Rich - poor gap widen. Eve policies driven by rich CSM Agenda

I kinda get your fishing point, absolutely.

Orbital fishing fishy planets some kind of Alien Dinopods, would be cool, and even down to 3d if you ask me, but that is a min. of 50 real M… thrown into nothingness…

Imagine a future inter-dependance, of two realities, should come from the base or the Top?

When we live in an Era of hyperconsolidation of just the Top tier environment, most rl people

get automatically excluded, so I get it, and it intertwines with the thread beautifully instead.

Yes and no, I think he added a layer of complexity and flow to this thread I had not imagined before his intervention. And there is some deeper meanings to explore, I think he’s touched something..

I consume one Orange fresh juice a day, otherwise my body denies me to even think, transmuted into the game, maybe worth of attention, but shaking the “auto-plexing” machine is on an all other level I’m not keen to touch.

Gap? what gap? I started a little over two years ago. Have little over 8 billion in Isk. Would have three times that amount, but for RL. The Isk in of itself does not interest me as much as enjoying what I am doing. However of you want to make Isk In a more reliable way.

Try using EveGuru or even Adam4eve. Both can help you along the way. However coming here and crying about gankers. And your inability to use the tools provided. Such as Dotlan to plan as safe a course as possible through those unfriendly skies. Is not going to garner you any sympathy.

But i am guessing this is another of those sad thread forums of I want the game to change for me.

Drake, your post alone is one of the several reasons why I play.

The CSM does what it can to assure that FC pays attention. That is one of the major reasons that gives Eve Online its staying power.

Wrap it up.

Ya haven’t understood why this post exist, and / or you’re not paying attention to RTM events also present in EVE, so RL is not a concern to you.

It is for 99% of world players thought.

@Queotzcatl

I’m a bit concerned - because some of what you’re saying sounds like you are having real life challenges - and no matter the state of the game I’m truly sorry for that and hope it works out for you.

This is just a game. It needs to stay that way for all of us. Take a break - take a walk. Hug a cat. And remember its only pixels.

I garuantee you theres a way you play and have fun that doesn’t cause you this amount of stress - you just need to find it and I hope you do.

Now I want o answer you seriously on a number of the points that you keep making, and I hope you don’t take them as insults. The fact is EVERY player in this game has gone througfh periods of trying and failing and trying and failing - sometimes spending billions of ISK and hundreds of hours on strategies that just don’t work - and then it feels perfectly reasonable to rage at the imbalance or unfairness of the game.

But. Honestly, with no disrespect or malice intended, it really looks like you have focused on a strategy that just WILL NOT work, and instead of understanding that and adapting, you are doubling down and blaming the game and game balance.

Queotz - that’s like someone playing rock paper scissors and complaining that his rock needs to be bigger.

Eve has always been about “bring more numbers” and one player can NEVER defeat multiple players no matter how big the ship or how much they spend. The trick is to make the ship not worth the effort by being too cheap or too sneaky or too damn tanky so that the cost or time it takes to kill it is not worth the effort.

The bigger the ship you fly the bigger the risk - you know this!

Looking at your zkills.. and in general the theme of your posts, You became a bigger target and ESPECIALLY when you equip with high value modules you attract players who are MUCH more expxerienced than you in weighing the cost/value in blowing you up.

That will never change. No matter youre ship - you can be outfought and outgunned by much cheaper ships when they gang up on you. It has been this way since the beginning of the game.

THe fact that you love your blinged out marauder has blinded you to the fact that you fitted it wrong and made it a target by trying to use it in a way that makes it almost useless.

It takes them 3 seconds to learn what the potential value of your ship is. If it is more than the value of the ships they will lose to gank you then you will be ganked in high sec. Even if it isnt but you carry one very expensive item - they might still gank you for you 50/50 chance it will drop. Or if they are bored.

They are expert at this. They are fast. They don’t care. Nothing you say in game or in here will change this reality. It is and has always been part of the game.

Advice:

Don’t bling your ship with more fancy items than the value of the ship itself.
Don’t carry ■■■■ worth more than the ship itself.
Gankers are scanning you and running calculators to see if its worth suiciding you before you know they are there. Assume you are being watched constantly. - and sometimes will do it anyway even at loss just cos they are bored.

Don’t fly anything worth more than 20 mill without focusing on DEFENSE and EHP. Plug your holes (EM!!!) and have an escape strategy if the ship is too preciuous to lose. ECM drones for example sometimes can pull off a hail mary if you’re tackled.

Don’t wear faction or officer gear when you’re solo in ANY ship unless you’re OK with losing it. And you WILL Lose it.

Most importantly really: Don’t get salty or lose your ■■■■ when you lose your ship. That’s the game. Whining here in forums is just putting a bigger target on your back. It’s ONLY PIXELS. The fun is the friends we make along the way. I can tell that you’re hurting about this stuff. That’s not good man.

Lastly - and will all respect cos I think this point might wound you a little, and I’m sorry cos I don’t want to put more salt on the wound, but I really really think yoiu need to understand this before you dig yourself deeper:

I think you need some help understanding basic ship fitting and ship roles. MANY people have already pointed out that your fits really REALLY suck for what you’re trying to do - and when you argue with them very often you seem to misunderstand very simple concepts like EHP and resistances. Understanding ship roles is a core requirement for Eve. When to use a hammer and when to use a scalpel. The Marauder is an OK ship type sure - but it comes with heavy playing penatlies for the unwary. Fitted right its a proper lion.. but it’s not a dragon. “Bastion” is a death sentence in PvP for a solo operator against a crew that know what they’re doing, regardless of cycle time.

You also seem to be misunderstanding the catalyst and dismissing it a bit like its unfair such little ships can have such devastating impact (try telling that to a piranha when you wade into its waters) - and seem to think that just because its cheap it should be unworthy.

In eve cost doesn’t matter - thats kind of a secret it takes a while ot learn. The Catalyst is an EXPERT assassin. It is MEANT to be a pack predator - A hyena to your lion, and 10 Hyenas can totally wipe a lion no matter his size and strength.

Catalyst is a key part of what makes Eve fun. A ship anyone can fly and anyone can afford thats spent a few weeks in the game. It fits in almost every combat scenario as a vital tool to combat large ship aggression - including blob warfare. It is the ship that anyone can jump into to have a go at swarming a titan. It is the king killer - an ultimate balancing tool when players with big ships and bigger wallets get uppity.

Without ships like the Catalyst a lot of players would be locked out of many fun playstyles. You’re getting a lot of grief here becuase the idea of buffing Marauders just to meet the challenge of “10 cheap ships” is for many people here a ridiculous and a losing concept. Eventually it will throw the whole ship balance out of whack. Gankers will just find other ways to kill you.. and your required fix “More ehp” does NOTHING but delay the inevitable - as others here have been telling you.

Maybe - just a suggestion - You need to take a step back and try to understand what people are saying. Try flying something else.. If you MUST fly battleships try something like Dominix - It stopped being meta years ago but its still a hell of a fun ship to fly - and a lot cheaper, and if you invest the skills in it a Domi Navy can be absolutely terrifying - I LAUGH at 10 catalysts in mine and its only t2 all the way through. Gate campers scan it and go on their way - and when someone DOES try to take it out it will be a close call. In fact I will go one on one with your blinged out marauder in my domi navy any day of the week  Domi works especially because players have started to forget how to counter some ships as they get rarer in pvp. There are a lot of hidden gems out there that people have forgotten how to fight - BUT EVERYONE knows how to screw with Marauders. They are the popular meta and so is the guide on beating them.

How about this Queotz: Be different. Think different. Don’t just be one more maruader pilot salty about losing their billion isk ship - try something nastier and cheaper. Maybe you’ll have more fun?

Maybe some of this has been hard to read. Its not personal - I have made enough mistakes to know how you feel and why. Honestly it helps to take a step back. POlease also understand that not everyone here is out to get you or make an enemy of you.

If you can figure out how to make the game work, and be happy about it, Eve will be better. Eve needs happy players.

Fly safe!

RMT? Seriously. Yes RMT can be a serious problem. But it has not been a game breaker. By the way I now thanks to a couple foo sweet sales. Am now over 13 billion ISK. Almost three years and could still have had triple that amount. In game money is not difficult. Once you get past the learning curve. You realize the multitudes of ways to make ISK. I could lose a ship a week and still absorb the cost. As most of the ships I posses have already paid for themselves.

Well except for my Blockade runner. I only use that when I need to be fast and get something somewhere in a hurry. It is not a spectacular fit. Nothing to jump up and down about. The modules are not top end. No Officer or faction fits. But it is quick. It evaded a gate camp the other week. Mostly because they were already engaged in hitting a jump freighter. I was loaded but evidently they were not interested in me than whatever that jump freighter had. But it did help I only had around less than 100 million Isk of cargo. I try not haul more than the ship is worth plus fittings.

You can debate all you like but these are the facts.

Just cause some youtuber who doesn’t play eve gets told a little about a game from someone else who clearly doesn’t know everything; doesn’t make it true…lol there is no gap…lol

Do you want to compare assets? How well do you and all the people you personally know stack up on the lists given? Im not sure how to reason with a person who ignores neutral facts and leadership. I dont think thats probable.

1 Trilllon or above 25 trillion? I have friends that would laugh at you if you even requested a meeting with only 10 trillion in ISK to bring to the table. True fax.

Three years of playing. I have a total net worth of 59.9 billion in assets of which I have over 13 billion in Isk. Could, if not for RL, easily be worth triple that amount. Now how did I do that? I played the game. Aggressively focusing on station trading skills. Spending a year of learning to read and understand how the economy and market works. Lost a lot of ISK as much as I gained. Took more than one bath. Lost on a couple of opportunities. Listened to the players that are wealthy. How they did it. They are willing to teach, but you have to be willing.

Much like in the real world. Just amassing wealth should not be the goal. My goal is to be an explorer. One that can fly a ship that I prefer. One that if I lose a ship. I can easily replace it in moments. I went the manufacturing/station trading route. As that is where I felt comfortable.

Is there an inequality. That is a yes and no question. Yes, as there is a diffinet top 0.01% where a lot of Isk and assets are trapped in. Does that mean you can not get there yourself? No. As I have no real desire to be that wealthy in the game. Though through continuing to be a station trader it is possible.

Now me let address the elephant in the room. The video makes mention that if a player only does the usual grind of activities. Would it be impossible for that player to amass a similar wealth. That is factually true. However what the video does not talk about and should. Is that station trading. Is not about doing the usual grind of activities.

It is a willingness to put up a little Isk. Reading what the market is selling and getting those things to Jita, ect as fast one can. You might start off with one little hauler. With a bad fit. Barely able to get the cargo there. And sold. Make a small profit all at the same time.

You are going to lose and probably lose huge. Station trading is even more cut throat than any other activity. When most are logging off. I have things that are selling. Someone is always trying to undercut you or you them. It is the nature of the beast.

But staying with it and one can be as wealthy as any in the game. There it is. The top .01% is sitting massive wealth. But it also true one can amass your own wealth. If you have the patience. Willingness to fail, repeatedly. But are willing to learn from those that know and from your own mistakes. Have a goal of what you want to do with that wealth is highly recommended.

It is not going to be easy or even overnight. No guarantee as to how long or short it is going to take. But at some point you will be a vet.. Hopefully not a bitter one. A wealthy one at that.

Everyone comes into the game with the same way. An initial amount of Isk and a ship. What you do from there is strictly up to you. Be the self starter, take the initiative. This game does not hand anyone anything. You want something. Be willing to put the effort in getting it. No matter how long it takes.

I don’t think we’re all created equal or that we could all attain the same heights. The world needs and has a Rembrandt and a Michael Jordan. They should be celebrated as such.

That’s a great post though and thank you. You know in the end I don’t really have an issue with the income differences. The overall point that I’m trying to make is that being rich does not do anything for you anymore. Even if you had 100 trillion isk you would be laughed at by the very small group of men in charge. Literally that list which was shown in the video for the known to be wealthiest people that you could even attempt to verify… None of those guys are important at all. It’s apples and oranges. But the oranges are color blind and maybe not everyone wants to be covered in flies…:water_pistol:

When someone informs me the CSM is not happy with any proposals that FC has brought… This tells me they are bringing the correct proposals and I’ll stand with FC.

This is more about the effects of those men on the policies generated by CCP and how they have become cancerous to the true player base due to greed. It’s not about Isk, it’s about power. Power is the only currency that matters. But what decides power should not be at the tip of a pen. It should be at the end of a sword in a PvP dystopian sci fi universe.

At the end of a gun… I ran out of edits.

I have a question.. Is it the wealthiest or the big Alliances that have the most say? It has to be one or the other. As the way this argument is historically presented. Depending on the speaker. It is either the large Alliances.. GoonSwarm, et al or the the .05% wealthy players. That dictate and has the most influence?

It is a trick question. The mundane answer and really boring one. Is that it is neither. Seriously. Neither. Want to know why it looks like one or the other. Is that the people most engaged are the Alliances. If any Alliance and single corp in the game had the most influence. It would be Eve University.

Now here me out before you start typing no it isn’t. You are right they do not have any more influence than anyone else. Eve Uni teaches and trains more pilots/players than even Goon Swarm, Init, Winterco, or the now defunct PamFam. The sheer amount of players that pass through their corps in a given year. May on the surface might not look impressive. Until you realize that the turn over is by design.

The players that have been Eve Uni are found everywhere in the game and across the cluster. If any one Alliance or corp could control and have influence with the devs and FC. It would be Eve Uni. The fact it has no more influence than anyone else should tell you something.

The dev’s and FC listen to those that are willing to speak up. Sometimes it is the major alliances, Sometimes it is a lone voice such as Mike Azariah, Want to know why you can increase the size of your cursor? I talked to several of the candidates for CSM last year. Outlines in concise terms why I felt it was a necessity. The devs were listening. It went in without fanfare with an update after the elections were about over.

A small thing for certain. The major alliances and the wealthiest have no more real influence than anyone else. I was hoping to run this year for CSM. I really wanted to do so. But RL is making it hard for me to play as much as I want to. And devote the time to this game.

But much like attaining the wealth that many thought not possible. I will eventually make it on to the CSM. Why? Because I am a cantankerous bullheaded stubborn old man. And I do not worry about what is possible or not. When I know something is doable.

I’m on a break, yes, I have cycles too to respect.

Every change needs a spark, somewhere.

I just don’t like to be the firework.

Nobles in medieval times had shorter life-span than peasants, because they ate too much, or they were in constant wars. At least they died in battle in the forefront, and I have big respect for them.

When the paradigm changed so that the rich had just to press a button and peasants died on their place… that’s when things got too blurred… I’m not convinced the balance shift is really moving in Eve towards a more equally wealth environment, too many chokepoints, too many punishing policies for more “bearish” play-style… but it’s also true what you say, from other perspectives.
