles and letting my drones loose to soften the field was immediately ended as I was in the center of drones hitting me before I had a chance to lock up one target.
The warp gate gave no indication of the distance from the center of NPC enemy, giving no time to prepare a plan of attack - luckily, I always keep an emergency warp location ready to click and run, for as I entered the first level of drones, by the time I locked one NPC, my shields were gone, alarms going off, armor at half… warp drive spooling up to TGHO. Fortunately I did not have time to deploy my drones or I would have had to make the choice to leave them or risk a destroyed ship while they returned. By the time my warp initiated, I was taking damage to the structure - no shields remaining, no armor either.
Granted, I was in a destroyer with around 1000hp for shields, armor and structure, but taking 2500 damage in the blink of an eye was reminiscent of falling into a fleet of jump gate campers in low-sec.
Maybe I got used to pop-up windows stating I was entering a cruiser-level or higher combat site, but there was no information near the jump gate as to what to expect. One could say ā€œwell, that’s EVEā€ā€¦ another could say ā€œIf you have this new feature/event, let the players have SOME information as to what is on the other side of the warp gate acceleratorā€ā€¦ no wonder I had a week of seeing a lot of capsules docking at the station.
After three tries (thinking some might be easier or set up differently), I just stopped participating in the event - I’m not going to lose a ship or five to find out that nothing valuable is waiting for me on the other end.

Technically, there is a popup: if you try to use the gate with a ship that isn’t allowed, it will give you the information that only corvettes, T1/faction frigates and T1/faction destroyers may enter the site (basically only small ships that even alpha clones can use), which in theory should indicate the relatively low difficulty level.
Except for two of the latest and arguably most overpowered ships in this category: the Kikimora, which can nuke any single target in seconds - including the boss - and the Skybreaker, which loves dealing with swarms of enemies. Coincidentally both of these are omega only ships. And someone mentioned here before that the sites were probably balanced around these two ships.

Believe it or not, but CCP once put on an event where every single person on grid got points for the site being completed (Shadow of the Serpents, summer of… 2016, IIRC). the event also went for 40 straight days. Man, what a time that was. Sure, people could still fight over the loot can, but the site itself, just being there and shooting crap… got you points. Was a great event, easy to get to the max points needed for all rewards.

That’d be nice. There were events once upon a time where 8, 10, 12 sites would stack up in dead-end HS systems due to lack of people running 'em. 5 to 6 years ago or so. CCP sometimes tunes the spawn rate to limit events to 1 or 2 sites per system artificially or else those days could still be here.

I tend to run an event (if I run one, I didn’t bother with this one, too busy with other things) with all 3 of my mains or all 3 of my alts, and due to the killing rats and killing bosses tasks being per 1 ship at a time, that means I’d have had to do 94-96 sites to get the nestor skin on all 3 of my toons. nothxplz.

Yep, see my above post about how events used to be.

Spread the hell out, there are hundreds of backwater systems where these sites piled up. Move yourself 20 jumps from a hub.

Nope. I spent 10 hours in wormhole space and found one event data site. Yet another cruddy CCP ā€œeventā€

I see! It’s Czech, and my computer doesn’t have the right character set to display it.

what about the new drones, when do they come into play? heavy modified rogue drone for example?
