I have no sympathy for those who let themselves be manipulated into spending money because of “clever social engineering”. If it was so clever we wouldn’t know about it. I think that social engineering crap is just an excuse for turning idiots into victims.
Bottom line is, if one thinks it’s too expensive or unfair then the answer isn’t far-fetched: don’t pay and don’t participate.

Of course. If the point on CCP’s part is to get more subs it goes without saying they’ll do whatever they can within the Law to do so, that “whatever” will translate into incentives.

But even including people who are wise and intelligent, CCP makes changes that you cant really predict, you can plan for many future scenarios.
One plan is to stop playing and convert assets to PLEX. Maybe coming back when the whole storm calms and players see thru CCP dirty tricks. It is wiser than playing in current situation when they expose you to different “temptations”.

It is manipulators fault, not manipulated. Manipulated is victim, set up to be manipulated by manipulator, it is manipulators who is initiating act, so the consequences should be on the side of manipulator. People can be tricked into giving houses, cars, all their money. Not only game ISK. What is not allowed in real life, shouldnt be allowed in game. Like gambling. But corporations dont care, because money can buy certain people…
With allowing your position you will get corporations running rampant, exploiting you personally on each step, because they can, and if you will realize it, what you can do will be to say “gosh, I was fooled”, and you will be constantly fooled by different companies. Evil is created when there is no consequences for perpetrator.
Good thing I don’t invest so much time and effort into a game. I don’t see myself wasting my time and effort and grinding until I’m just F-ing sick of it just to be able to plan for many future scenarios…
And for WHAT exactly? More ISK, more resources, more of what ? What’s to be WON in letting a game in your head rent-free to the point of losing sleep, of coming in a forum and whine to a tantrum, of potentially rage quitting and shorting yourself of the fun to be had if only one can see that it’s just a game and nothing to get sick over or be tempted to sink hundreds of euros into it ? Just to continue playing the same way ? To be first on killboard ? What is it ? A euphoric feeling to be “good” at a game, a bunch of pixels coupled with sound effects and music ? Is THAT what some people get pissy about ? If it is, those people need serious help.
If one is such player as described above then yes, it would better for that person to not touch EVE ever again.
The inaccessible industry jobs thing is even more rubbish than the inaccessbility of goods. As if the Trigs would just leave that running for you, cause they are such nice creatures and would not want to impose.
No one who put their stuff in an NPC hi-sec station should be punished for walking away from EVE for a while. That was always the known way to ensure assets were safe for people leaving. And of course there was asset safety otherwise and it should have been applied to Trig takeovers. Seems a no-brainer. People got lives and serious things happen, injured or ailing relatives, job transfers, moving house and country, etc. Punishing people for it is rubbish.
The industry jobs is another kettle of fish though. There should be no delay whatsoever to get those jobs canceled if you want. In fact, it should be made possible to cancel jobs from anywhere just to avoid this issue in the future.

Gambling is fully allowed where I live. We have casinos right next to the prostitute neighborhoods and, as always, no one forces anyone to use either of those.

CCP created EVE some 30yrs ago yet I only downloaded it 6 weeks ago. What happened ? Why didn’t I get the memo that EVE exists and that I HAVE to download it or my quality of life would somehow be diminished…?

But I don’t call it a “trick” when someone downloads a game of his own choosing and decides to pay ( in whatever form ) of his own choosing to be able to access features in the game that he KNEW were behind a paywall for a gameplay he KNEW would not be sustainable at a satisfactory level while knowing there’ll be grind and knowing that the game is going through changes that may or may not affect his gameplay.
