But they have time to propose asinine ideas on forums it seems.

Someone who doesn’t prepare for their life in space, deserves to die screaming in that space.

Again, I feel like the environs of New Eden are not for you.

That’s funny because I, like 100% of EVE players, started at the beginning and it wasn’t a problem and we didn’t get bored.
Did you? Obviously not since you’re still here.
Do you know of player who ever said " well, I created my character now, named it and chose a corporation and a background… but now I’m bored" ? Do you have a name? Who are you posting on behalf of ?

The character creation process has only become generic because its the same in every game. It could have been cool and ground breaking when EVE online started. But its not anymore and you have to adapt?

Right and my point is that’s CCPs job. CCP needs to do outreach/focus groups. The devs can play the games they made and interact with corps. The burden is on them not us. We can argue all darn day long if the NPE is right and the needle won’t move.

We (the customers) in this industry (games) don’t have a ton of power to influence MAJOR development decisions.

The most power we have is feedback on UI, QOL suggestions, and ofc bugs. If that.

Like I know it’s harsh to be the discussion killer but that is the reality here. I come to play EvE. Let the hero billionaires/trillionaires waste their time talking about the NPE. Us average joes should relax after a hard day of work in RL.

Who says you are the discussion killer?

Just the tone of writing that someone who reads it may think that. There is that one guy who will think that. So, I address it like a man. I mean I reread that post, and it really does seem to kill the mood.

But everything I have said so far on this topic is true or in good reason.

tbh next NPE thread I may stay out of it. I get a bad taste in them.

I think players are in a better position than anyone to give suggestions on what works or what does not. They are the ones playing the game, and they are the ones who have likely played hundreds of other games. They know whats up  So thats why i am not a fan of “data driven” approach. Players are a much better resource. Interact with them, listen to them. This is the way.

So just listen to you and not the thousands of other players who aren’t you that the data is based on? Yeah…not gonna happen.

If not listen to me then who?

I agree that it would probably be better to have character creation after the initial tutorial with Aura. Or at least give players the option.

CCP needs to reach out to us. It’s not the other way around. This is noted in lean philosophy for RL manufacturing.

One could argue CCP doesn’t do enough player outreach… But they do CSM and fanfest… :man_shrugging: Those two things alone are above and beyond compared to a lot of games.

I dont see what CSM and Fanfest has to do with player outreach. We have this forum, we can communicate directly already, there is no need for CSM or Fanfest in this regard. You can even argue CSM makes players and CCP further apart. That if the goal was to get players and CCP closer it has done the opposite. I was kinda shocked when i read a response from a CSM member in Assumbly Hall the other day and the member was like "sorry for the late reply i dont read the forums much* and im like how does he do his job then? what better place than forums to find out what players concerns etc. are?
