So, Eve has a very predictable series of routes by which we can go from system to system… Jump Bridges and Cynos have made a difference, but there are still a number of highsec choke points that (okay) create gameplay in themselves, but for the majority are a complete pain in the butt.
The existing routing system has created two trade hubs and a few gankspots, but very little else. Rather than guaranteeing Abhazon as a free treasure trove for lazy gatecampers, make them work for their loot by finding a weekly/monthly/random choke point… but that’s not all.
Why not properly randomize the routes around Eve…? I mean as a regular thing.
It’s space… It should be no harder to get to Hek than Jita or Amarr… ‘spatial conditions’ could easily make those routes 5 jumps one week and fifteen the next, passing randomly through lowsec one week, all highsec a week/month later… A good week could allow you to fairly safely freight a freighter full of ore/goods/ships into lowsec in half a dozen jumps, the week later that same trip could include fifteen jumps through null. Why not make it so that now and then it is only ten jumps from Ethereum Reach to Foutain>?
Okay, so you would have to plan your ‘three freighter autopilot trade route’, but why shouldn’t you? Autopilot would still work…
Surely implementing this would help to populate lowsec and randomize the optimum ganks spots, free up the map for roaming gangs, ninja miners and explorers and break the Jita Amarr stranglehold on trade hubs. It wouldn’t change the role of Cynos and Bridges, but it would make it easier to open up low and null to solo players who want to open up their markets or scavenge a battle site or two.
Why not?
