[resolved] 20260507 - Authentication and Connection Errors

I ddossing even still a thing? You would have thought that working protections against it were established in the year 2026 .

yep WT also has the exact same issues - strange!

DDosing will always be a thing. Theres nothing stopping a group of people to spam a server enough to lock it down…anywhere.

Sure there is…simply block ip’s the moment it spams more than 4 pings/sec…this is a clear sign for an attack…the few innocent that get caught in that for whatever reason are just colleteral damage that is acceptable… But i admit that this needs knowledge that most that run a server are not capable of…

You make it sound easy. Blizzard has put up with ddos attacks for 22 years and they still havent figured it out. The reason is are the means of how the attacks are changing. Its not as simple as just blocking ip’s when it come to that many requests at one time. The folks doing it know how to get past all the checkpoints.

Its not just gaming servers either, Its many different kinds of servers worldwide.

still getting unable to connect error - any suggested fixes atr user end?

Same getting connect error Im in AU dont know if its location problem?

I had no issues prior to last night patch

also getting an error in AU, looks like there might be a cloudflare issue here as using a VPN a avoids it.

My game keeps shutting down. No chat working too when I am able to log in. Is it just me or is anyone else experiencing problems?

I am unable to access servers in Australia. my game was working fine 2 or so hours ago (currently 1:50 am here) I have gone through and sorted out my authenticator and restarted the game multiple times. please advise on the next steps that I can take

I was having the same issue login server not connecting on port 26000. Seems to be a problem for us aussies. I signed up to Nord VPN problem fixed and logged in straight away

No problems at all logging in from West Aust.

No issues logging in from US EST.

still 24 hours later… Easten Australia… unable to login. constantly sent to authenticator and I’m unable to use a VPN this is ridiculous. i have spent so much money on this game for his to happen. “free” to play until you have to buy a VPN and miss out on your daily rewards…

im right there with you, I have a ticket in with them hopefuly it gets some movement soon.

Every first year it student can code you an ip scanner that does the job…the reason ddos still works is simple : the companies want an egg laying wool producing pig that also gives milk…they want maximum protection for their servers while maintining maximum convinience for their customers while best ping possible…You cannot have that… THIS is the reason ‘blizzard did not get grip on ddos for 20 years’…they don’t know how to do it because it’s impossible to keep a server maximal open while having maximal protection…if they would simply make it more inconviniend for their customers ddos wouldn’t even be a minor problem…

That’s so blatantly false its not even funny.

Even blocking all the IP’s you still have to deal with the massive influx of incoming traffic to allow through the legitimate requests, and that alone requires some level of processing on all the traffic to deternamine if it should be dropped or not.

the reason is not what you are suggesting, the reason is that is stupidly hard to do.

You simply have no clue what you are talking about…this statement make this painfully clear…

I guess you have never tried to do any kind of processing on network traffic at a multi gigabit scale, let alone tried to do any kind of detection that would allow you to drop traffic at that scale?

and thats before you consider the kind of multi terrabyte attacks that happen these days.

so no, your “first year student” doesn’t stand a hope in hell of mitigating a modern DDOS, because that takes highly specialised hardware and incredibly complex software to run on it to be able to even stand a hope of doing anything to a real DDOS attack.

oh and all of that is assuming it even gets to your application server, chances are something in the network infra will fail well before it even gets that far.

All the hundreds of multi million dollar companies around the globe that have fought ddos attacks for years and still struggle with it…and using all their best resources as well.

Yet Uta has it all figured out on a gaming forum. Its just that easy. :stuck_out_tongue:
