Revisiting Old Games You Once Enjoyed

Yesterday, after being away for 6 years, I returned to Neverwinter Online. After I logged in – which took longer than I remember – I found utter sadness. The main hub Protector’s Enclave, before I left normally ran 20 to 30 instances with 40 max players per instance. Any day of the week there was 400 to 900 people found in the hub. Instead, I found 10 instances with 20 people max a total of less than 200 players. I visited other realms and found I was the only person there. If a boss were to spawn, there is no way for one player to take it down.

I asked in chat, where did the forums go? The response was they had been replaced with Discord. All that history of information lost. Could you imagine visiting these forums, to find them replaced with a Discord link and nothing else?

Well it is like they say, You can’t go home again. I knew the game was out of control back in 2019, so I left it, gave away my stuff and said good-bye. Sure the game is not dead, because there was at least 200 people there, but it is in seriously bad shape from the lack of players.

I enjoyed playing Neverwinter Online from 2012 to 2019, but those days are gone. Anyone care to share an old game left behind to starve?

Have fun!

Hide and seek.

Playing Peek a Boo with my cats but I changed it to Meow Meow while standing partly out of sight around the corner.

They seem to like the way in which I catch them in a way that reminds them of how a cat any cat could start halfway between the door and look at you with just one eye.

As for storing old forum information, that would seem like a real bummer for it to had disappeared.

It is! In the original and 2nd iteration there was tons of banter & fun that don’t happen nowadays.
I was only able to find the 2nd iteration of the EVE forums. I wonder where the original forums EVE started with went/are?

Later realization:
I see that Chribba merged the original and the 2nd together on his archive website:

I was one who played City of Heroes religiously. I even purchased an addon pack they offered us, only one month before they announced the shutdown. No, they never refunded the DLC. I wasn’t part of the crowd, who demanded one either. It was a few years later, someone sent me a link claiming it was up and running again. Turned out it was a pirate server. The original legit official game never returned, I still miss it.
