L-CNN has been made aware that several local and regional groups have jointly initiated a judicial review in the Aeman Federal District Court against the decision by the Tribunate of Lamadentin to permit a new religious organisation to operate in the Aedant District.

This organisation, known formally as the Sedevacantist Amarrian Orthodox Church, recently established a place of worship in the frontier settlement of Roussillon. Determined to be a radical offshoot of the Imperial Rite founded and funded by infamous capsuleer and mass-murderer ‘Nauplius’, the Church has caused no small amount of controversy in its short existence. An inflammatory speech by a leader within the Church, Balash Kavad, condemning migration by Minmatar into the region as the root cause of the woes of Roussilon have sparked increasing divisions across Lamadentin and has attracted attention from the greater Aeman Federal District.

Roussillon, a Delta town dominated by primary industries such as mining and agriculture, has experienced a period of increasing economic decline for the past year. This has been blamed on the closure of several mines due to ‘economic unviability’ in the current climate, although the agricultural sector remains in a healthy position. Migration into the area, mainly from other areas within the Federation and particularly from the Matari community, has increased as part of an economic initiative by Roussillon’s local government and the Tribunate of Lamadentin to reverse the area’s glum prospects.

The judicial review action has been initiated by several civil rights and community groups within the Aeman District, including some from out of the District such as the All-Federation Caldari League. From what we have gathered so far, the review cites breaches of the Federal Constitution, such as the Right to Dignity and the Right to Equality. Federal anti-terrorism legislation has also been invoked, highlighting the prominent role that pilot Nauplius has in funding this institution.

L-CNN will continue to monitor this case as further developments are made public. We have been unable to reach a representative of the Sedevacantist Amarrian Orthodox Church for comment.
