Root causes

Have you tried not being poor?

Really, all I’m getting from you is that you hate people who can afford to pay extra for the game, and want us to limit ourselves to only what you can afford.

Thats interesting

i can plex my account doing pve on one account, if i push it two… and then three.. and then… tbvh anyone can work upto it, like op said; theyre paying in plex…. i really dont get the hate… its not even easy to control that many at the same time.

No you don’t necessarily have to. You can get with your Corp mates and arrange times to do so. Uni does this throughout the week. Other corps that focus on industry as well. Personally trying to bounce between ships would be a pain in my butt. And one ganker is going to destroy one or more of mining ships. Before I can get the entire fleet into warp. It takes precious seconds to get that signal out to the fleet and the game making decisions as to what its priority are. Better to fleet up with others and warp out if a ganker or two do show up. But that is just me.

As fo drones. I have found drones for what little they do. It is just not worth the cost of having them mining. Sure they can drop some ore into your hold and maybe speed up mining a little, but just not much in saving time and not much more ore. Than what I can mine without the them.

On my retriever I use warrior drones. They do well enough to blow the NPC pirates out of the sky. But I have no illusions that on a ganker. They would be nothing more than a nuisance and almost a waste of ammo.

Though out in the neck of the woods where I am currently. Mining drones are selling quite well. For some it is evidently worth it. Shrugs It is all Isk to me in the end.

I run a 3 monitor setup so I don’t have to bounce between ships. I can keep an eye on local on each account (Hulk and Orca).

Distance:

I keep the two ships close together so that I can transfer Ore into the Orca when it’s mined. This means that I don’t have to always run the compressor which saves on Heavy Water. As an additional benefit, if gankers (cough Aiko) do arrive, my Hulk can be dumped into the Orca at the click of a button and then it’s simply a matter of the Hulk pilot running off to dock (or getting blown up- she carries no implants so it wouldn’t cost me anything).

Drones:

Yeah, I don’t really use mining drones either. They don’t make that much of a difference. I’d rather use combat drones for the rats. Mining Drones II are not worth it when you consider the high yield of a Hulk with Orca buffs. I use EM medium drones. I like the look of the lasers and EM cuts through the rats really well. I’d simply use shield rep drones, but drone agro prevents that.

As for joining:

I still don’t know of a High Sec corp that would be able to work with my limited schedule. It’s why I’m usually mining alone… or doing combat alone.

That’s why I use two. It’s just easier and my setup works.

It’s a 2 edged sword. I griefed for a short term but never ganked because it was never profitable at the time for me. Even griefing other players fell off the table as I was able to pop my targets at the time. Switched to alpha strikes to test fits and remind players there were always some bigger fish out there. Didn’t need to kill them to prove a point when at the time, I had bigger fish to fry.

Then the wd rule change happened. 50k to 20k and now 30k. EVE was growing better than, then now. CCP holds the reins and were just stuck along forthe ride as long as CCP makes $$$. Can’t blame them, just what a shame the got so popular it turned into a cash grab instead of being the nitch game it used to be. “It grew to fast.” :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing: CCP had no clue it would be so popular!

Just got back from a B=Day party. Let me know if I missed anything.

Oh dear, you missed the fact that I was replying to a hapless iMac user who didn’t think he could multibox on his one computer - he can as it’s a feature of macOS. And yes, one monitor, endless fullscreen clients running each with its own desktop (max was 24 which included my alpha accounts when CCP gave out a week’s free Omega last year ).

Ye the group i was with figured out the mechanics and had quite the fun baiting greifers into fights, some wardecs ensued which at the time were fun and we made friends with quite a few of our opposition as we were all basically there for the same thing, course this was way back before everyone had several logi 5 toons and there was no t1 logi… id like to see a return of even that mechanic tbh but that would be hell to balance so it wasn’t overpowered; when last I saw it used riot were using 3 or 4 t2 neutral logi cruisers to protect one proteus vs a new corp of about 10 with members barely a month old… which does nothing for the game. I have no idea how such an underhanded (which im not completely opposed to using with limits..) tactic could be changed so that people couldn’t use it in such a way other than relegating wardeccers to only being able to dec others with similar overall sp (doesn’t fix neutral logi)

I liked the grey areas, not knowing what might show up unexpectedly somehow made the fights far more interesting and less plannable/win b4 u unlock that we have now.

There were some fixes that were needed! We had so much logi on both sides that everyone started to run outta ammo, no ships lost either side. Just glad someone remembers.
