The issue with the high sec island is you have to move it out, and there are no “low skill” options for that, much like a low sec pocket. These are camped. It happens.
The implications are painful when you consider what they are moving into low sec. Mining in low sec takes a pretty deep level of knowledge. Does mining in low happen? Sure. I can name at least three alliances that are doing just that right now…but they are on moon rocks with rorqs…
Mining belts with subs…reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee that sounds, exciting.
The high-sec guys crying are getting that all wrong, they underestimate both null’s appetite for trit and null’s capability to spit out high ends, trust me, null needs more trit, a lot more trit, more trit than you can fathom.
So this may move some low sec entities into powerhouse status. There are a few that can engage the null blocks on a limited basis (i.e. they main fleets are out of a mid or two) they are going to get significantly richer, as an organization.
…for EVERYONE prices are going up, big time. Rocks, ships, everyone. The big losers are going to be null miners and and anyone working off of a bounty.
Pay Red/Black Frog, reset medical clone, bang, done.
Low Sec pockets are not regularly camped.
Sure, there will be hunters now and then, but honestly it’s not that hard to deal with if you absolutely must mine your own minerals.
Fair enough, EDENCOM is outside of my scope to be honnest. I was more putting foreward an idea to a: give an equal value to the WormholeBro`s space and b:add something to gameplay and newBro experiance. I think its a better gameplay experiance for newBros to ninja there way into a WH and ninja-mine some mercroxit for there first smal fortune than mine Veldspar, but that was just an idea i wanted to put on the table.( hoping maybe a dev will see it and it hase the seed planting effect)
Being a Nullsec player, and alliance Exec with a Wormhole background i talk to quite a few Highsec pilots and corperations, and a common thing i hear is the huge bump to get over the highsec border into other parts of the game. Once you show them, 99 times out of a 100 Highsec is rellic of the past for them.
Considering the ore in them has its own entries on the chart, I kind of doubt they will.
Good god, no. No passive income, dammit. Nobody should get a payday they don’t have to risk their crap out in space for. You want the isk, you go earn the ISK.
FTFY. No, really /r/eve is just a little more toxic than Love Canal.
The Frogs are expensive for someone just getting started, and you can bet that those pockets are going to get a lot more attention when ALL of certain minerals coming from low.
Your challenge was no low skill option.
I just gave you one.
Quit moving the goalposts. It can be done low skill, it’s not that expensive, especially since you can go in with 5 other people on a combined freight move.
And sure, those pockets might briefly get more attention, but there is a LOT of lowsec, and not many people are going to spend all that time hunting it on the chance of a cheap venture kill.
I don’t mean the ore going away, but it could be exclusive to lim systems which are not reachable through kspace gates. This would be a clever move.
BTW, passive income bundled in a chokepoint entity you could fight over anytime was a perfect content driver. The ESS plan comes close here, wonder why this wasn’t installed yet … goons don’t like it?
Oh now it’s a newbro in a venture?
We’ve moved a long way from ‘there are no low skill options’.
Answer me this, why does a newbro in a venture need to be solo mining in lowsec?
I mean, I talked about a group going in together to move to a highsec island. Now it’s a solo newbie?
Miners are fine, in fact miners win from this change.
Why? It was good for content, the large LS groups started to disappear after that change. You might dislike passive income, it’s still better than an empty LS.
If the goal is purely to hand lowseccers their own mineral, then it could be done via NPC hauler spawns that drop a jackpot of minerals in the loot that just needs freighting off, obviating the need for mining at all and frankly more in line with what lowsec gameplay actually is.
Passive income rewards not playing, and caters to groups w/fleets of supercapitals able to control many of those points without having to spend time using them. Now we have active income on a chokepoint entity that can be fought over any time. The only difference is that you have to actually use the moon fields.
Goons don’t give a rat’s ass about it. CCP’s gonna do what they’re gonna do, and they don’t care what anyone who pays for the game thinks about their moves.

LSH, PHEW, Snuff, etc might disagree with you on that, as would Templis CALSF and a lot of other groups. Just because some groups collapsed—in many cases a result of leadership burnout more than anything else—doesn’t mean everyone, or even mostly every one, did.
And the same logic still applies, more travel, more risk, unlikely to be enough more reward. And, of course, those very systems will be the most likely to have people trying to blow you up.
But that’s ok. Time will tell. When low sec mining doesn’t increase and the winners of the game play are the hoarders, CCP will tell us this is all according to “the plan.”
