“Some serious JK fans in here” grumbled Harry.
“Oh shut up Harry” snapped Hermione, “Just because you think you’re funny doesn’t mean you can say what you like.”
“Hermione’s right” mumbled Ron, endlessly repeating the one phrase he was permitted.

It’d be a real shame if something happened to your chart… Capisce?
hey, just wanted to see how this was coming along?
Better than my DUST 514 tabletop RPG.
Sorry mate, I’ve been tied up with RL work quite a lot.
For what it’s worth I’ve made contact with someone at CCP and I’m currently trying to see if I can get some input from them on the project content. I’ve now got it pretty much close to finishing, but I just need to do some last minute stuff (maybe to be done over the Christmas holiday) finalise any CCP suggestions and then it’ll be ready to go in front of the peer review panel, once it’s past that, publishing time.
Thanks for the continued interest and support! (You’re definitely still on the panel too!)
Small update: I’m just re-doing a bit of the chart to keep the box positions consistent in terms of vertical spacing (which should make it slightly neater) and dropping in the path connecting lines.
I’m drawing the chart up in Adobe Illustrator, which has layers, so I’m also trying to group the various elements into thematic groups so that after I’ve finished the main chart, I can produce smaller, pull out charts, for example, just the extraction career paths, or just the Wormhole career paths.
Apologies for the delay but hopefully it’ll be great once it finally gets finished.
Short update
I’ve now completed the layout for the Industry (including, extraction, hauling, production and market) and the community (including, in-game, out-of-game, education and volunteering sections) sections. In total there are 96 different career cards plus about a hundred keylines and arrows to link it all together. Hard and meticulous work but it’s really looking good.
Apologies for the low resolution of the picture. I don’t want to give away too much info on the content at this stage before it’s been reviewed by the peer review panel. Once its finished high resolution versions will be available.
I’m now starting on the PvE and PvP sections (which are a bit bigger and more complex), see you in a couple of weeks.
Progress Update
All of the non-PvP sections of the career chart are now well and truly finished … phew!
Community
Volunteering, Out-Of-Game, In-Game, Education – 32 separate career activity cards.
Industry
Extraction, Hauling, Production, Market – 38 separate career activity cards.
In terms of the design side of things, the chart has been created in Adobe Illustrator so that layers can be turned on/off and simplicity and/or complexity can be modified where required.
For example, each career card on the chart is made up of 31 separate elements. Although these don’t all appear on every card, it does mean that cards can be easily modified in the future should the complexity of a career path activity change or become more/less expensive.
Allowing for the career cards, plus the category headers, and specialism and sub-specialism sub-headers, plus career path connection lines, so far there are around 2,331 elements in the chart at the moment.
Once I’ve fully added in the sections on PvE, PvP, Corporations and Alliances this will at least double because these sections are as big, if not bigger, than Community and Industry.
In the process of re-designing the chart I’ve created 14 different career card masters, plus masters for category, specialism and sub-specialism headers, as well as for connection lines and so on. This means that if career paths or career path activities need to be re-arranged in the future, or new paths and activities added in (almost certain) this can be done easily
The design of all these elements and the document set-up has obviously time consuming. For what it’s worth, it is possibly the most complex bit of graphic design that I’ve ever worked on but I do think in the end it will be worth it - I’m aiming for awesome.
I am sorry to the people who are desperate for me to get it finished - believe me I want it finished too - however hopefully the information above gives you some understanding of the necessary complexity, and hence why it’s taken a while to get to this point.
Once I’ve finished it, I’ve got a great group of players standing by (including some really respected people) to act as a peer review group. They’ll review the chart before it’s published to make sure that, when it’s is, it becomes an indispensable source of game-play inspiration for new and older players.
Thanks for your patience.
Tiny Update
I’m still making good progress and the PvE section is now finished.
Thus …
Community
Volunteering, Out-Of-Game, In-Game, Education – 32 separate career activity cards.
Industry
Extraction, Hauling, Production, Market – 38 separate career activity cards.
PvE
Wormholes, Exploration, Ratting, Incursions – 19 separate career activity cards.
As a new player this really spells out what I can choose to focus on in-game.
Thank you!
Thanks for the positive comment.
When I decided to take it on in March 2021 I didn’t think it’d take this long in all truth and honesty. Work and life, not to mention Covid19 have all conspired to reduce the time I can spend on it each week, but I’m still plugging away although there’s still a lot to do, I am gradually getting there. When it is finally finished I think it will be a cool resource.
I’m probably going to release a standard version initially and then see if I can build in some interactivity for a second release - career cards hot linked to Eve University web pages and videos on YouTube on how to do stuff for example.
LOL I might actually be improving and updating it for the rest of my life!
Just a small post to say that the project is ongoing but that RL work has been a bit intense. Sorry for the delay.
retracted…
A couple of us are starting to work on this in tandem. We should coordinate
I think it’s really biased that “journalism” is considered a career, but where is the Princess career track? You journalists might think that your career is pretty cool, and you want to tell everyone about how you are a bigshot journalist with no less than THREE (3) separate journalist boxes, but I live in a space castle with all the other space vampires, so you can make your little career chart however you want but we all know there should be a career box just for AIKO so that new players know what the best career is.
ohhh this is fun
I’m am getting there, albeit slowly (having said this it’s going to be good when it’s finished, promised!). I’ve now finished PvE, and I’m most of the way through Missioning.
There won’t be a separate box just for you, or for any individual player pilot (sorry) because it’s a chart for everyone and covers all career aspirations. Nothing personal and no offence intended.
Having said this, when the first draft comes out, if you feel that there are areas in the criminal activities and piracy side that should be in there that aren’t, please do suggest them, genuinely, and I’ll see what I can do.
Essentially, whatever my personal proclivities might be, I’m trying to make sure that the chart captures all forms of play-style in Eve Online, not just the ones that I tend indulge in.
For what it’s worth, Missioning straddles the divide between PvE and PvP so once I have that sorted and squared away, I’ll just be working on PvP until the finish, this is all that’s left to do.
Don’t forget the Troll career path.
