Resource Redistribution Update

We know CCP never looks at their own forums, and even if they do they NEVER listen to the players. last two years have been an absolute train wreck of failures.

it is kinda dissapointing to see that these changes will have a huge impact to new players who want to focus on the industry part of eve…

Why even have Hi-Sec? When I started the game I only really mined because it is a good entry level way to get used to some of the game.

Seriously? Why even have hi-sec.

Do unto others.

This is the Point!

Are they going to act on said feedback, or is this just a place for players to vent on deaf ears like the Quantum Core thread?

What does that even mean?

Your first point is completely unimportant. Those are causes of price increases. It doesn’t matter what the cause is. When gas prices are high, it is completely unimportant why they are high, the result is that purchasing it at higher prices reduces income that can be used for something else. Commodities are commodities because their consumption is not optional.

It doesn’t matter if income is “infinite.” The isk supply is not changing. Bounties are not being buffed. Maybe people rat more or run more missions, but that doesn’t matter. Reducing bounties would have exactly the same impact on personal wealth and income.

Not even defending CCP here, but ok.

The biggest issue with this change is its scale.

To me the best argument against it is that the outcome is totally unpredictable (other than higher prices and less conflict). It’s a bet the farm decision that companies make when they are either under substantial duress or completely out of ideas. It doesn’t appear that CCP is in either camp.

The better question is what other options exist to achieve the objectives. But, of course, it’s not totally clear what the objectives are.

From my pov, they would be far smarter trying to deflate the isk economy via removing sinks (which would lead to price declines) than inflate via killing production. The reason for this are pretty simple.

  1. New players don’t have a lot of isk. Inflation is death for new players.

  2. The issue with destruction is that it only matters is isk destroyed > isk created in any period of time. The only way to make this happen is to slow down isk creation…which is all drive by too much faucet activity. Deflating the economy is actually beneficial to the new player experience.

  3. It’s also beneficial to destruction since the willingness to be destroyed is driven by its cost. What these changes do is raise the cost of being destroyed without providing any additional benefit for destruction (particularly of ships). It’s completely counterproductive to the end in mind (more destruction)

I don’t disagree with these changes but this game really feels like the players are being told how to “enjoy” playing.

It’s like a D&D game where the players don’t control their actions all they get to do is roll the dice.

they aren’t all roughly equivalent and it appears this update will make them even more different

Of course it matters what the cause is. That’s what econ 101 teaches you. Movements in demand and supply have different implications.

Of course it matters. The relative value of botting is increasing as is the relative value of isk based activities versus resource based activities.

Reducing bounties would not have the same impact. Reducing bounties would decrease prices, lower the cost of conflict and therefore increase conflict

Please try a reasonable argument at some point

upvoting this. hadn’t even occurred to me

Basically, you trash-talked me for “not knowing industry,” and then got upset when I responded in kind.

Treat people the way you want to be treated.

No, i know i don’t have to, and in some cases i don’t need to, i can buy things. Think of it in terms of a gardener, sometimes you want to grow you own food and in some cases, you have to go to the store

Exciting, finally some changes! Can’t wait to see how much better EVE will be due to these changes! Also, reminder, these aren’t permanent changes, just a tweak on the path to fully adjusting the ecosystem. (inb4 all these krabs freak out thinking it’s perma)

I’m with you here m8, they say it’s a player sandbox but keep making the players do what they want them to do instead of letting it happen the way the players want it to so they can have the fun they desire instead of being railroaded like literally every other game in existence. If I want no options to game play I’ll go back to diablo or dungeons & dragons online -_-

Well, as a casual player, happy to find simple enjoyment in mining and other docile gameplay in Eve, this is a shame. Sure, there are folks that play that hate people like me, and say that the “game” has no room for my type. Two thoughts…One, it’s a game and is supposed to be fun (for all I assume)…i.e I don’t want to pay to play a game that stresses me as much as RL where I have plenty, and two, I have contributed REAL money to this game since 2010 and as a paying customer, I feel my enjoyment in this game is as important as others. Without my type, I think Eve would have been gone a long time ago. Stable, casual players, loyal to monthly subscription fees are a large part of the budget I think that keeps the doors open at CCP.

Okay, so you have demonstrated that you can copy and paste. However you have not respected my style of game play and also belittled my indy skills, so FU

The damage is already done, the more they “tweak” the more damage they do, the more the players realize they cannot trust CCP.
